Ping S59
I have played Ping ISI nickels and BeCu irons for a while. I have gotten my index down to 11.6 and felt my game was at a point I could try a more blade like club. I hit Hogan Apex Pro's and FTX. X-16 pros Callaway. Titleists new 704, and MX23 and MP30 from Mizuno. Each has its positives from incredible feel (FTX) to outrageous distance (1.5 clubs: X16) For me and my game it was the s59. It has a hefty, solid feel. It is not forged feel, but quite responsive and very nice. My distance is slightly improved, but I attribute that mostly to the Precept ball I am hitting now (U Tri Spin) The main thing is Ping's shaft, the zz-65. Slightly stiffer than standard, has a higher kickpoint for a more boring trajectory, and Cushin insert to absorb thin hits. These are love-em or hate-em shafts. I happen to love them, and what they do for my game. Extra practice is necessary for the long irons, but I am happy with these, and plan to play under a 10 soon. Get fitted by Ping for best results!! S59 3-9 with Z-Z65 shafts
As a 6'5" golfer, i decided that the most important thing for me when buying a new set of clubs was to be custom fit for clubs. And, when I think of fitting, I think of Ping's color coded system. I demoed after being fit, i demoed the S59s along with the i3+ blade and G2 irons, and picked the s59s hands down over the other two. When i got my clubs, i immediately went and walked 9 holes with them. The proper lie angle, shaft flex and length finally turned my toed hooks into long-distance, penetrating shots with a 3 or 4 yard draw. The clubs look great at address, thin topline and little offset and the sandblasted metal. The long irons were solid and very workable, but I was most impressed with the scoring irons, which with ProV1s or Callaway HX i could truly stop on a dime. I now use a variety of clubs to chip with around the green other than my Accuspin 56* wedge(a great club once i put in dynamic gold wedge flex shafts). The Z-Z65 shafts without the cushin insert really add to the feel i have with these clubs, the cushin really dampens mis-hits and really takes away from the point of having a blade. I never thought a cast-iron blade could have a good amount of feel, or that a blade could be forgiving, but with the S59 Ping really changed my mind! Customer Service Ping is great, very friendly and knowledgeable staff as well as pros who know how to fix clubs Similar Products Used: Hogan Apex Plus, Apex Edge, Titleist 704.cb, 690.cb, DCI 990, Ram FX Stainless, Mizuno MP33, MP30, Ping i3 Blade, i3+ Blade, G2 |

Ping s-59
This is my first set of pings. What I love about buying Pings is I have absolute confidence in the lie angle. Find out what dot you are and you know you have it right. Karsten was a genius. You can't really compare this to a blade iron. You are not going to get the same feel characteristics as a real forged iron, however, you will know the difference between a miss, and a flush shot, but for some reason, if you hit it reasonably well you will lose very little distance as compared to a true blade. The way the irons set up, with a slightly thicker topline then a true blade, gives me the confidence to go after the shot. Although it is not a game improvement club, the small cavity does seem to help out a bit. A great set of irons for a good iron player who is ready for a blade but wants a touch more playability. They are small heads, which gives the better player more confidence to work the ball, but under pressure the other day for the first time out the four iron looked real small. Really a terrific club that bridges the gap between a cavity back and a blade. By the way, the black bar on the back is to help ping with the swing weight. Doesn't offer any playability enhancement whatsoever I asked customer service. My only gripe with Ping is they force you to use their shafts. the stock shafts are very good but I think the SZ-59 is a tad stiff for me. i would only recommend for a low handicapper. That whole theory that a high handicapper should use a players club to learn a correct swing is completely erroneous and bad advice. Hitting good shots is what improves your game, not using a club that you are not ready for. Stick with a game improvement club until your iron play is very solid. Ping S59 3-PW DGS Cushin Stiff Steel Shafts
The best iron PING has made yet in my opinion. I have owned every set they have produced since 1994. Good distance, adequate feel/feedback. This is the closest set to a true blade Ping has made. People kill me, saying this set lacks the feel of a true blade--well, it's not, it's a Ping iron, hello. If buy Ping's for the ability to fit them to your game and hit the ball more straight. Unless you are a low single digit handicap is feel really going to make that much of an impact on your game, because if you can't hit the center of the club 9.5 times out of 10, it is going to feel distorted anyway. Miguel Angel Jimenez has won 3 times on the European Tour with these irons, you won't hear him whining about feel as he's depositing checks. More Europeans play Ping on tour because the royalties are less there, so the Pro's over there play the best equipment, not just who pays the most, makes sense. If you crave feel and response maybe forged irons are a better bet for you (Mizuno,Titleist). If you are single digit or low double digit handicap wanting an iron set to take you lower and you will sacrifice some feel for forgiveness this is your set. Overall, this set is accurate in both direction and distance control. I have noticed they tend to spin much more than previous Ping irons. Rarely do you see a ball suck back with a 4 iron but it has been fairly moist around this part of the midwest recently. Way to go Ping. Great Product. Ping S59 - white dot - ZZ-65 Cushin Steel
Best irons I've ever hit. I've been playing with ISI SS (closest thing Ping had to a blade before the S59's) for the last 4 to 5 years. I've tried several other sets including Wilson Fat shafts, Mizuno Pro II's, & Adams Idea Pros. After a few weeks, I always returned to my ISI's. This time was different! I purchased a 56° M/B wedge and used it a few weeks with my ISI's. I really liked the feel, look, and RESULTS I got with that one club so I started looking for (3-PW) in the S59's and the 52° & 60° M/B wedges. I've had all of the above for just a little over two weeks now and I've posted my 4 lowest 18 rounds this year! (71, 73, 75, 73) I think my 6.3 index is in jeopardy. My long revered ISI's are about to hit EBAY. |

