The club in my bag I hit with the most confidence. It was a big "golf" purchase for me and from 75 and in it will do whatever you want it to. Great out of the sand and on the fairway...it's like butter

Cleveland is the king of wedges. I bought this wedge at the end of last year, and it can perform any duty. From long sand shots to short chips to shots from the fairway, this club performs. It has soft feel, spins pretty well, and the gunmetal finish is a really nice touch.

Customer Service

None, and hopefully it'll stay that way.

Last year I tried the Cleveland 588 64* in chrome. I was really impressed with the performance. This spring I was looking to nix the cheapie Dunlops I was trying since anything else was going to be a departure from the Ping wedges.

I extensivly demoed the 588s and Vokeys and found them to be pretty much identical.

I like the gunmetal finish. It looks good when your framing your shot and there is no glare on sunny days. I like the 53* and 60* a lot. I am not quite as high on the sand wedge. Nothing performs like a Ping in the sand, but I no longer care for the Ping's offset and the 57* performs well enough in the sand.

I really like this wedge because it is so well balanced, plus it was free from a friend and you can't beat that!

This wedge is so well-balanced it felt like an extension of my arm the first time I tried it. Just let the club play the ball. I actually feel confident to land within 15 feet when I am 40 yards from the stick. Changed my whole mentality for the short game. I use this wedge as much as possible. If you often miss the green but land in the vicinity, this is one $65 purchase that will save you a lot of strokes. The club is regularly discounted at pro-shops.

This wedge is nice and heavy. The ball spins well off this club, however i'd have to agree with some of the reviews about this wedge. Mainly the reviews that say this shouldn't be the only wedge in your bag. This wedge is good out of soft sand and off fairways. I also carry a 60 degree Callaway your series loft wedge so I can count on that at times instead of always on the Cleveland. All in all a great wedge, but carry another wedge with less bounce and more loft.

After 3 days of practice I started to understand why the wedge was so HEAVY! If you let the club do the work it cuts through the rough easley and the shots become predictable-max distance for me is 75-80 yds, but I make the approch shots from 40 yrds with confidence, from sand I needed to hit it 1-2 inches before for ball for decent results. Very nice club. Tip DO NOT practice with this wedge for warm up then hit your driver, unless you wish to use your driver as a wedge!!

It is great from a number of positions including bunkers and in the deepest of rough. You can get a lot of spin from these wedges which is helpful which you are trying to reduse you handicap.

Customer Service

The Manufacturer's service was superb and I was very happy of that.

Model Reviewed: Cleveland 588 Wedges (Rusting only)

The club is fgine, but I'd like to focus on a minor complaint that would be simple for Cleveland to fix. The club's shaft comes with a yellow sticker warning that the club is supposed to rust. This sticker should be much easier to remove. As it is, you have to commit a half hour to shaving it off, after which there remains a gummy residue which gets filthy and gives the shaft a corroded, used look. The end result: a new golf club that looks old. A new Cleveland wedge should look like a finely-crafted instrument, not like a funky old garage-sale antique.

If you think this isn't important, imagine Cleveland trying to sell the club as new with the sticker halfway peeled-off and gummy. Fewer customers would buy it, especially if it shared the shelf with clubs in perfect condition. In other words, the sticker detracts from consumer appeal, whether or not it seems like a minor grievance here.
