After learning with an old set of blades that barely had any offset, I bought a set of Top Flight Tours that I really loved. The next year I was bitten by the "new gear" bug and desperately wanted a new set of irons. So I got onto this site and posted a question as to what set I should get. People replied "Don't bother wasting your money and invest in some lessons!" A little harsh, but solid advice. After countless lessons with my instructor, endless rounds on public courses and hours practicing, my instructor advised that I get a set that would be able to "keep up" as I advanced in skill. After numerous recommendations and demos, I chose the 981s. Can't say anything bad about them and they remind me of my uncles old set of blades. At this stage in the game, I can't tell if it's the lessons or the clubs that have improved my game, but I know for sure that it feels perfect everytime I make contact with the 981s.....and this game IS a lot about feel, right? Customer Service Never needed them yet? Similar Products Used: Tommy Armour 845 (original), Taylor Made Super Steels, Top Flite Tour Oversize, Callaway X-12, old set of Spalding blades |

I hit these clubs longer and straighter than my old set (Tommy Armour 855). The ball flight is also higher than the 855's. Great feel on the sweet spot. You can feel shots not hit on the sweet spot but they don't go far off line. Customer Service I got a hole in 1 using a titleist 3 wood and they sent me an engraved pewter bag tag. My handicap has been around 10 for the last few years. reading many appraisals and having tried many clubs ( ping, mizuno, cobra ), i decided to go for 981.Got fitted at my course because i wanted a higher trajectory. Settled for rifle 4.5 and so far so good. compare to my 845's that i had for 8 years, i would say these are less forgiving but more rewarding on distance and also less dispersion. Customer Service Got fitted on friday and my clubs arrived one week later. Just great Similar Products Used: ping i3, mizuno, cobra |

What a sweet set of sticks. Switching from Ping, I was looking for a smaller, heavier, and good looking stick. I also bought the Titleist Raw 52 and 56 wedges and love them. Customer Service none Similar Products Used: Ping isi-k |

I have had my TA 845 for 8 years and decided that it was time to change since nothing was happening in my golf game. I tried a number of clubs and found that the 981 was the best one to develop my game. I did a swing analyze and from that I had my 981 custom made, no extra charge. The 981 definitely live up to the Titleist motto, “Serious clubs for serious golfers”. Similar Products Used: Armour 845, Ping i3 blade, Cleveland TA3 |

Excellent clubs! I have been changing clubs a few times, but i have been trying with a lot of my friends clubs, and i haven't felt anything better than hitting these Titleist clubs. Nice feeling, very forgiven, good distance and accuracy. Try them out guys! Similar Products Used: None |

These are amazing irons i work them from left to right with every shot. I also get them very high so i'm playing some Drop And Stop golf. Good irons for all handicaps. Similar Products Used: None |

If you want a club to get the ball in the air, then look no further. I was a little hesitant to go with a Titleist because I was told that I should have more of a game improvement iron (ala Callaway x-12s). Well the x-12s were very light, looked riduculous and I didn't hit them well because they didn't 'feel' right. So against all recommendations I got the 981s. I just feel so much better at address and love these clubs. Longer in the firm steel as my regular graphite x-12s, but deadly accurate. Of course a club is a personal preference, but I am very satisfied and would recommend anyone to check out these clubs. Similar Products Used: Callaway x-12 |

I had my Callaway X-14's for approximately 3 months. I had trouble with the clubs from the moment I purchased them. I thought it was the offset, and after continuted use I would get used to them. It never happened. Every shot was inconsistant. I lost a club and onehalf from my old set of ISI Pings. I continuted to hit on the toe of these clubs, and had never had that problem with other irons. Shots would tend to fly or not fly. Distance was extremely hard to count on with these irons. I decided to go back to Titleist 981's, and I am hitting the club in the middle of the face and straight. I have tried all the clubs I am going to try because I keep coming back to Titleist. For the money these are the best clubs on the market, and I have tried them all. The Callaway's swing weight was too light for my swing. The 981's set up great and finish the swing they start with little effort. Do yourself a favor and save your money in the long run and try the any Titleist club. The old DCI's, 962's, 981's, or the 990's are great irons. It just depends upon your swing.