First let me start off by saying that I understand that my 14 HCP does NOT call for me to hit this type of iron, BUT I’ve always liked the look of blades,,,, less off-set and a thin top line........... These may NOT be true blades BUT they are VERY blade like in both of these terms. I’ve read that some folks don’t like the “feedback” they get from these irons on “thin” or “toed” shots BUT isn’t this feedback what you want and expect when using this type of irons? I used these S59’s after taking time to hit only two balls in the yard before going out to play twenty seven holes,,,,, in those twenty seven holes I hit only two thin shots and two toed shots, these did speak to me that I had NOT put a great swing on the ball BUT it wasn’t terrible more like what you’d expect, maybe this was because they came from Ping WRX with Penley Stealth 70 graphite shafts,,, the rest of the days shots with the S59’s were straight or a slight fade. The ball flight has been a problem for some being too low BUT again I didn’t see much of a problem here, don’t get me wrong ,,,, I’m NOT a high ball hitter and indeed these do give me a “slightly” lower ball flight BUT it’s not drastically lower. The ball, even when using 5 and 6 irons checked up as well as anything else that I’ve used even with this “lower ball flight” Customer Service Ping is known for customer service and their fitting program is great from what I’ve read. Sense I got these in a trade I wasn’t fixed by a Ping rep BUT I was fixed on line and these are blue dots just like the Ping web site called for me. great fit,, just be honest with ALL the info the “web fit” asks for and it should turn out ok. Ping and Ping WRX division are great! Great set of irons. Switched from the Cleveland TA1, these Pings are more forgiving and consequently are a little longer. I really like the setup and size of the traditional blade, but was looking for a little more forgiveness. They deliver. Customer Service Excellent. I called about production specs and they answered my questions quickly. Similar Products Used: Cleveland TA1, Mizuno MP-33, Callaway X-14 |

Ping S59 Irons Black dot ZZ-65 cushin steel shafts
These irons are the real deal. Very straight penetrating ball flight. I like the thin top line and overall looks of the club. As with all Pings, these clubs feel very solid. I demoed the 6 iron at my club's driving range and hit it straight shot after shot. Within 3 hours, I bought a used set of these from a Golf Aficionados forum member used for $525 shipped. After 2 weeks with these irons, I can honestly say that I have knocked 2-5 stokes off per round. I didn't need to be fitted as I had already done so 4 years ago on a new set of Ping I3's. A previous poster discussed these clubs as Ping's attempt to garner part of the blade market...I don't think these clubs fit into any category..but they are more blade-like than game improvement. So far, I have great feel and touch with these irons. I am even considering a gap wedge(this coming from a guy who has played Cleveland 588's for years). Even more impressive is the fact that these clubs are somewhat forgiving if you mis-hit it. The long irons have more offset than the shorter irons(progressive). For me, these clubs were much more forgiving than my Cleveland TA-7s. Overall, I think that these sticks are the best set of irons Ping has come out with since the Ping Eye 2's. Well done Ping. Outstanding. Customer Service Haven't need it yet, but from my experience, Pings are pretty indestructable.' Similar Products Used: Ping Eye 2, Ping I3, Maxfli A10, Cleveland TA-7's. |

59's are a great club, irons fitted with DGS400 shafts. these shafts for me are the ticket in these irons. was currently playing Mizuno mix set of MP30 & 37 (good irons) however the 59's are hands down as far as I am concerned. no problem hitting any iron in this set. FEEL is wonderful ball flight is like a frozen rope dead straight, distance is good also. never was much of a ping man. now will never play anything else even got 380 driver and G2 fairway woods. PING has it going on this year for sure... Customer Service n/a Similar Products Used: everything!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
