I tried out several different models when i came to buy these in 2002. I came to buy these because they gave great distance and were extremely forgiving. The price was cheap compared to Taylor Mades and other great clubs. Im buying a Gap and Lob wedge soon to finish off the set. |

Bought a set of these with the steel shaft after reading all the glowing reviews on this site. I was looking to gain some distance and consistency. I normally shoot about 81-83. These irons never made it off the range for me. I wasn't thrilled with the look or feel. The distance was OK. But I really was hitting some of the worst shots ever with the short irons. Kinda scary. I have 3 boys and didn't want any of them to even get their hands on these. At the same time I bought these I bought a set for a friend who shoots around 100. He also wanted to gain some distance so I got his in the regular flex graphite shaft. He loves them and gained a couple clubs. (He is now hitting his 6 iron 150.) He's thanked me a dozen times :-) Customer Service NA Similar Products Used: Eye 2 (nice), Gooseneck (nah), Cleveland VAS (short),S2H2 (long), Mizuno Ti Insert (OK), Ram FX2 (short and consistent) |

I'm a 18 handicapper, usually breaking 90 once every five rounds. I've been playing for a year. I play Callaway Big Bertha 2002s and was looking for an iron that might be "it". I tested the Berthas against the XL 2000s twice at the range. I looked for the dispersion pattern on the face of the clubs and the patterns to specific targets on the range. Distance wise the clubs hit the same. The dispersion patterns on the faces were wider for the XLs, perhaps due to the massive size of the faces. The XLs were not as accurate, typically 5-10 yards off. The sound of the XLs was a thwack vs. the Big Bertha's clink. Both are easy to hit and serve us higher handicapers well. I played a round of golf with the XLs recently and can definitely say that the 3 and 4 irons are easier to hit and straighter than the Berthas. If you can find a set of these it may be worth investing in, especially if you're just learning. However, I don't think the 7-PW in particular are any more accurate or hit further than my Callaways. Very good game improvement irons for the money. (D-0 swing weight). Four out of five stars, but I'll stick with the Berthas for now. |

I bought the display model about three years ago at my local sporting goods store. The clubs hit very nicely and are very forgiving on off center hits. I feel these clubs would be good for anyone who has just started out playing and needs a solid iron that reacts well to off center hits. The main reason I do not use them anymore is because as my swing improved, the shafts became to weak so I just bought new irons instead of getting these re-shafted. A very nice set of irons for players who are looking for more forgiveness and better value. Don't expect the club to fix your bad swing. But rather make it easier to hit a good one. Clubs look well-made and build up confidence at setup. Recommend them highly. Similar Products Used: Titleist OS 822, Ping i3, Callaway X14. |

Simply put, this was a better deal than I could have ever hoped for! I'd been looking for some new irons for about a month, and after reading reviews on this website and others, I'd settled on the XL 2000's. I looked on eBay and other outlet sites, and the prices for new were going for around $180 (regular flex, steel shaft). I saw a great set of "almost new" irons there and they looked fantastic. I won the auction at $130, and came to find out that the clubs were being sold from Austads Golf! Anyway, the first time out on the driving range with these baby's I was hitting almost 20 yards more per club. I've got a little bit of a hitch in my swing that makes me shank the ball a little bit, bit I've almost worked it out on these clubs and I am confident my game will only get better. I played 18 holes yesterday, and dropped 10 strokes from the last round I played before getting these clubs! I can definitely recommend these to anyone! |

Bought these clubs after my first year in the game to replace my cheap beginnersset. got 4-sw including bag and putter for $ 300. Big improvement in terms of consistancy, not so much in distance. Clubface is realy hot wich is good for full shots but wants some adjusting for the shortgame. Got a 52* gapwedge that does the job arround the green excellent. Tried some other sets, but the straightshooting xl 2000's are the thing for me at this stage of my golfingcapacity. Knocked 15 strokes of my normal handicap in 6 months! READ THE REVEIWS FROM NUMEROUS SITES ABOUT HOW LONG AND STRAIGHT THESE CLUBS WERE. SO ONE NIGHT ON E-BAY I SAW THEM AND THOUGHT I'D GIVE THEM SHOT. GREAT PRICE FOR GRAPHITE SHAFTS AND THESE CLUBS ARE LONG AND STRAIGHT. JUST AS EVERYONE SAYS. BETTER THEN MY CALLAWAY AND WILSON DEEP REDS. I've been through a couple sets of clubs and finally decided on these, largely based on reviews from this site. The XL2000s are solid and after a year of heavy use I can say I'm really happy with the purchase. Best thing I can say is that I don't even think about the clubs -- just pull out the one I want and hit the ball. The quality is top notch, even if they aren't the flashiest irons out there. Bottom line -- the XL2000s at under $200 "perform" just as well for the average hacker like myself as the $800+ Pings, TaylorMades, etc. Up to you where you want to put the money...I dedicated the savings to some books and range balls! after reading the reviews here, i decided to buy these and see what the hype is all about. bought them for $99 new. went to the range and i'm really impressed. very easy to hit, and well balanced. they are a bit oversized, but the weight is the same as my taylor made when i weighed them at my job. i'm never been a big fan of cheap brands, but these irons made me a believer. afterall, i have $1500 worth of clubs and bag when playing. they don't look as good, and as a result they definitely won't be the envy of other golfers, but they sure are awesome irons. but they sure envy you when you are beating them with your $99 irons and they have their $800 irons. the distance is about the same as my taylor made rac, but they are straight and mis-hits are almost nonexistant. these iron are well worth it.
