I bought these clubs cheap because the previous owner lost his 3 iron. I loved the way they looked and felt in my hands (especially with the Winn grips). They have taken some getting use to because I use to play Cobra oversize irons. I took them to the range and fell in love with them! They are a bit heavy and it really helps me to slow down and be more fluid. You can really feel the club head during your swing. I don't really like the sound they make even on pure hits, but as long as they go where I want them to that is fine by me. I would recommend for mid to low handicapers! |

Hitting these irons are like throwing darts at the pin, They are straight! They lack some ability to move the ball but how much do you really need if you know that the ball will go exactly where you aim. Customer Service N/A Similar Products Used: 845 oversize, ping eye 2 |

I bought these irons 2 years ago when I was about a 15-20 handicap. Since then I have dropped to a 8. I am 16 years old, and this is my first real set of irons...and I love them. They are great for any level of player. These Titleist''s are extremely forgiving. For example I hit a 5 iron about 185 yards if i hit it pure. With these irons, I can hit a shot off the "toe" of the club, and will hit it only about 5 yards less and usually as or sometimes even more straight as hitting it of the sweet spot. I love these irons...they are long, straight, and well built clubs. |

None I''ve used these for about a year now. They are just great for mid handicappers and work pretty well for low handicaps as well. There is a little more offset than I would like but it promotes nice draws on longer clubs. Easy to hit. Best iron out there for mid handicaps! They can be easily worked. Great feel for a cast head! Good distances. I have gotten a little too good for these clubs now though and am in need of new irons. Any suggestions? I like the TA-1s and MP-33s. Email me if you would like to buy my 981''s. Thanks for reading this! Customer Service Great help at Golf USA. Very patient. They let me demo the clubs as much as I wanted before I bought! None I won theses clubs in a contest at work. I had been playing with ping zing. I was reluctant to switch but went ahead anyway. 1st time out I left my woods in the bag and shot a 79. Sweet if you hit the center. Easy to get over anxious and shank. Super easy to draw...a bit of a challenge to fade. Similar Products Used: None |

I'm coming off a 20-year golf layoff. I've only played two rounds since April, but I hit balls four or five days a week. I've been working with a pro, Cheryl Thomas, who has fixed my set up and alignment, and a lot of my swing, but she also told me to get new irons because we were constantly trying to bend my swing to my old flat-lie Pings. In 1978 a pro sold me a set of orange-dot Karsten I irons. (Don't ask my whay . . . I'm 6'1" and measure 37" from my wrist crease to the ground.) So, last night I took the 981's to the range, and it was a "Night and Day" experience. My Karstens felt like I was hitting rocks with another rock lashed to a stick--Flintstone style. These irons feel like I'm flipping butter with a knife. And these are range balls we're talking about! No more bends to the right; I even had to weaken my grip to tame the draw. And forgiving? With the Karstens, I hit almost everything toward the toe. A miss-hit 2-iron would end up 20 yards short of the green and--I kid you not--20 to 30 yards wide right. Now I'm hitting many more in the sweet spot, and even toward the shaft sometimes. With the 981's, when I miss-hit the 2-iron the same way, the ball still ends up green high and maybe 10 to 15 FEET off the putting surface. But I still get good feedback. I can still FEEL the miss-hit, I just don't have to LOOK at it. And I picked up two clubs in distance. My 981 8-iron CARRIES 150; my 2-iron CARRIES 200-210, off the turf, no wind. And these are range balls, I'm 56 years old, and I'm not swinging hard, folks! During the past five months, I had resigned myself to 120-yard 9-irons, 150-yard 6 irons, and having to reach for the fairway metal to hit it past 190. No more! Even back when I was playing, I never got better than a 17, but I'm thinking I'll be doing considerably better than that now. Similar Products Used: Ping Kasten I irons, 1-PW |

I've been playing these for some time now & they're the best irons I've ever hit. I'm a 4-handicapper with them & have developed a strong, repeating swing with consistent low-trajectory, penetrating ball flight & a right-to-left draw. I use the 1-, 2- or 3-iron off the tee & have essentially stored my driver in the bag. These are sweet clubs! Buy the 981s, not the 990s - you'll be much happier with your consistency. A beautiful set of clubs. I am a high 80's low 90's player and I absolutely love these irons. The irons are heavy and if you have a good swing just swing smooth and slow and you will be able to attack pins. These are the best irons on the market! Customer Service Great, I email titleist every few days with some questions or comments and they always email me back within a few days. When into a pro shop and saw one set of 981s. Took the whole set to test ... I'm in love! Went to the driving range to test ... awesome. Never hit it as long and straight ever. I traded my 990 for these Graphite 981. Definitely worthy. Similar Products Used: Titleist DCI 990 |
