You can make the same mistake I made. I like the hype of getting the best advertised golf clubs. I tried from medium to the expensive ones. I never tried the ugly and cheap. But darm my big mistake, the ugly - you can get used to, the cheap - you can't complain, the benefit of XL 2000 - I'm enjoying the golf game now than before. I bought my Ping I3 2 weeks early, believe me I can hit a blade but you need to hit it on the sweetspot 100% of the time. I tried XL 2000 and never went back to my Pings. If you're on the market for new set. Or just want a game improving irons. At least try the XL2000 then you be the judge. I know you'll hesitate about the clubs being made by spalding, the looks and maybe because it's cheap. But you start enjoying the game.

Model Reviewed: TF XL2000 3-PW steel shaft regular flex

I'm a sucker for popular consenus. Just having started to learn the game, I needed a set of practice irons and spent a few days browsing at various Pro Shops. It wasn't until I saw the plethora of positive reviews at this site and golfclubreview.com that I decided to give them a try. I took a few practice swings off a tee and lost sight of the ball. Naturally, I was hooked. GRADING THE LOOKS Right when I ripped open the box, I knew I was looking at an underdog. These aren't glamorous irons; they're much like a Ford or Chevy -- a dependable set built to last. The nondescript cavity back design doesn't speak very much, but I've always had a thing for the extraordinarily plain. GRADING THE FEEL I happen to like the factory Tour Velvet-style grips, although I can understand why some gripe about them. They conform well into the hand, yet on occasion they felt slippery in moist weather. I don't think the grooves are very deep, so I have the feeling they might wear out faster than others. Not the best grips I've tried, but they look and feel good to me. The regular flex steel shaft is your typical True Temper; a perfect semblance of accuracy and balanced control. I personally hate the wobbly feeling of graphite, and the steel shafts provide a great feel both on short chip and runs as well as off the tee. I don't think there's any room for complaint here. The club face is noticeably thinner than most irons, mainly due to its titan steel build. This is a remarkable achievement in science because the feel is so soft and effortless. I've tried a lot of clubs where I used to "feel" the impact; if I were blindfolded and wearing ear plugs, I most likely wouldn't know if I hit them or not. Yes, that soft. And the unique four cambered sole that's meant to reduce friction does exactly that -- I can rip through the thick stuff with minimal friction and loss of velocity. Those guys at Spalding are making some pretty interesting inventions (ex. Infusion basketball w/ built-in pump). I gotta say these clubs rank up there among their best scientifc achievements. GRADING THE PERFORMANCE The most important factor, of course, is the overall result. I'll summarize what the last 69 reviews have been saying about these Top Flites: they're the most forgiving game improvement irons in the market, period. The realignment of mis-hits is so much greater than t

I spent one month doing research before buying this club. One report from Rankmark (www.rankmark.com) rates this club among 10 most accuracy irons on the market, and the price (even from retail) is only half (or even more) then the others. I then went to a Pro Shop with drive range and hit about 20 balls with 7 iron. Almost every ball dropped consistently on the 135 meter target. I took it without any hesitation. I can’t agree more of features “LARGER SWEET SPOT! AMAZING ACCURACY CONSISTENT LONG DISTANCE "SHOT AFTER SHOT" reported from the manufacture. This club does produce a very consistent, shot after shot. Part of the reasons is the thin titan-steel material used for the club head, as the weight is just right (for me). The combination of True Temper shaft and club head really gives me lot of confidence that I will not miss the shot, and I haven’t missed many so far. This club is very forgiveness yet it produces solid contact during impact, and the feeling is also ‘soft’. Lots of people have problem with their long irons, but I found out it’s not the case (for me). Actually, I am more confident hitting 3 or 4 iron then 5 or 7 wood from 170 meter to the green. There is only one small problem of this club: the grip. Material used out of factory is very easy to worn out on both side (where your fingers hold). I have to replace with the grip with full core. This is the club I would recommend to anyone who wants to upgrade or replace their irons. You will be very happy with the results as well as the money you spent.

I have been looking to upgrade my irons since the middle of this year and tested some popular models in Malaysia such as the X-14, I3 and Deep Red irons. I have been saving up to get the Deep Red irons custom fitted until I came across the XL2000. Now, I have never come across these irons in the shops before and was interested to find out more. The reviews here were singing praises for the XL2000 and I went around town searching for the club to demo. Unfortunately, the only ones I found is the Asian-edition of the XL2000, which looks absolutely crap although it was really cheap ($170 for 3-PW, graphite). I decided to go with the reviews here and placed my order with TGW. I only had the irons for a week now and has been to the range twice. And I'm glad to say ... these irons really are darn good. Although it's still early to say whether these irons will help me on the course, if I can hit the ball like I did on the range, then I'm sure I will be looking at sub-100 scores pretty soon.

All I can say is you can spend a hell of a lot more for a set.....and not really get any better than this. I wanted some Callaway's, and had the funds to do it, but liked the way this set hit, from 3 iron through M wedge. My only complaint, if there is one, is they only hit straight.....so don't try to work the ball a whole lot....which is OK by be me. Top Flite has made a believer out of me!

all i can say is u have to pretend u paid $800 for them to really like them. I orderd the middle wedge, and sand, and still had money left. so i went and bought a 3 and 5 wood callaway vft. not at all like the dirver. hit high, strait, far, easy. not cheap though. The xl 2000 hit strieght, (like my deep red 365 driver), longer than the previous tour model, and more back spin. I have been told i spin back out of the sand. I have really hit bad low shot to a green that to my suprise stop on the green. i hit low punch or knockdown shots that stop on the green. i test all my clubs againt new clubs, so far i walk out with the cheap one(the 2000), scratching my head.

I decided to finally replace the old dept. store set that I had. The longer irons are definitely easier to make contact with. Only minor criticism is how the lofts are tweaked to create a sense of greater distance. (Ex. PW w/45 degree loft, same loft as my old 9 iron) So, long as you have a gap wedge you'll be fine (I got a 50 degree Wilson pitching wedge). Finally, the price can't be beat.

Have to agree with everyone else. Very forgiving clubs. I'm getting good control and feel out of these. Can actually make a ball stop on the greens with them! I tried a few clubs out including steel fatshaft Wilsons. The Wilsons did not stand out enough to justify the extra price. Sure, they might not be the trendiest brand on the market, they make no big claims and they don't have a flashy marketing scheem, but they work! Oh yeah, I think they look great! Anyway, I can't tell what my club looks like when I'm swinging it and surly the result is more important than the look?!

I bought these after reading reviews and I have found out what most people who buy these clubs find out - you can't beat these clubs for the price and performance. They are very forgiving clubs. The sole designed helps people like me who tend to hti the ball heavy. I'm hitting about a half club less than my old Callaway Big Bertha's, but mis-hits go straight. I have shaved 4-5 strokes my score with these. I am consistantly hitting in the 88-91 range which is down from my usual 99 - 95 range. Hitting in 80's more than 90's now.

Well due to limited funs I have been demoing these clubs every other week (PayDay) $15.00 for 3 days. Thanks Jerry Evans, Huntsville, Al but back to the review. My last 3 scores were 89,87,85 with these clubs. I have shaved an honest 5-7 strokes off my game. That may not sound a lot but if your shooting in the 90's you know how hard it is to break into the 80's consistantly.I don't think I can make a bad shot with these irons 5-Pw watch out. I have made a couple miss error shots with the 3 iron but of well, should have used a 5 wood. I never have left a review but here is my first at $200.00 on Ebay you can't find a better deal. I want tell everyone I am right, but try the and then say I was right!
