I've been a Callaway guy for awhile now. Last November I got laid off and got a large severence package. I had a set of Hawkeye VFT in graphite custom fit for me. While they were long, easy to hit, they were not very accurate but at $1500 for the set (with all the wedges which were not great) I was going to stick with my irons. Two weeks ago 5 of the heads started to separate from the shaft. I was really upset and decided to go back to steel. I did quite a bit of looking around. I've always been a "game improvement" guy and thought Titleist clubs were for 19 year old freaks or idiots that could not hit them. Well this set is VERY different. With the Nippon 95 gram steel shaft these clubs ROCK! They are high and long and for the first time in a while I'm getting feedback. I always thought these clubs were for players, and being a 12 handicap I'm not a player but these clubs fit in my bag, they set up great and have a quality feel I'm not used to. VERY solid. Finally, after many years, I get Titleist. I also bought two Vokey wedges to go with the rest of the set. Give these irons a look if your looking at TM 360, Ping O-size, Mizuno MX20, or anything Callaway. Off the tee the 3-4 Irons are the best long irons for a mid-high handicapper without question. I played old knock-offs for so long, that I forgot what truly great feel like. Hitting shots true and straight is the name of my game now, and I have regained much confidence from outside 180 yds. Simply put, there is no doubt in my mind that these irons have knocked 4-5 strokes off of my game in little under 3 months. If you are looking to spend the money for the clubs of your choice, without sacrificing quality product or customer service, then by all means please do yourself a favor and try these irons! It will almost surely bring your game to a new level of enjoyment. p.s. Don't pay any mind to the negative reviews these clubs have received on this board. They are from people with large, unforgiving egos! Customer Service Never had a bad experience Similar Products Used: I-3 OS, MX-20, XL2000, X-14, TM320 and then some...don't miss the 822's! |

Needing to upgrade from a set of mid-80's Rams, but never able to decide on anything, I gave my wife a list of models and told her to buy me any one for my birthday. She ended up buying a set of Taylor Made 320s, graphite shafts. I played 3 rounds with them and while they felt OK, I just didn't seem to get the distance I'm used to with the old Rams. I was consistently a club short. So back to the dealer. I tried Taylor Made 360s, Orlimar HipSteels, and the Titleist 822 OS. Right away the Titleists felt the best. So that's what I ended up with (+1/2 in, and 2 degrees up) I've now played 3 rounds, and just love these clubs. They're definitely straight (which is good for me) and plenty long with good trajectory. There is no question I'm hitting more greens from all distances. I think the slight oversize helps, because I tend to hit toward the toe. They don't quite have the feel of the Rams, which let you know immediately good or bad, but I don't care because the results are so much better Customer Service No problems Similar Products Used: Taylor Made 320, 360, Orlimar HipSteel |

I am a high handicap and played about a year. The first set I used was Homa 802 H&F set but never been able to use from 5 up. I intended to switch to a new set which allows me to hit with at least 5 to 4 iron and have tried a number of forgiving set. And eventually, once I tried the 822OS, I settled for it. I can't descript more but you have to try it to know how good it is. The only con is the look is not fancy at all. But I feel like I am playing with a more por clubs. Customer Service Not yet tried. Any in Hong Kong? Similar Products Used: Ping, BridgeStone, Homa, CustomMade and others. |

I received these clubs as a gift, with the stock steel shaft, regular flex. I must admit, at first I was VERY uncomfortable with them. The set I was playing I had built myself, very similar to the DCI962s. I had them adjusted 2 degrees upright, after a fitting session, the regular flex was actually A-OK for my swing, very smooth tempo. The first couple sessions on the range were less than spectacular, the sole of this club is bigger than I am used to, and they are MUCH lighter with the 95g shaft. Even the "rib" grip was different, I use the similar but non-ribbed Velvet round grip. I hit very high, but often pushed left (I'm a lefty) shots. Also, very straight, with little curve at all. It seemed to feel like I was hitting most shots fat, with the club bouncing into the ball, I didn't seem to lose distance, but contact was definately strange. I've now played about a half a dozen rounds and spent more time on the range with them, and I have to say that I'm very happy with them! It took a while but I'm now hitting more greens than ever (putting now...that's another story). I'm getting crisper contact, and the clubs are very forgiving. For some reason I battle the occasional BIG pull or push, but I attribute it to my inconsistant swing than the clubs. More avid golfers (I was a single digit last year) may not like the look and feel of these clubs, and they definately aren't for those who want to "work" each shot, though I am now able to move the ball more than my initial trial. All in all, a great club for the vast majority of us, who either don't practice alot, or who do, but haven't quite gotten to that consistent level. I hit them maybe a half a club futher, but probably just due to very strong lofts. You might want to add a gap wedge if you get this set. Enjoy!! Customer Service Great, we sent the clubs back to Titleist after my fitting and they adjusted them at no charge. Similar Products Used: 975D Driver |

I tried five different sets of irons before deciding on these. I hit these more accurately than any other iron I've ever tried. I also get better distance with these than any other set of irons I've owned. The more I use them, the more I like them. I hope to bring my score down into the 90's this summer thanks to these irons. The Mizuno MX-20 would have been my second choice, I hit them almost as accurately. Similar Products Used: Mizuno MX-20, Callaway Big Bertha, Wilson Fat Shaft, Cleveland TA-5 |

I tested a number of different irons on the driving range - Pings, Callaways, TaylorMade and the 822OS were far superior in distance and accuracy. Had old Powerbilt TPS clubs which are known for their accuracy, but these were just as accurate and I gain 1 1/2 club length. A game improvement club. I think Skippy, who wrote on April 8, must have had a bad day. Customer Service Good Similar Products Used: Ping, Callaway, Powerbilt TPS |

Previously I was hitting Ping I-3 Blades and would have a great deal of difficulty gaining distance. I finally came to my senses and purchase a little more of an appropriat club in the 822. Instantaniously, I gained approx. 10-15yards/ club. The club is very FORGIVING and Ball flight is very high. OVerall these clubs get a 9.5 out of ten. The only drawback or con in my eyes seems to be the somewhat cheap/fragile looking kevlar/weighted stickers on the back of the club face. I am afraid they will peale off over time?
