XL2000 (6-9, PW,MW,SW,LW)
As a new dad I rarely have time to play anymore. Following a couple of questionable scoring rounds, I decided it was time to reconfigure my arsenal and find a less expensive but quality brand of forgiving irons. After reading these reviews and demoing, a set of 8 (6-9,PW,MW,SW,LW) XL2000s landed squarely in the bag. They're long, extremely forgiving, and cost effective. And, until I can play twice a week again, they're in the bag to stay. Customer Service Spalding's customer service is top notch. I had a question regarding the specs of the XL2000's and received immediate response both by phone and email. XL 2000
Well, I finally had to join the XL2000 band wagon. I thought I was one who could not even lower my golfing standards to anything except Ping, Titliest, Callaway, and other top line brands. Well, after purchasing about 10 sets of these topline brands and struggling some from one set to another I finally tried my golf partners new set of XL 2000 he purchased for $149 on E-Bay. I really had to lower myself to try those over My Ping I3 OS, but I did. AND..the results were terrific. Nearly every shot went straight at the target with excellent fell. I could not believe what I was feeling or seeing. How could a those clubs work better than the Toplines? All I can say they do. I have since purchased a set of XL 2000 w/stiff graphite shaft and boy do they perform even better than the steel ones I tried. I am super satisfied and would recommend anyone to try these. Topflight has really messed in their nest by not discountinuing these irons. I still have the Ping I3's in the closet with the rifle shafts.. I bought the graphite shafted Top Flite XL 2000 Iron set on Ebay and improved my handicap about 6-8 strokes the first round I played. I am very impressed on how forgiving these clubs are--they are a light club with the majority of the weight in the club head producing a perfect weight balance and distribution. The balance of these clubs helped me balance my swing transition from the back swing to the follow through which produced the best results for me. Very satisfied!! I like these irons better than any iron I have ever used. These are very forgiving. I think the sweet spot is as wide as the club because no matter where you hit them the ball seams to fly off the club. I had trouble hitting the 3-4 irons with my other sets but not with these. I hit them straighter and longer than any other iron I have ever used. I went out and shot a 79 with the 2nd. time I played them where normally I have been shooting in the high 80's. Not much to say that hasn't been said alrady. For the money, there is nothing in their class. Forgiving, straight and comfortable. My advice is to spend the extra money for the Graphite shafts, and seek out the stiff shafts if you need them. Tough to find the stiff, but worth it if your play warrants it. |

I purchased these irons after much research back in December 2002. I had started golfing with a "Knight" starter set of clubs, and the irons were getting pretty beat up, so I felt it was time to move on to something else. After all the rave reviews from this site, freegolfinfo.com, and the excellent write up at golfclubreview.com, I had to give these a shot. I was able to get them for a steal off E-bay. Simply put, I love these irons. They have a wide sole, not as much as Big Berthas, but similar to the eye. I have been hitting these extremely long and straight, and gone are the "clunky" feel of the Knight irons. These Top Flites feel great and give me pretty good feedback on my hits. I think these are an excellent choice for a high handicapper wanting a sold set of reliable game improvement irons. These are "sleepers" on the market, and can be had for nothing on E-bay. Get while the gettin's good! Customer Service Never had to use. |

Okay, so you are looking for a great game improvement club that will last, but you can't afford to pay $900 for a set of Big Berthas...or, you can afford a set of em, but you can't fathom dropping a grand for golf clubs... Buy the XL2000s. These are really nice clubs. Spaulding (maker of Ben Hogans) originally thought they would sell these around 400 or 500 dollars, so these are not cheap clubs. I can't tell you if these clubs will be longer then your current set (they were longer then my last set by about a club), and they aren't miracle swing cures (but they hit high and straight and are VERY forgiving), but these are the best VALUE in Name Brand clubs. The short irons are accurate, and I am learning to hit the longer ones pretty well. Buy em, unless you are a great golfer (and maybe if you are) you won't be disappointed. Customer Service Haven't had to use them. Similar Products Used: Dunlop Quattro (My first set) Callaway X-14s (I was saving my pennies for these until I hit the XL 2000s) Adam Gts (Nice Clubs) |

My brother purchase a set of Titleist 822-OS and I loved them. Couldn't afford them but noticed these resembled them in size and feel and read all the great reviews on golfreview.com.
