There is a reason Taylor had to give these balls away. They do not compare favorably to the Pro V1 and to me, feel no better than the old Maxfli it replaced.

I got a free dozen and didn't hate them. I was trying to save some money on balls so I bought 6 dozen mixed reds and blacks for about $27 p/dozen. (They can currently be had even cheaper than that) I played both versions for about 6 weeks and, needless to say, the experiment is over.

The reason I can't play these balls is simple: they do not go as far as the Pro V1. For me, they are a full iron shorter and as much as 15 yards less off the tee. At first I blamed it on my new irons, but when I finally hit the TM's side by side with Pro V's, it was shocking.

Distance is a touchy subject, but I'd like to believe I am an average golfer in terms of swing speed. I play to a 7 hcp and swing a driver about 92 mph on average. I never thought I swung hard enough to have ball type matter, but I was wrong. I subbed Pro V's and my distance returned.

I will spare you the gory test details, but I was 1 club shorter with both TM balls over the regular Pro V1. I took a mat to my club on a Monday and tested for hours to make sure I wasn't nuts. Maybe if you swing harder, the TM balls will perform better.

The Black is firmer and goes a little further than the red, but its negligible. On a driver swing, the Red is dead. Just mush. The black is little better, but it doesn't have that Titleist click to it.

They are not a total waste. Inside 100 yards, they perform nicely. The TP Red has a tremendous greenside feel while the black is a little firmer. They do not spin too harshly and they roll nice when putting.

I guess you get what you pay for. I am dumping what I haven't used on ebay and buying Pro V's.

Value rating reflects deals on ebay, not pro shops.

If you are in the market for a premium golf ball, then you should really give the TP product line a shot. I tried the TP Red and found that for me it compares simiarily to the ProV1. However, since everyone has a slightly different swing, you might get more out of this one than other premium golf balls. Give it a shot and see for yourself. I have to admit I do not really like forking over $40 for a dozen. Still, for competitive play, I would have no problem playing this ball.

I never really played with premium balls before, I always used balls that were given to me as gifts but I recieved a free box of the TP Blacks when I bought my new Burner driver. I just played with these yesterday and I was very impressed, I normally chip and run at the pin since I was not used to the balls spinning or sticking but with these balls I can go right at the stick and the ball would hit and check up nicely. I also felt no loss on distance compare to some rocks that are out there. I can still easily bomb it 300+ with these blacks and still have the touch around the greens. I cant judge these on value since they were free.

I recently got the opportunity to try these TP Blacks on the course and they are amazing! Excellent value for a premium ball, now $39.99 at most golf shops. Spin is excellent from all places. Go for the TP Red for a tour-like launch, or the TP Black for a higher launch. Great distance, highly recommended!

This is a very solid ball. The ball flight is great and it checks up pretty well on the green but the spin is nowhere near that of the pro v1. I would compare it to the srixon z-ur. Great overall ball!

I have played this ball on and off for a year and a half now and my experiences have been positive. I'm not sure why some reviewers categorize this as a "reasonable" replacement for the ProV1 when they are the same Price. however, as a direct comparison with the ProV1x, I feel that they are very similar. I get a more consistant ball flight with the TP red and they are awesome to putt with so I give the edge to TM here. the V1x is probably a few yards longer IMO but not enough to affect my score. I do not get a whole lot of spin on my shots so from my experience I also feel that the two balls are compareable in this department. The TP balls have that "dull" finish like the Prov's ( I think the new PRov's are a brighter white). Overall, I find these to be a good value and if you want to try a ball that gives consistant trajectory and distance as well as putts true, then give these a shot.

I, like many others, have been looking for a reasonable substitute for the Pro v1. I bought a dozen of these and found that, while a really good ball, they are not a great ball. I also found that they do fly a little low of the driver, and their feel around the green is good, but not great. Having said that the thing that would prevent me from giving them another try was the fact that I found that they became scuffed very easily. While I expect that a tour ball will scuff if you pond it on a cart path, or parking lot, I found that this ball scuffs from unseen things, i.e. I'll play a couple holes with a brand new ball and all of a sudden the ball has scuffs on it, not major scuffs but a bit of a negative none the less

This seems to be the best ball for my game. Slightly crisper than the Pro V1 in feel and slightly less spin. Excellent trajectory of all clubs. TP Black flies too high for my preference and doesn't feel as creamy around the green. Pro V1X is also a bit hard for my game. For me the TP Red just edges out the Pro V1 and that's high praise indeed.

bought a sleeve of these tp reds when they first came out during the summer... and the condition of the course i usually play is soft, even for the summer. that said i found these balls to lack alot of spin around the greens. these balls also came out very low with the driver and woods. trajectory was flatter then what i was use too seein. overall these balls do have good feel to them, but the lack of control (spin) around the greens have made me go back to my pro v1 v1x.

I LOVE the way the TP Blacks feel on the green. They roll great off my putter face (Odysey White Hot). Switching to Taylor TP's from Callaway HX Tour. I find these are as long, as straight, and more consistant than the HX Tour. Plus, my putting distance control is much better with the TP Blacks than the HX Tour. I get great feedback on the greens. I buy mine on eBay for < $37/dz delivered. As for value, what are two or three less putts, and two or three more GIR per round worth? It is also nice to play a ball that not everyone else is playing. No more "I thought that was my ball."
