Momentus Iron
Never thought I'd be writing a review on anything other than clubs, but I just HAD to share my thoughts on the Momentus. In just a few months of swinging it 10-15 times 3-4 days a week, it has turned my fade (or slice) into a nice tight little draw. It has also added 20-30 yards to each of my irons, and 30-40 yards to my drives. No exaggeration, the Momentus has done wonders for my game. Used to hit a 7 iron 145-150, I'm now hitting it 165-175, either dead straight or with a nice little 5 yard draw. What years of practice and quite a few lessons could not do, the Momentus did in just a few months. This $89 golf investment has sure given much greater returns than all those $300-$400 drivers I've invested in!! Customer Service None needed Similar Products Used: None |

Momentus Iron (40 oz.)
So far, I''m 100% satisfied with the Momentus. I read the other reviews on this board and debated over buying the Momentus vs. making one. I''m not going to discount that making one will work, but I will tell you that the $90 I spent has been worth every penny. I''ve only had this tool for a sort time and I''ve already seen a marked improvement in my game. The video is great.....I follow the suggested program of training 3-4 times per week and it only takes about 15 mintutes of my time. I can practice right in my living room. I also like to bring the Momentus to the range and swing it 5 times then hit 5 balls and alternate back and forth. I feel I get the most out of my range visits with this method. I''ve taken lessons before and they''ve been great, but a Pro can try to explain how a proper grip and swing should feel, but the Momentus actually lets you feel what the proper grip, and swing plane should feel like - the best way to practice. I read the review of Proshooter and today I went out and got some bb''s and an old Tommy Armour 845 5 iron at 2nd Swing golf shop and it worked like a charm. I''ve use the Momentus before and this homemade one is pretty close to the real thing. Swung it for about five minutes at the range before I got into my session and I was bombing the ball. It definately gets those golf muscles going and gets the club in the right position. The only thing I did differently than Proshooter was I lit a candle and poured wax into the shaft with the bb''s. It made the club quieter. Prior to doing that you could hear the bb''s rattle around. Just add some bb''s, pour a little wax, and repeat until you get to the top. Then just use the wax to seal the club. Works better than I thought it would |

Home made Momentus
The momentus is a good idea, but don''''t buy one. Heres what i did. The momentus is 2.5 pounds. So i went to walmart and bought a couple of pounds of bb''''s for 2 dollars. Then, i had an old 1 iron in the basement and you know how the grip has a small hole on the end of it. Well i got a large drill bit and made the hole big enough to drop bb''''s in the shaft through a funnel. I filled the shaft with bb''''s, and when itwas full caulked the the hole closed and lo and behold just made my own swing trainer. It feels about the same weight as the momentus and it cost $2. Don''''t go to the hardware store and buy steel and put a grip on it, just get an old club(if you don''''t have one get one for $5 out of a golf stores used area). It works great. Make sure you use a stiff steel shaft. Don''''t be a dummy and pay $100. |

Well you can buy one for a $100 or you can make one for $5 to $15 ! The momentus is a great idea, but for just a heavy steel shaft and a grip, it is way over priced. I was checking on the net and two people made home made ones. The first guy bought a 36 inch threaded rod and then he could add nuts to it to change the wieght. Then he bought a grip for it. The other just got a straight rod. MY idea was different and I just thought of it today. I had a old 5 iron in the shed and I said if I buy a steel pipe and put it over the club and duct tape it ,this should work. Well it did! I went to home depo and bought a 24 inch long steel pipe and 1 inch dia and I slid it over the shaft and taped it on. I tried to centre the pipe so all the wieght was not at the bottom. I think it is more then 40 oz so I might cut some off. I tried it, and it works great! I took 10 swings then I grabed my real club and wow, effortless swing! In Canada the pipe cost$6.50 ha,ha. Tell me what do you think? You can cut the grip off and buy a thinner pipe and put another grip on. Customer Service none Similar Products Used: momentus |

Please do not purchase this training aid. Waste of money. You can achieve the same workout and swing feedback by holding two clubs (example: 9 iron and PW) together. Try it for yourself. This product is a GIMMICK. |

Momentus Swing Trainer (Clone)

None Anyways, when I first tried golfing about a year ago I tried the momentus and it was a good device, but wasn''t worth the $100 price tag. One day I went to the US Patent Office''s website and found out that the concept is patented and is merely a steel bar with a grip. Here is a link that explains it... http://patft.uspto.gov/netacgi/nph-Parser?Sect1=PTO1&Sect2=HITOFF&d=PALL&p=1&u=/netahtml/srchnum.htm&r=1&f=G&l=50&s1=''5,582,407''.WKU.&OS=PN/5,582,407&RS=PN/5,582,407 Anyways....it does the same thing that the real thing does and perfected my swing plane and my release. Go to Home Depot, buy a 34" steel bar that''s 1/2" in Diameter and slap on a grip...it''ll do your swing good...and your wallet. Customer Service I wish I had the wisdom to get a corded grip instead of paying $12 for a Winn Grip...the grip costs more than the bar! Similar Products Used: The real Momentus Trainer.. |

Momentus
I can't recommend this highly enough. I have had it one week and have made huge strides in my consistency & distance, especially on the short & mid irons. Not only does it help you keep your club on plane, it makes you have a smooth tempo - it's impossible to jerk it around or cut your backswing short. Also the weight & momentum lead you to have a proper follow-through, something I have never done before. The best part is that your swing gets better without having to keep a bunch of tips & thoughts in your head. Just swing the Momentus a few times at the range, then whack some balls with your 6 iron - you will be amazed. Similar Products Used: None |
