The Titleist Pro V1x ball is a great buy if you are a good player. I would say that if you shoot over 90 consistently then don't waste your money on this ball. You will probably feel the differnce in the ball coming of the club face but it won't make you shoot in the 70s. I myself love this ball and off the tee I am about 10-15 yards longer then any other ball on the market. The only thing that I don't care for is the chip shots around the green. I used to play the Pro V1 and I liked the fact of being very aggressive with my chip shots around the green and knowing it was going to check up extremely well. The Pro V1x still will spin with the around the green shots but not nearly as much as the Pro V1. But I will sacfrice the spin around the greens for the distance I get off the tee.

I have used prov1's and prov1* for the past few years. Occassionaly I use the HXred. I have played the prov1x a few times but personally I find they go too low for me, and I hate the feel on the wedge for chipping. There is huge difference if you tap them on the club face side by side with the normal prov1. Certainly agree that high handicappers are wasting their time and money with these and any other pro v ball. Still cant make my mind up if the seam on the ball really does effect the trajaectory and distance, I think maybe only the pro golfers can tell, I certianly cant.

For all those reviews that say this ball has helped them gain distance? They must have been playing with Revolutions, Blatas, or some other overly soft ball. Because as far as distance is concerned the cheapier 2 piece balls will make anyone hit further then the Pro V's. Pro V's are not designed for pure distance, like topflite or pinnicle. Now I will tell you the truth on these balls. The Pro v1x is a great ball for people with high swing speeds. It will go further than the Pro v's if you have the speed, If not? you will loose distance. If you have a swing about 110 or less you should stick with the pro V's. The X's have less spin then the regular pro V's so it will not bite like velcro on the green. Don't get me wrong it still can stop on a dime. Because it has less spin it plays very well in windy conditions. If you live in an area that has strong winds blowing accross the course, This is a great ball. It is as advertised "low flight, low spin which allows it to roll further on drives. For people who do not want to spend $40+ for a dozen balls you might want to try the Maxfli Noodle (comperable to the Pro V's) and the Maxfli A3's (comperable to the ProV1 X's) Although the Maxfli's do not fly as straight as the Pro V's on windy days. Sorry to say that the Nike TA2's are one of the worst balls to play in windy conditions. They drift a lot off target. The Maxfli A10's are good balls also but unfortunately they do not make them anymore.Another good ball from Titleist is the So/Lo They are a bargin at $15-$20 per doz. Pro V's have become a lot better since they were first introduced. The first Pro V's could barely last for Half a round, which made then not worth the money. But over the years Titleist has made improvements to the cover of the ball, and if you are lucky it can last for several rounds. I even spin ballance the balls and they are quite durrable. And my swing speed averages 120 mph. The Pro V's Do live up to the hype. They are exactly as advertised. For better golfers! Most weekend golfers lack the skill to take full advantage of a ball like this, so they are just fooling themselves that they need to buy a ball that can cost as much as $4.00 per ball. But if you are the type that like to shoot for the pin, can back the ball up at will, Swings over 110 mph, and needs a ball that flies like a dart in windy conditions. Then this is the ball For you! If you are the type of player that bump & run, and you are glad when your ball just lands somewhere on the green. Do yourself and your wallet a favor stick with the balls that cost less then $25.00 per dozen, and use that extra $25.00 for extra day of golf. You will be much Happier Having an extra day of fun and not banging your clubs on the ground because you just shanked a $4.00 ball into the water. "Keep it in the short grass" and Have fun!!

I too watched Ernie bombing these new balls early in the season and thought this is too good to be true. Could these balls really increase your driving average by 30 yards ?!? I have to say that I was sceptical, until I tried them - they really do bomb !! The best thing about them seems to be there ability to hold straight, I guess this is the hardness factor. However they seem really good round the greens too. I'm not a believer of all the Titleist hype about this ball only being suitable for the fastest swing speeds. I'm not a fast swinger. If you want long and straight but still like a bit of feel around the green try this one out - you won't be disappointed. PS. Get them off eBay - I got 20 for £29 (approx $45)

I didn't gain those 20 or so yards on drives, but still quite satisfied with the Pro V1x as it holds the green very very well, especially on wedges.

Bottom Line: You have to be a low single-digit handicapper who likes to work the ball in many ways to pick the regular Pro V1 over this. The V1x is a superior all-around ball. If I could play any ball for free, it would be the V1x. Unfortunately, it's not free! haha

I've been a bogey-ball player, struggling to break 90, when I found a ProV1x in some woods and put it in play. It was immediately apparent to me hitting it, and my playing partners watching, that this was a different ball. I did nothing different, but the ball went farther on drives and my wedge shots, normally fairly good, were suddenly crisp. I shelled out the GDB (green dollar bills) for a dozen, and I am shooting in the 80s on a consistent basis. Yes, the ball made THAT much difference. BTW, I also got hold of a regular ProV1, and IMHO it is not the same level as the ProV1x.

I just played my first 2 rounds with this ball, and was amazed. I had never been a firm believer that the type of ball had much impact on a score, but after hitting this ball, I can't imagine hitting anything better. This ball is as advertised. I had no idea what my swing speed is, but knew it was well over 115, just from playing a round with our club pro. He told me to try the Pro V1x, and the rest as they say is history. The distance off the tee box is insane, and it does seem to help with a straighter flight. I'm a Pro V1x'er for life.

This ball is everything Titleist says it is. I bought a sleeve this weekend out of pure curiosity. Can it be all they say it is? Yes. My drives increased on average 25 yards. No BS. That distance allowed me to play more comfortable irons (8,9 & PW) in, thus increasing my chances to make par & birdie. Did I take advantage?? No, but hey that's why I shoot in the 90's! Swing speed. Don't worry about having a SS of 115mph to see a difference off the tee. Anyone swinging over 100mph should see increased distance. Spin. I don't swing hard enough to spin this ball. My results were more "One hop and stop." Would I buy a dozen of these babies? Yes. The price where I am is about $38 a dozen, in line with all the other premo balls. I'd recommend to anyone curious about this ball to try it. Buy a sleeve and see for yourself.

I can't attest for the higher handicapped players, but for me, this ball is unbelievable. I have never played a ball that went so far, and stopped so fast. It is also very durable. It doesn't back up when it hits the greens, which is perfect. It just stops, usually within a yard of the ball mark. I picked up 20 yards over any other premium ball. I just can't say enough about this ball. The price is a little high, but if you don't lose too many balls, it's not to bad.
