My expereience with the RAC OS are not so good compare the the other reviewers. I like my X-14 (stiff graphite) very much but had thought about playing steel shafts for better accuracy for some time. The RAC OS I bought came with steel stiff shafts. They are 1 club shorter than my X-14 which may be due to shaft weight difference. But they are not very accurate either, I kept on hitting them to the left. The harsh vibration from mis-hits are a little too much for me too. I also felt my old X-14 is more forgiving. I end up sold the RAC OS and went back to my X-14. I should have RAC OS with graphite shafts for a fair comparison. But I truly doubt they would be longer than other clubs.

My son just started golf, so rather than buy him a used set of irons, I gave him my 8 year old Cobra set and purchased the TaylorMade RAC OS irons (stiff shaft) for myself. This is only the second set I've owned. Am an honest 18 handicap and have moments of playing decent - lowest score has been 85 on a decent course. I have used these clubs now for two rounds. Have not had the experience of others in the sense of increased distance, but clearly they are more forgiving on missed hits on the toe. So far am very pleased.

Model Reviewed: Taylor Made Rac OS

I could not decide whether to buy the Rac LT or the OS. In the end, I bought the OS. At first, I hated it, because every shot tended to draw. Compared to the LT, the (9 iron) the OS has 2x the offset than that of the LT. OS=5mm the LT=2.5mm. It took me over 20 trips to the range to get used to it, and I actually thought about returning these irons, simply because I could not control the severe draw. Worst of all, my score balloned over 100. After adjusting my grip, my stance, swing and the ball placement, these irons are the most accurate I have ever played. So accurate, that I actually hit the flag 2 out 4 tries. I am gaining over 30 yards from my previous irons and hittng the 3 iron farther than some people are hitting with their drivers. Feel and response is excellent. (I guess it's because of those cartridges) The grip feels too soft and I think time will tell on their durability. It took me a long time (with lots and lots of patience) to get use to these irons, but I am glad I kept it. Since I changed everything from my swing, stance etc, I doubt that I can swing my Callaways or any other irons for that matter as accurate as these. I haven't taken these out to the course since I changed everything about my game, but I'll predict that I'll be shooting in the 70's (if not less.)

Model Reviewed: RAC OS/ Mid Rescue Combo

Being I have troubles hitting a 3&4 iron, I decided to buy the Mid Rescue Combo. I'm pleased I did. First, the Mid Rescue 3&4 are quickly becoming my favorite clubs in the bag. They are VERY easy to hit and work well out of the rough and bunkers (I hear you can even chip with them). Enough said about the Rescue clubs. I've read several post about the irons being very long..... I didn't find this. I use to hit Callaway x-14's. I think the RAC OS are on par with them, but not long or easier to hit. I do however like the "look" of the RAC OS over the x-14s. They have more of a polished finish to them. I went with the stiff steel which seems to work fine (I hit a 8 iron 150 yards). One problem I do have is the grips! I've read several post stating the grips are slick and I agree. TM needs to fix this ASAP. So if you're thinking of buying a set, have the pro shop change them out upfront for you. Overall I am very pleased with my purchase and feel I will shave a few strokes of my score with Mid Rescues replacing my 3 and 4 irons.

This is a follow up to a review posted July 8th. . . Previously I stated I was hitting the 8-iron 150 yards. Now that I have a feel for these clubs I am hitting the 9-iron 150 yards, 8-iron 160 yards and the 5-iron 200 yards. I have worked out a few bugs with my swing and these irons are truly amazing. I have learned to control the draw I spoke of in my last review and overcame the slick grips with the use of a glove. I have increased my distance and accuracy with the help of these irons. If I could only do the same with my putting, I'd be making my tour debut a lot sooner.

