These clubs are an excellent balance of playability and forgiveness. The mid irons are especially good. These irons live up to the advertising: clubhead is very stable at impact and you get the desired loft at a reliable distance. In short, these irons do what irons are supposed to do: reward a competent swing with dependable performance.

These clubs are not long at all, in fact about half a club shorter for me. This is due to the fact that I played blades before these and they had a lower trajectory. They feel very nice, as good as any of my forged blades. Needed a little while to get used to the bigger heads but this is no problem. Not a fan of the triangle score lines o nthe face, but this is no problem. Excellent clubs with beautiful feel and playability. Thin top line relative to other cavity backs, forgiving in terms of despersion, much less so in terms of distance. The best forged cavity backs I have ever played.

The best feeling clubs I have ever hit. Less offset than the Ping's, more workable and just as forgiving. Longer by 15 yards on all clubs except for the sand wedge, which is 20 yards shorter. I am going to have to purchase a gap wedge to make up the difference.

I purchased a set of RM Tour fat shafts to replace my RM irons with Wilson 2.8 steel shafts. I bought them late in the fall and played only 6 rounds with them. At the time I was a 4.3 index. The worst round I shot with my new clubs in the fall was 71. I found that with the fat shaft and the forged blade, I was able to control ball flight and work the ball far better than with my old stiff shafted RMs. Mis-hit are far more forgiving. I choose to go with regular shafts and I have found it much easier to strike the ball. With the old stiff 2.8 shaft I had to hit the ball harder to make the shot solid. Fat Shaft technology is great for all levels of players. IT IS SHAME THE EXPERTS AT WILSON IN THEIR WISDOM HAVE DECIDED TO STOP MAKE FORGED CLUBS! I guess that means I will have to give up my long alliance with Wilson irons on my next new club purchase. Shame on you Wilson, us good players love your clubs too!

If you are thinking of changing your irons, TRY THESE OUT !! I have used old Ryder blades for years and the difference is incredible. Its like playing a different game. These clubs have a beautiful weight and give you the feeling that all you have to do is bring the club to the top of the swing and the club does the rest. No longer do I to worry about making the perfect swing, just stand up and hit it. When I hit it fat it stays straight and short and when hit off-center the hook/slice is less extreme which is important when playing on the type of windy links courses we have here. It has even helped my driving as these irons build confidence in your whole game. I have gained at least 2 clubs and now I hit the 9 iron 150 yds whereas with my old set it was at least a 7, sometimes a 6. Do not be fooled by bigger names like Callaway, TaylorMade, etc., for a mid to high handicapper these clubs will become your best friend.

This is a great forged set of irons. Thin top line and a beauty to look at. I hit these the same as my 990's and they go far and straight. The sweet spot is rather small and off center hits goes straight and 10-15 yards short. It also leaves a reminder of what you did. It's a great set of sticks that will only make you a better player in the long run. Ball flight is rather low similar to my 990's but the carry is a little longer on the short irons. A good buy and good bye since they closed down the Wilson Forging Plant. I enjoy these sticks because they are easy to hit straight balls and draws. The fat shaft is a little bother but is easy to get used to. A smooth swings does wonders as far as distance goes.

buoght these wilsons on a trip to the states, was looking for thin soled, good feel clubs, but not into the blades, these are awsome. i never anticipated just how much feel they would give me .the most important thing though, is the confidence they bring to my game .i will never go away from these clubs , even if i have to search the world ,and buy second hand every time .

These clubs are great, period. Not only does the ball go further, it travels straighter. Also, hitting out of the rough with accuracy is no problem. I hit a 4-iron out of deep grass(which I hit into with my driver) some 180 yards and ploped the ball right on the green. I was amazed! I highly recommend these golf clubs to anyone, beginner or expert. I only wish I could have found them for a lower price as other reviewers have.

Model Reviewed: Wilson Fat Shaft Tour Forged

I had been looking for a new set of irons for over a year. I tried the Callaways (too thick a top line and too ugly), Cobras (couldn't stand the offset in the long irons), Taylor Mades (too expensive) and finally tried a set of Wilson Fat Shaft Tour Forged. Although I haven't seen any tremendous gains in yardage, I have noticed that the ball goes much straighter on mis-hits. The heads are really beautiful and they set up great. And working the ball with these clubs is no problem--similar to my old Wilson Staffs. The thick shaft took a little getting used to, but I don't even notice it anymore. If you haven't tried these clubs, you really need to demo them. I understand Wilson is no longer forging clubs, which is a shame because I always thought they had the best forgings of anyone. But you can probably find these clubs on closeout or maybe on ebay. I highly recommend them. They are great sticks!!

What can I say besides, if you even think about some other clubs, you better try these first! I had my eye on some Titleist 990's for a while, but after one round with these, I said goodbye to the 990's and hello to the fat shaft! I loved these from the beginning, and though I usually shoot in the 90's, I just broke into the 80's with these clubs! Excellent feel, straight as an arrow, and long enough for me! What else could I ask for!! Besides I stole them on a closeout for $299+tax!!
