Occasionally shoots in the 90s but not often enough :-) Had read the reviews on these irons and when I saw a new set with 50% discount ..... I wasn't actually looking for new irons at the time but I sure am glad I asked for a demo hit. At the shop, hitting into a net I was picking the ball up off the mat very cleanly and within 1/2 inch of centre every time. Credit cards are wonderful things (sometimes !). Paid A$499, about US$280 at current exchange rates. Full retail for steel, 3-PW is A$999. Played with them for real yesterday and what a great day I had. As it turned out, I don't think I hit anything lower than a 5 iron as my fairway woods were working fairly well for me. Without doubt I hit several of the best mid-short iron shots of my novice (12 month) golfing career. Very consistent length, perfect loft and arrow straight. I am an inconsistent striker of the ball but even off centre hits see the ball up and flying quite straight, albeit with maybe a 10% loss of distance. You can feel at the point of impact that you didn't quite nail it but the penalty is minimal. I had been playing with a set of Wilson 1200 Oversize graphite for the last 6+months. The XL2000s are steel shafted and I'm very glad I made the switch. I haven't lost any distance, in fact the new clubs are good for an extra 10% but I suspect this is more to do with the forgiving nature of the head design than anything to do with the shaft material. The 1200s have been good but they're not nearly as forgiving as the XL2000s. It would be interesting to see how graphite shafted XL2000s performed but for me, I'm delighted with the performance as-is and I no longer freak out about rub marks on the graphite shafts. I may be a crappy golfer but I like my gear to look good :-) While we're on the subject of looks, the Top-Flite's look good without being flashy. No crappy badges or stickers to fall off, peel etc. and nice Lamkin Crossline grips. My only disappointment with these clubs is that I didn't try them earlier, but then again, I probably wouldn't appreciate their "magic" nearly as much if that were the case. I highly recommend these clubs to golfers like me who are still developing their swing and are looking for game improvement features in their equipment.

Customer Service

Have not used customer service (hope not to)however the staff at the retailer (Drummond Golf at Cheltenham) are very helpful and I recommend them highly.

Like many other, thanx all those who have put truthful reviews for the XL2000 irons!! God bless u. I was using Titleist DCI 981 for a year already and in all fairness it helped lowered my strokes from 120s (beginner) to 100s (after a year). but promptly after using the XL2000 in 2 weeks, my score dropped to low 90s. i bet i would keep dropping over time. How do i explain this? I tested my Titleist 981 next to the XL2000 at the range. 5 bals for each brand's SW, 7, 5 and 3 irons. the titlest dispersed the ball all over the range while the XL2000 gave almost the same distance but sent the ball almost the exact spot. straight on! this is simply amazing. for those of u guys whos been coughing up 3 times more dough for irons that perform the same or less than the XL2000. think it over. but, dont get me wrong... i m keeping my titleist 981. why? once my strokes go to 70s or lower, i understand the XL2000 cant shape shots that well and that i dont need that much forgiveness once my handicap is low. conclusion: the XL2000 is great only for high to mid handicappers. its heaven sent. the best value for money anywhere in the world!!!!!!! (if top flite folks read this, send me some gifts for the free promo will ya?)

First of all, thanks to all who posted reviews about these irons on the website. I would have NEVER thought to try these clubs without your input. I've always been a Ping man, shelling out mucho-bucks for their sticks thinking they were the best. Never got used to the i3's and figured I'd try to find some used Eye2's, since they were always my favorite. Saw the info here and decided to try the XL2000's. Got a demo 5-iron from Second Swing and headed for the range. I fell in love with it and bought a graphite set 3-LW on E-Bay for $225. I love these clubs for two reasons - distance and accuracy (are there any other reasons?). I'm sure part of the distance gained is due to their loft structure, but I can't believe that's all of it. The feel of the club when you strike the ball is unbelievable - it's like butter. That's the drawback of the Ping's and Callaway's - damn club feels the same whether you hit the 7-iron shot straight down the middle 155 or 120 yards right into the water. The other great thing is that I don't have the aforementioned 120-yard 7-iron right into the water. These things are straight!!!! Hey, if you're looking for new irons, PLEASE hit these. Don't buy into the hype of the Callaway's and Ping's of the world!!!

I had an old set of TopFlite irons which were stolen several years ago. I took the insurance money and bought a set of Calloway BB X-12's. I liked the X-12s OK, but they never felt as "crisp" as those old TopFlites, or as consistent. This fall I bought a set of the XL2000s on eBay for $160, and sold the calloways for $300, and never looked back. I'll never be a scratch golfer, but I'm consistently in the low-mid 80s using these clubs. I only carry 2 woods now, because the 3 iron is so easy to hit. But the best thing about these clubs, is that I can now beat my brother!

These are by far the best performing cavity-backs on the market. But don't take my word for it, go to your local proshop, hit away at Callaways, Titleist, Taylor Mades and then try The XL irons. You'll be shocked with the feel and performance of these bad boys. I would've given these a 10 star value rating if they had it. They're almost too good to be true.

Tried it side by side with my Mizuno Comp EZ, it really lives up to the reviewers' recommendation! The diamond sole is a great innovation and it seems to help cutting through the turf if you just miss your swing fat. I was looking for an inexpensive set for travel and this is the perfect match. I hit three 7I at the same spot right after I opened them from the box. Very forgiving on misses. Of course it doesn't feel as good as the Comp EZ if you make good contact but I think I can live with that. This set of irons deserves much better reputation and attention than it has.

This in a real deal.. I played DCI oversize irons for 2 years and switched to these this spring... They are great, they feel solid and hit the ball pure. I never understood why they are selling at next to nothing. If you can pick up a set for $200 - it is an absolute steal if you look at performance vs. price. I may go back to a midsize head, but only because of potential improvement.

I have recently purchased a set of XL-2000 irons based on the good reviews I've read in this site. I had the opportunity to hit them once last Friday for only 6 holes in my local course (without any practice) and I am really excited. The long irons are 10 yards longer than my previous iron and much more easier to hit (always straight). The feel is much better too. It seems like the sweet-spot is huge, because I hit some shots with the toe of the club and still I had a pretty long and straight flight. Distance is quite long for me: +200 yds. for 3 iron (carry and roll) and 130 yds. (air) for PW. I left my 5 wood out of the bag (previous 200 yds. club for me) and I keep 3 additional wedges: a 49° PW that I will use now as a Gap wedge (105-120 yds.); a 54° Attack wedge that I am using as my SW (easier to hit from the fairway; less bounce but still easy in the bunkers) and a 60° LW. Eventhough I have hit them once I am very happy with this irons and I can't wait to go and play again. I am sure I will improve very soon my 23 handicap. Didn't I mention I love the way they look in my bag?. If you are looking for an excellent set of clubs, you can't let Top-Flite XL-2000 pass by. At this price they are even cheaper than less quality "look-a-like" clubs.

I'm like the rest of the reviews, after reading all of these I had to try them. I couldn't believe how easy they are to hit, the feel and control. I've played with them for a few months because I thought maybe I was really on my game, but these irons are in my bag to stay. In a company outing I hit 16 greens in regulation two days in a roll, and I have never done that before. I couldnt believe feel, distance and control. My buddy went and bought him a set. I order the L wedge and around the green, I have confidence to get up and down with it. Thanks for everyone giving their honest reviews.
