Model Reviewed: TP Red

Currently on a trial of many different premium balls to see if there is an genuine alternative to the pro v1x. (only Nike One Platinum and HX Black close so far).

Purchased 3 TP Red balls and have played 36 holes with this ball so far.

I am currently playing a R7 460 TP (best driver out there by a mile) and TP forged irons (suberb clubs), but personally found this ball to be unresponsive, dead and full of hype. If TM have recruited the prov1 guy as suggested, he certainly isn't working in the golf ball dept. of TM.

Rest easily Titleist, the pro v1 and 1x still remain supreme.

I am very disappointed with these as I am a big fan of TM TP equipment. They remind me of the old, rubbish balls TM used to make.

However, maybe I am just not good enough or do not have a swing speed capable of getting the best out of these (swing speed 110-115 high enough??).

I am going to try the TP black before making a final judgement.

Remember, if in doubt look at the stats. The pro v1 and 1x are the most played and successful balls by a mile on all tours.

Enough said.......

I was testing out a new 3 wood I purchased yesterday at a local muni. At the turn some guy was selling balls he'd probably found in the creeks and ob areas around the course. Anyhow, to my amazement he had Pro V1's and TM TP reds! He sold me 1/2 doz for $5! LOL. Never hit these before, friggin $60/doz here in Canada. Anyhow, what a great feeling ball. I had been searching for a ball to replicate the feel of my old fav. Maxfli Revolutions. The new Maxfli Black Max is close, and the Pro V1 is also close, but by far these TP reds are the best. Incidentally, I was also trying out Nike One Platinums that day because of a special promo $4 for 2 balls. They were pretty good as well, but not as soft as the TP reds. All these premium balls are very comparable in performance from the tee, but around the greens is where I'm concerned with, and these TP reds were Amazing. They provide great feel and the right amount of check. I shot 4 over on the outward 9, and even for the inward 9. Whether it was me being warmed up or not is in the air, but I'd like to think that the TP reds had much to do about it. Give them a try, if you can afford them. My value rating maybe askew, cuz I only paid $5 for 6 balls, lol.

I never really liked the prov's(too much spin to control) so I had settled on playing the HX-56(Callaway). I have finally found the ball that fits my game, th TP Red. It provides outstanding distance, great feel, and stopping power on both full shots and chips. It also has allowed me the control to stop full shots without worrying about how far past the pin that I need to play the shot. I find the feel off of my traditional style putter very pleasing and distance control to be right there with any other ball that I have played.I am a 50+ year old, so my swing speed has dropped a bit, yet this ball seems to have recaotured so of what was lost. For my money, this is the one that I have been waiting to find, the one that doesn't make me compromise any aspect of ball performance that I desire.

If you like the Pro-v1's, then you will like these. I guarentee it...They are practically the same thing(The creator of the Pro V1 quit working for Titleist and began working with TM and has pretty much the same design as the ProV1) These balls are really no different than the ProV's, except they are 2$ cheaper....i dont think 2$ makes a difference if your spening 40$+ on golf balls though

Ball snobs beware. I challenge those golfers who are *****ist loyalist to do a blind performance test. The Black is a little firmer than the Red which is noticeable around the greens. If you can generate sufficient clubhead speed, you will be very pleasantly surprised by the bite on your approach shots.

Im a long time reader of the site but felt i HAD to sign up so I could post a review of these balls.I am a long time player of prov1s and have tried all the newest balls every year when they come out to see if there is any hype to them.ie,hx tours nike ones bridgestones etc. and always end up going back to the provs.that is until now
I bought a dozen of the red and the black and played a round with each.
I started with the tp black. This ball is very long off the tee and high and straight is the norm.Id say the length is equal to provx maybe 5-8yds longer.on approach shots, the ball has a high trajectory, and lands with some decent check. My knock on the black was when chipping and putting. This ball is very hot to putt with and I found myself gunning them by the hole routinely 3-5ft
also the chipping was less than ideal with the tendency to lose its check on the 2nd hop and roll out too far.I expected this from the black as it is billed as the answer to the provx,BUt I do think its alittle longer and alittle softer than the x BUT
when I played the red...........in a word heaven!!!
I havent enjoyed debuting a new ball since the 1st time I teed up the original prov
This ball is everything a prov is but longer
I wou;d easily say its 10-15 yds longer.
the prov has a tendancy to spin too much with irons and chip shots, but I dealt with it because the other balls(provx,b330)were too hard, but with the tp red, there is what I consider the perfect amount of check and spin and no loss of distance with irons and driver
I hit 3 of my longest drives in many years with the tp red.and ironically, also found the red to be longer than the black.
If you are a devout prov player and gave up on finding the perfect ball.(think prov1 star..remember how they felt) the..then try the tp red I would also expect the tp black to be a more perfect ball than the provx.
the truth is that taylormade has put these balls alot closer together performance wise than the gap that exists between prov and provx,sO Im sure that both prov and provx players will find these to be the perfect balls!!!!!
