A great offering by Titleist as they are now jumping into the mass-market iron theme. Consistent, soft (feedback may be dulled a little too much, but the Sensicore may have added to that), high ball flight, forgiving (great out of rough), and LONG. Gained 30 yds. per club. Now hit 9 iron 150 instead of 120. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

I went to a Cobra/Titleist demo day thinking the 762 would be my eventual choice. Even though I am new to the game I thought that I could make the 762 work for me. The Cobra OS was eleminated immediately because a very metal feel. I enjoyed both the 762 and 822OS, but in the end the extra offset of the 822OS made the difference. I was just more consistant with the 822OS. After spending over an hour with the titleist representative because of my moderate swing speed he strongly recommended the 822OS and I agreed. Both Titleist clubs are top notch and a great addition to anyones bag.

I wanted to leave another short assessment of these irons. In particular, in response to the poor review that the person a couple of reviews ago left. Do you really think these irons rate a 1 out of 5? These are not blades, they were not made to shape shots nor do they have the appearance of blades at address. They are however, a nice alternative for people that don''''t usually shoot in the 70''''s as you say you do. I usually shoot in the mid-80''''s with an occasional score in the 70''''s. I played nine holes with these irons a few days ago, only the third time I played them and shot an even par 36 on a moderately long course. For me, these irons do exactly what Titleist said they do. They hit straight, straight, straight and with very consistant distances at that. If you are interested in more consistant ball flight and a forgiving club, stop at a Titleist Demo days and try them out. And try the Nippon shaft too. It really works for me. Perhaps it will for you too.

I have only been playing for 3 years - waited for retirement! In those 3 years I have hit just about everything (didn''''t buy, just hit). When I got serious about a new set of irons, I never gave Titleist a thought, since I believed they were all "players" clubs. Checked out a half dozen 6 irons for a week, and the 822 just kept winning in all departments. The Nippon shaft is a marvel at 95 grams. I am hitting steel at least a club longer than graphite and most important - right on target. Great clubs for ME. As for the last review, if I were shooting in the 70''''s I would be looking at 762''''s - not oversized, substantial offset irons. Have a Prozac and relax. :)

Customer Service

I wanted some custom adjustments. The shop called Titleist on a Wednesday and the clubs were in my bag the following Wednesday. Great.

UNBELIEVABLE! IS THIS REALLY THE BEST CLUB TITLEIST COULD COME UP WITH FOR THE AVERAGE GOLFER? AT ADDRESS THIS THING LOOKS LIKE A GARDEN TOOL. FORGIVENESS IS DECENT, DISTANCE IS GOOD AND BALL FLIGHT IS HIGH AND RESONABLY STRAIGHT. FEEL DEFINATELY IS LACKING AND PLAYABILITY IS NIL. IF YOU SHOOT IN THE MID 130''S AND SLICE EVERYTHING YOU STAND OVER (INCLUDING YOUR PUTTER), THIS IS THE CLUB YOU SHOULD CONSIDER. IF YOU HAVE EVEN A CLUE ON HOW TO HIT A BALL, LOOK AT SOMETHING ELSE. THESE THINGS HAVE MORE BOUNCE THAN A SUPERBALL AND WANT TO CLOSE UP LIKE A NUN WHEN YOU LAY THEM ON THE GROUND. LOOK AT TM 360''S, TA5''S OR TA7''s, CGX''S, KING COBRA SS, DEEP REDS, ANYTHING! THESE MIGHT BE A BIGGER DISASTER FOR ACUSHNET THAN THE COBRA CXI. THE DCI762 IS A GOOD STICK, BUT I BET THAT CLUB IS REALLY PISSED OFF THAT IT HAS TO LOOK EVEN REMOTELY LIKE THE 822OS. TITLEIST WILL PROBABLY SELL A BUTTLOAD OF THESE BECAUSE EVERY CLUB PRO IN THE WORLD WILL RECOMMEND THEM TO GET FREE CRAP FROM THE TITLEIST REPS, BUT USE YOUR HEAD AND AT SOMETHING ELSE. DO YOU REALLY THINK PHIL AND SERGIO, FAXON, O''MEARA, AND ALL THE REST OF THOSE GUYS PLAY ANYTHING THIS UGLY? NOPE.

Great clubs! I had the old DCI Oversize plus clubs for about 5 years and did not want to get rid of them until I demo''''ed the new 822''''s. I was sold on the spot. At least 1 club longer than the older oversized. Great profile.

Attended a demo for Titleist Clubs just for the fun of it and came away with a set of the 822OS. Believe me, I had no intention of purchasing anythng that day but the more I hit these irons, the more I believed these had to replace the Callaway X-14 Pro Series that I have used for the past year and a half. The ball flight was straight as an arrow and while a little higher than the Pro Series, still penetrating. Distances were as long or longer than the clubs I am currently using. I was a surprised at how soft they felt at impact. I knew immediately when I didn''t hit the face in the middle. Now, remember, these are player improvement clubs. They are not "blades" and working the ball can be difficult. I am willing to trade that part of MY game for a forgiving club that seems very hard to hit off line. The Nippon stock shafts really feel smooth and not near as "harsh" on off center hits as the True Temper shafts. They also seem to have better shock absorbing effect than the graphite shafts I currently use. All in all, the demo set was impressive and I purchased a set. I''ll play them a few times and come back to this forum and provide additional comments.

I demoed several clubs before choosing my 822s. The reason I went for the 822s is simple: they were the best club by far. I was at least a club and a half longer than my old clubs (DCI OS). They fly high and long and seem very accurate. I used to play blades (before my DCIs) and would never consider going back to them now. These are obviously different clubs to blades, but for what I give up in feel and the ability to shape a shot, I more than make up in consistency and forgiveness. Every shot seems to go where I want it. I am the sort of golfer that if I do make a bad swing (and we all do), then I want to get away with it. I can usually tell that I made a bad swing, so why should I be punished for it? The only criticism is that the clubs seem to fly too high, and with the poor spring (and winter) we''ve had in the UK, the ball just plugs in the damp greens. Roll on the summer (if you can call it that here!), so I can try them properly! In short, I am so confident with my 822s that my scores are shooting down. I would recommend them to any level of golfer. Buy some!!!!

Customer Service

Excellent. Titleist replaced my 975D driver with a brand new one when the plug came in to the head.
