I put the Ping G2 irons in my bag 3 months ago with great results. My handicap has gone from a 12 to a 10 and I suspect there is more to go. I traded cleveland ta5's primarily to get a fited more upright lie angle (green). The clubs are solid with a much bigger sweet spot. Distance may be slightly longer but the primary benefit is a more solid and consistant ball strike. This club reminds me of the old Ping eye2, but much easier to hit. I tried to HL irons but prefer my rescue clubs for a hybred.

Very light for a slightly bulky head, the shafts are a winner and regular flex should be good for most. These irons will crush all your opponents with ease. Extremely forgiving and when struck well soar a mile high. Ball flight is easily influenced by the wind. They're a little tough coming out of heavy rough and you have to watch out for the clubhead getting caught up in the thick stuff. I can easily shape my shots with these irons, but they're not quite as extreme as past irons. I highly recommend the HL series for at least 4 and 5 irons. They're extremely easy to hit low punch shots with and at the same time can be hit long and land soft on the greens. Overall, I would recommend these irons for 5-20 handicaps or people with solid swings that are having a hard time with their current irons. So sweet!

Well I decided to wait until these irons had about 3 months of rounds on them to give an objective review on them. Well I will say that these may be in my bag for a very long time. I feel like I can just point and shot with them. Most people will notice a loss in distance with these irons because of the more standard lofts on the set i.e. pw is 47.25 degrees compared to most sets with 45-46 degree pitching wedge. I have become considerably more accurate with my iron play. My handicap since putting this set into play has gone from a 10 to a 7 in three months time. I would highly recommend these irons for scratch players or 30 handicaps. I have noticed that i can work the club both ways much more than I could with my old Cavity back game improvement irons. So if u are looking for accuracy and forgiving irons I would suggest you go demo these baby's

Before buying these irons, I decided to read a few reviews. One quoted the G2 irons as being 'magic wands'. this review could not be any closer to the truth. Amazing. I really can't believe the difference these irons have made to my game.

First off, people that write negative reviews on these irons are obviously disgruntled golfers or they have a personal vendetta against ping because these things are the best. I might believe them it if they were tour players, or something close to, but not an average golfer. Come on, quit kidding yourself, you can't hit a consistent fade or draw. Second of all, I doubt that they play at a difficult enough course to where hitting those types of shots is a must. So, what I'm trying to get at is that if you enjoy hitting consistently good, straight, penetrating iron shots, than buy these irons. Trust me, you won't regret it! But, make sure you get fitted (very important).

Customer Service

I don't know......never had to use them. But, I'm sure that it is good because I've read numerous things about the satisfaction with them company, in general. Plus, you can register your ping equipment.

Recently decided to put the G2s down and go back to my old Cleveland TA7s. I realized that I had lost yardage and the offset was driving me nuts. The G2s are too forgiving and don't provide enough feedback for the more skilled player.

Model Reviewed: PING G2 irons

I never thought I would find a set of irons that I enjoyed as much as my Toski Catalysts. Three seasons ago, I bought a set of Mizuno Comp EZ irons and ultimately had to sell them on eBay. I couldn't hit them at all. Finally, I decided to try the PING G2 irons. After 12 rounds of golf with my new PINGs, I am pleased to report that these are by far the most forgiving irons I have ever hit! The transition time into these new clubs was minimal. I have consistently scored in the mid to low 80s since I started using the new irons. I love the way these irons land the ball softly on the green. I went with the regular steel shafts (blue dot). I found that the lite steel shafts did not weigh anymore than my old graphites! These irons feel very solid. Even mis-hits seem to travel far and straight. It took several custom fittings before I settled on the blue dot (1 degree upright). After visiting several shops, I was told that my fit was black dot (regular) to maroon dot (5 degree upright) and everything inbetween. The problem is that I would lay the clubhead on the mat and then swing according to the lie angle of the club. So, every club they handed me fit me just right. It is important to work with a knowledgeable club fitting professional that can help one work through some of the complexities of achieving a great fit. I went with the high loft option for the three and four irons. The high loft was not necessary for my five iron as I find it relatively easy to hit. The irons are somewhat expensive (I paid $649 at Golf Galaxy), but they have been worth every penny so far!

