I received the video training back in 1999 and began to apply Daltons methods. Prior to 1999 I shot mainly 100+ scores, that year I had 20 rounds under 100 and was hitting the ball alot straighter. Each year since then I have reviewed the videos and have improved each year. My handicap now is 12 and last year in the city tournament I play in each year I broke 80 for the first time.(77) This year I have broken 80 four times, and for 9 holes I have shot 40 or less 11 times. I am in this tournament again next month and I will be in the senior bracket for the first time, and I am planning on winning.

Having clubs with the correct length and lie angle is critical. The day I had the lie angle adjusted 2 degrees up I went to my home course and broke 40 for 9 holes for the first time. I love the simplicity of the Dalton swing method and have taught it to several beginners and more advanced players with excellent results. It would be fun to be a straight shooten instructor some day.

Tee it up!

Great system, would like to have it on DVD.

Last year I did purchase the Natural Golf training lessions to see if Moe Norman had similar or additional techniques that would take me to the next level. Though the technique was very different the things that have helped is getting the oversized grips, and having a single plane swing instead of a 2 plane swing.

i've reviewed this item before, read pages earlier. i had trouble with the system then and that was after a couple of years - a year or two on and i'm still having trouble. my golf game is awful - excluding short game and putting. i haven't got with the system so i'm not doing the swing on the course. the swing (if i could get it would be perfect - it all makes perfect sense!!) if someone could help me it'd be much appreciated. i emailed Dalton and he emailed me back but now all emails don't get thru' (i think the email account is no more). he was very nice and one email has completely revolutionised how i see playing golf. the reason i cant get the swing is because i have personally confused myself so much by watching the videos so many damn times over so many years. now i'm unsure on what to do and hence get it wrong. everytime i watch the video i think he means a different thing e.g. "push back with the left hand" but he then says "take your left hand straight up" and also "move the dog" which one do i do??? i'm confused, each one is a different sensation to me. i don't even know whether i'm cocking left handed, i grip the club flat and swing only left handed yet the toe points not down basically. i've got all his videos and am so determined to get this system as basically i need to. i've been doing it for years. if dalton is reading this please try and email me, i've tried to email you. if anyone else could help me it'd be much appreciated. these videos will make you a golf genius, no doubt. when i look at someones swing i can instantly tell what they are doing wrong - it really is amazing. ( i have played golf and do play golf alot though) thanks

How did I find out about Dalton? I saw it advertised on the UK Golf Channel. I thought what a waste of time and didn't pursue it. A few weeks later I watched on the same channel A.J. Bonner "The Truth about Golf" For some reason I bought his CD's. Quite honestly his explanation of how the golf club is a tool and how if understood and used properly you will be able to hit beautifully long, straight golf shots without effort transformed my game in a few weeks of practicing. Then, I saw the Dalton tapes on special offer. By this time I thought, what the hec, if AJ's CD's are so good, then why not try Daltons "Straight Shootin Golf". To my amazement, both methods had similarities. Without giving away their secrets (they are both worth the money) here are some of the similarities. First, how your mind works? AJ, explains it a bit more scientifically than Dalton but they both come to the same conclusion. The problem with golf is hitting a stationary ball, it quite simply messes up your natural hand eye co-ordination system. Secondly, get your clubs (irons) fitted to you because if they are not it’s the arrows causing the problems, not the archer. Third, early release; Dalton explains this very well, AJ not at all. AJ explains pro-nation (hand release) very well, Dalton not so well but shows release. They both explain how the grip determines the position of the club-head throughout the swing. Dalton says neutral is the only way, AJ says neutral is best but as long as you understand some slight variation from neutral is OK. I love Daltons "where the toe goes so does the ball" (it works), and that alone has straightened my shots enormously. I am confused however by a seemingly fundamental difference in how the clubface stays square through impact. AJ explains "not at all" not for one inch. Basically, understanding how it is open on contact and square on separation (i.e. the ball rests on the clubface for 6° rotation or 4"). Dalton says it can be square for 40" (20" before and 20" after impact). It is my lowly opinion that AJ is more technically correct, whereas Dalton method of delivering the club does hit the ball straight. I continue to study and use both methods because for the first time in my 30 years of playing golf (I am just about to turn 50) these two guys have demystified what I literally though was a magic only understood (not even) by the best players in the world. Thanks a lot to both AJ and Dalton. All I would ask is that you two experts could get together and explain your difference in squareness through impact. If I have to work it out myself, I may not live long enough to find the answer if it takes me another 30 years.

I have mixed feeling about what dalton's saying in his videos. Firstly he gets you in a great position at the top of the backswing. By tucking the elbows in and controlling the backswing with the left hand, you can adopt a perfect position at the top. The roll movement troubled me, when i rolled with my left hand my downswing became a weak slap. It worked with my wedges but i lost distance with the longer clubs. I now start the roll with my RIGHT hand to great success. Does anyone else do the same?

