Was sent a sleeve of two of these balls from Callaway. Not sure why, but I gladly tried them. Managed to shoot a 78, a personal best on the course I play regularly and a tie with my best score ever, even though I left two puts hanging on the lip. I normally play the Pro V1x. It is hard to compare the two since it was somewhat colder (40s) on the day I played the HX tour. Did notice that I only missed a couple of fairways and the misses weren't by much, even though one swing was butt ugly the ball managed to stay in play. Customer Service Didn't need to. Balls were sent to me free! Similar Products Used: Pro V1, Pro V1x |

I picked up a dozen and put it to a test this morning and couldn't wait to make a report on it. I had been searching for a ball that doesn't spin as much as the Titleist Pro V1 but has more biting spin than the Pro V1x. My search has come to an end w/ this ball. I was very impressed after just one round w/ this ball. This is the best ball for me so far. I was a little worried after I read about some claims that this ball doesn't have the durability of the Pro V1 & Pro V1x balls. Well, I played 18 holes w/ the same HX Tour ball and it held up very well just like the many Pro V1x's I had played with. I have a 115+ mph swing speed and I could hardly scuff up the ball. Like most said, this ball is amazingly very long off the tee and spins very well on the green. It doesn't spin out of control on miss-hits. It has great feel on the putting green and around the green. The feel at impact is like that with a soft ball like the Titleist Pro V1 but this ball is so much longer, longer than the Pro V1x. Either my putting was just happened to be on when I tried out this ball on 18 holes or the putting feel for this ball was the difference because I was putting like a champ w/ this ball. Customer Service Haven't had to use it yet. Similar Products Used: Titleist Pro V1 & Pro V1x, Strata balls, Maxfli balls, etc. |

I have to admit I fail to see as many wonderful differences as many reviewers on this site see with balls. I mostly rely on feeling when playing a ball, and statistically what my scores are. Obviously some of them are softer or longer, but similar constructions offer similar performance. I have played the HX Tour for a while. It did happen that I am also playing my best now, but I will try to be as unbiased as possible: 1) Distance: It is longer than anything I have played. Certainly longer than ProV1. 2)Flight: I play on a links course. The wind usually affects ball flight. This ball does keep straigt as long as you hit a fairly decent impact. Other pro balls tend to slice/hook much easier. 3)Feel. Softer than most. Softer than Pro V1, especially for the short game and putting. For me it did not stop sooner (it stopped as well as any ball will do with my swing speed). However it boosted my confidence around and at the greens. Conclusion: I do not know if it is worth the money. Honestly, you need to put a value to hitting 2 shots less. But if I was to play an important round in my life, at this moment I would play this ball or a Pro V1 (in this order). Customer Service No need in a ball. Too much hassle. I would rate this as a good allround ball, but not the best out there. As for ball striking, this ball is undoubtedly the best I have hit. Feels very solid off the driver and flies further than any premium ball out there (including PorV1X). Around the greens though, I think it is a shade behind the HX blue, which is the best short game ball around. If the course is playing long and soft the black is the ball, but for hard and fast conditions I prefer the blue. I have used all balls over the years and have found that callaway makes the best in every department. The black is the most expensive of callaway but still cheaper to the ProV1/X which are inferior products (which I would rate 3 for performance, 0 for value). I have been playing the Maxfli M3's because they are selling cheap at the golfsmith store. I tried a HX Tour ball and I am impressed.I have used all kinds of balls before. But I have never been this impressed with any ball.Go ahead and give my review a 1 rating I don't care. But I can honestly tell you that I was at the 6th hole at Jurupa Hills golf course and the distance is a par 4, 379 yards from the blue tees. I hit my drive and when the ball came to a stop I was only 30 yards short or the green. Now that is a true story. I was with 2 other golfers.Best ball period. Very good ball. Played in a tournament this weekend playing in about a two club wind sometimes three depending on gusts. This ball is very good in the wind and long. I have tried lots of different balls and this one is tied for first only because it feels a little firm to me chipping and putting. Other than that it's awesome. I would say if I wanted more of a soft feel chipping and putting I would play the ProV1 or Precept U-tri tour but the ball flight and distance of this ball have sold me. I did not experience any issues with durability as mentioned in previous posts, if anything I felt it was more durable than a lot of balls on this level. The length and control of the ball are the most impressive. The ball never got out of control considering the wind. It doesn't spin quite as much as the ProV1 or some other balls but spins more than the lower level "distance" type balls like the NXT Tour and others. I would highly reccomend trying it. Also if you go to Callaway's web site they have a challenge, if you send them a ProV1 or ProV1X in any condition they will send you two HX Tour balls to try, give it a shot. OK, these are pretty good. They're long and spin very well, but I don't think they're any better than other pro-line balls, especially at the $42+/doz price tag. I do like how they play in the wind, but I gotta say something about the previous post. 300+ into a 20 mph wind??? Come on, dude. |

I found one of these balls on the course one day and played it for the last few holes. I was impressed enough to go out and buy a dozen. Wow. This is the best ball I've ever played. The distance is amazing. I launched a 300+ yard drive into the teeth of a 20 mph wind. I've never been able to really spin a ball before, but I backed up the ball about 4 feet on the first hole. I don't mind paying a premium price for a ball this good. Durability was good as well. I played a whole round on one ball and it wasn't badly scuffed at all. I recommend this ball for mid to low scoring players. Customer Service N/A Similar Products Used: Nike One Black, Nike Tour Accuracy, Titleist Pro V1, Callaway CB1, Callaway HX Blue |

HX TOUR BLACK
Remember the feeling when you first started hitting PROV1's? Anytime you had to hit any other kind of ball you felt like you were 10 yards shorter with it? That's the way the HX TOUR has made me feel. I've done my own personal testing with them against PROV1's and can honestly tell you that the HX is a solid 10-15 yards longer for me! That's hitting a dozen or so of each back to back down our club's first hole fairway after play hours. I feel it's because it doesn't seem to have as much baskspin/sidespin as the Titleist does. Bites the green easily as hard but doesn't have the dreaded "YO-YO" backspin on it. I'm hooked...just wish they were a tad more durable though. I got one HX Tour ball from a friend to try out, and I was amazed at the soft feeling I get from this ball. I also get alot of distance from this ball too. I was able to hit the green with my 8 iron and back up the ball, the ball didn't check up and stop, it actually spun back towards the hole. I have been buying the Maxfli M3's because they are selling for a cheap price at the golfsmith store, but I think I'll get myself a box of these Callaways. Best Ball for me period.