After 5 years of learning golf I decided to buy a new set of irons upgrading from my Top Flight Tour irons to the Ping G2 series. I visited my local retailer and hit the PW, 7 and 3 irons. Immediately I noticed the difference. I took them to the range the next day and everything came off the clubface straigh as an arrow. These are the most forgiving clubs I have ever hit. I recommend the Stiff Flex even if your swing is borderline regular/stiff. The grips are also nice. Overall I'm still learning to use them but I've instantly regained where I left off from last year (Maine Golfer). Shot a 41 on the back 9 at the local course having only used these irons 5 times.

ATTN: Hi-Mid Handicapers... Get these if you can! I decided to go with the G2s after I read the reviews here, and the profesional reviews in the mags. I got them used on ebay for $550. I have the 3HL, 4HL, 5HL, 6-PW set in blue dot/white grip. All I can say is wow! I just came in from my first round with them, and I am happy to report they are worth their weight in gold! (I also got to do two DR sessions with them.) Before these, I was playing Cobras and the main difference is the generous forgiving nature of these irons. If you are a mid-handicapper looking to lower your score, these could be the tools you use for success in my opinion. Most of the shots I missed were thin, but the G2s still allowed me to advance the ball and keep me in the hole. Very, very forgiving compared with my old clubs. I just had a great time with them. As for the "unworkable" tendency I have read about there are two comments. One, as a mid-handicapper I'll sacrifice workability for consistancy any round. And two, I was actually able to shape the shots I needed to. A slight hook or draw to avoid a tree, nothing spectacular, but still with my limited expertise, I was able to "work" the ball just enough. In conclusion, I just can not tell you how happy I am with the G2s and the round I just experience. I am looking forward to playing them for many years to come. Good luck, and FORE!

Model Reviewed: Ping G2 irons, MB wedges

Had Titleist 962s but gradually replaced low trajectory 3 to 6 irons with fairway woods. 7 iron went 140 - 145. Read a lot about G2s and bought a used set on EBAY, (including MB model SW and LW) for $575. NEVER bought without demo'ing before, but almost all reviews were glowing. Set was stiff steel with cushin inserts (I played regular steel) but I couldn't lose at that price. These clubs made an incredible difference for me and impressed everyone who's tried them. MB lob wedge 58* makes more sense than old TM 60* lob & a lot easier to hit down on the ball. (75 yds vs 45 yds) Ditto MB 54* SW except not good in hard sand - probably too much bounce. (100 yds vs 75-80 yds) G2 irons are like cheating. Stiff shafts don't feel stiffer to me than my old regular steel shafts, and the cushin inserts (a $5/club option) take out all the harshness making every shot feel flush. I'd rather get feedback from watching the ball flight than feeling my left arm vibrate like a tuning fork, but almost all the shots are the same: high with a slight draw. Trajectory is high, distance significantly longer - 10 to 20 yds/club. Maybe half the increased length comes from stronger lofts (G2 9 iron 42* vs 46* on old irons) but trajectory and technology double that gain. 7 wood (170 yds) now in the basement - I'll use a G2 6 iron instead! And the compliments - I rarely got compliments on mid iron or long iron shots - now I hear them constantly. G2s even elevate minimal greenside chips - no more clubhead manipulation necessary. Ever see those triangle headed 'chippers' for people who absolutely cannot chip? G2s automatically produce a similar shot - a slight initial elevation, then land and run. Aside from the MB SW not suitable for hard sand, the bigger offset on the G2s took about 5 rounds to get used to - I had to swing a lot easier to avoid hooking the ball. These clubs will move me from low 80s to high 70s. In short - these clubs make a real difference and MUST be considered when demo'ing game improvement irons like RACs & Callaways, which I haven't hit and probably never will. PS value rating below reflects my personal values: pay almost anything for a truly better game. If you have more common sense than I do, wait for the next model to come out and then buy THIS model because the next few models will only tweak the quantum leap in technology that this model offers.