First, I'm not entirely sure about the price, but it is entirely worth it! I'm 14 years old and I must have been about 13 when I got the product from Shop America. I saw the advertisement and I knew I had to have it. Probably my handicap was 15 at that point. At first, the system worked great, but as the winter slowly turned to summer, everything went wrong. My game didn't go back to old standards - it got worse. Not that bad, mind you, just inconsistent. I never really knew whether I'd shoot a low score (in the 70s) or a really high one (in the 90s). Since then, everything has been up and down. This year, I got down to 12, then went to 13 again. I've had some real golf in the start of the year (a 76), and some very poor golf also - about a 96, actually! My tendency has been to hit a very hurrendous pull-hook. That sounds a little like Hogan and McCrary's story. I'd heard about "Five Lessons", so I bought that - and Harvey Penick's "Little Red Book", for hints and tips. After reading those books, getting Dalton's course out again, viewing it and looking over it all over again so I knew I understood it, I know I'll be playing solid winter golf, improving, so next summer I'll hopefully go down from 13 into single figures. I also have a little knowledge on the golf swing, which can be no bad thing. I have finally realised that all the top professionals use this method, essentially, though all have different ways of communicating it, and what the great Ben Hogan says, what Harvey Penick says and Dalton McCrary says, are all very much alike. I guess my aim is to be off scratch by time I'm 16! Thanks, Dalton McCrary. P.S. I'd actually really appreciate it if Dalton himself could view this post. There is a question for him. I understand Dalton teaches lessons personally - for vast amounts of money, too. But how can this be. This clearly breaks the Rules of Amateur Status (by the USGA and The R&A), right? Or is he a professional, or has he just had his amateur status taken away? Regards, David.

I bought Dalton's video golf lessons last year, but couldn't understand that West Texas chatter...kakka gillion, wristies, yo' money, etc. Went to the workbook, and figured out how to hit straight hots. It works for my wife and me, but I don't get the distance. I, too, agree that Dalton should re-do the tape in Mid-American English, and dump the freekin' geek who's trying to get be a Las Vegas comic. His appearance is a negative in the tapes.

At first I didn't believe the system would work. I saw the advert on Shop America at least 10 times before I decided to buy the videos. When I recieved the videos and watched them for the first time, I thought Dalton was mad as a hatter. Conventional teaching says standard posture, standard lie and length, standard human being will swing a club a standard way. Jim Furyk would have something to say about that. He recently won the US open! What Dalton teaches is simplified golf physics. Why when I am 6 ft 2", did the custom fitting center say standard clubs would suit me? I didn't need custom clubs! In the end I got my own way(extra large grips, 3 degrees upright lie angle and an inch extra on the shaft). The custom fitting shop said I wouldn't be able to hit them. The ball flight would change!!!!! It certainly did. My swing is slightly out to in(not enough practice) so I slice the ball 15-20 yards. Not with the new clubs. Only a slight fade and a nice square divot. This is without drill practice. I did my research on club makers web sites about lie angle, shaft flex and length etc..... . Dalton is right. Tiger Woods doesn't swing with a late release! His club head is virtually on the same arc on the way up as the way down, releasing from the top. This generates club head speed and power. That is why he is the best in the world. Late release is a myth. It is all in the wristees. I had 5 golf lessons with a young pro. After following Daltons' methodology, I understood that what the pro taught me was what Dalton teaches but Daltons method of teaching is 10 times better. There isn't one way to swing a golf club, or a perfect swing, or the perfect golfer. Dalton breaks the narrow mindedness of the autherdox swing and opens our minds to swing dynamics and physics. I believe a subject should be looked at from all angles. Read around the subject I always say. They will suit all levels of ability, from beginner to pro. Good Luck! I fully recommend these videos. Simplified golf at a bargin price. Even if you don't take on board what he says, you will have a laugh at Daltons' madness for yourself!

I bought the tapes and they really didn't help at first, mostly because I wasn't doing what Dalton was teaching. I sat on the couch and thought I understood. After a year, I finally watched them again, and paid attention, did the drills, hit the tire, I even yell "One and Roll" in my sleep now. Anyway, I've improved immensely. In order for these to work, you have to do what he tells you to and you have to do it the way he tells you. I am hitting straight and I've added a little bit of distance as well. I don't think anyone should complain unless they've honestly done the drills and participate in the lessons, don't just sit on the couch and watch. On the negative side, I want to whack that one geek over the head. You know, the doofus who keeps trying to be funny and keeps interupting Dalton? Anyone else hate that guy? Dalton's methods work, but only if you're really doing what he says to do.