Let me just start off by saying that I have never, ever even remotely liked anything that Taylor Made has put out. I hated the tinny feel/sound of their drivers and wasnt especially fond of the dead feel of most of their cavity back irons. Wow have I made a complete 180*. Within the past month, I have purchased TMs r540 driver and rac irons 3-lw. I was in the market for new irons and tested all the models that I could get my hands on without even looking at TM because of aforementioned disdain for TM products. When all other irons were tested, I forced myself to pull out the rac OS 5 iron to demo. I couldn't believe the feel of this game improvement club... ...BUTTER! Hit it again... ...BUTTER! 50 shots later alternating between X-16s, Pingi3s, Deep Reds, and TA7s, the choice to be made was obvious. I went to local golf store and purchased 3-LW. Yes I even replaced my beloved Cleveland 56*, and 60* wedges with the rac chrome wedges which are both gorgeous and feel great. The only thing I didn't love about these irons was the stock grips. I special ordered my set with rifle 6.0 steel shaft, 2 degrees upright, with the TM tourvelvet full cord grip. I have only played 5 rounds with these irons, but 4 of these rounds were lower than my previous personal bests with previous irons-Tommy Armour 845s(great club I hated taking out of my bag for emotional reasons).Bottom line, if you shoot in the 80s or higher, your game will improve with irons. If you are better than this, I recommend the rac LTs which you can work more effectively, but are still very forgiving with a great BUTTER feel as well.

Customer Service

Took three and a half weeks to get my special order irons but TM said that it would have only been 1-2 weeks if I didnt want rifle shafts which TM no longer puts on their irons, they have switched to dynamic gold shafts. Operators were friendly and informative, cant tell how they would handle problem issues as I've not had any problems thus far.

Model Reviewed: TaylorMade RAC OS steel shaft irons

I spent a lot of time researching and reading reviews on many different clubs. I finally purchased the TaylorMade RAC OS after testing them. These clubs are worth the investment. I have been striking the ball further and straighter with these irons (my iron play has never been this good in my 5 years playing this game). The irons are also extremely forgiving with mis-hits: you may lose some distance but still hit the ball straight. I have gained at least 10 yards with every club (8 iron - 150 yds). I did notice that there is a bit of a draw on the ball with these irons. Please keep in mind that I am not a scratch golfer and this is probably the reason for the draw. I read that these irons are difficult to "work" the ball (by that I mean draw or fade the ball when you intend to). This is something you will have to test yourself. My only complaint with these clubs are the slick grips. The club has turned in my hands when moisture is a factor (sweaty hands). I do not normally play with a glove and I am hoping this is the fix for my problem. Do yourself a favor and test these at a driving range to see for yourself.

I just had to write in. I used this forum to get feedback on these irons. I just got off the course and shot an 80. I swear to you, I didn't hit one bad iron shot with these. Everyone has said how easy it is to hit these and boy are they right. I have been playing for 25 years and I can honestly say, I have never hit my irons as good as with the Rac OS. I didn't flub one shot. Hit a few thin, and wasn't even punished for it. If it wasn't for 3 putting 5 greens, I could have easily shot a 75. Do yourself a favor, go to Ebay to purchase. Thanks to this forum I got mine for 410.00. I never would have thought to look there.

Well... It's time. I have played my third round with these clubs and I feel like I can write a review now. I have 4 through PW + SW and GW, 1" over, 4 degrees up, Flighted Rifle Shafts at 5.0. I just had my second best all time score at my regular course. SIX PARS AND A BIRDIE! -Not my normal game... maybe it will be now! I've had to get used to new distances: 4-iron now at 190, 8-iron now at 150. That's 10 + yards longer than before. The sweet-spot shots feel incredible and the others are not disasters by any stretch. The lofts are one or two degrees stronger than standard on these clubs. The only way that might be a bother is with the wedges. PW 45, GW 50, SW 55 degrees. My teacher wants me to hit them lower anyway so I'm ok with not hitting them hard. I’ll never blame a bad shot on these clubs, but I will take all the credit for the good ones! I also have the Burner 420 driver. I’m putting 270 yard tee shots into play. Also not my normal game. I think I’ll be rounding out my set with the V Steel 4 and 7 woods when my finances recover from buying these babies! No regrets... these clubs are fantastic. PS Don’t waist your money. Have a detailed professional custom club fitting done. The love-hate relationship with golf is leaning towards the LOVE! That's all I'm saying!

I bought these clubs based on the reviews that I read and they were right. When I first hit these clubs at the driving range I could tell these were the irons that would be going in my bag.I could never hit a 3 iron and carried a 7 wood in its place.I can hit this three iron with confedence. It is hard to work the ball because they like to go straight, but I am not complaining. I did not notice any gain in distance but these clubs are very accurate.Anybody looking for game improvement clubs should give these a try.
