Ping Eye 2 Irons

Ping Eye 2 Irons

DESCRIPTION

Wildly Popular since their mid 80's inception, the Ping Eye2 Irons are the original, and still one of the best cast, perimeter weighted cavity back irons on the market.

Initial results have been great. Shafts are ZZ Lites. I may reshaft based on some previous reviews. However, the ZZ lites seem ok but I'm still getting use to the clubs. One thing is what few rounds I've played with them I've hit more greens than ever before. Approach shots are easier with these clubs. I would be interested to here from Eye 2 owners who have reshafted. What shaft did you choose and why? What shaft did you remove and why? I plan on staying with the Eye 2's for quite awhile. Really, first impression is that these are a great set of irons that make the game more fun.

There is no doubt about it, these are among the most forgiving (especially for slicers) clubs you will ever hit. But you do pay a price for all that forgiveness. The clubs have almost no feel to them at all -- its like hitting the ball with a 2X4. If you are having trouble with a hook, the Eye2's with all their offset will make it totally unplayable. The wide soles and low center of gravity make it easy to 'chunk' shots, especially with short irons and wedges. I recently switched to a set of Snake Eyes MC-01 blades and can't believe the amount of feel and feedback I get from them. Yeah, if I leave the clubface open at impact I go right of right. Every once in a while I'll skull one too, but man when you put a decent swing on the ball, there is
no comparing what it feels like.

I'll admit, as far as 'game improvement' irons go, you can't beat the Eye2's. I just find I enjoy the game more (and shooting the same scores) with the Snake Eyes MC-01's.

Very forgiving irons, shots still go straight even I miss so badly. However, feedback from impact is kind of muted. Distance wise, I don't think they will decrease your yardage but their heads do feel kind of heavy when I'm making my swing.

Great wedge! Bought this really cheap and works very well. Though it has too much bounce to be the shortest wedge in your bag. An eye2 SW(&W) and a trusty rusty LW goes very well.

Simply awesome. I started using them in 8th grade, and 6 years later, i haven't changed. I've tried many different models of irons(cobra, callaway, titleist, etc.)...nothing compares.

Great clubs if you have the correct shaft. Hit the ball too high with the ZZ lite shafts. Installed true temper dyanamic gold S300 shafts at 1/2 overlength and this brought the ball flight down as well as changed the swingweight from C7 to D2 range. Recommend getting fitted for the correct lie. Makes a big difference.

Great clubs. Once you play them you realize why they have been around for so long. Perfectly weighted clubs. Would buy them again in a second.

The Ping I3 is the best all around club I have ever played. You can work the ball, and yet they are very forgiving. I do not know why anyone would be afraid to hit these irons. They are not like the true blades I have tried to hit. These blades may be fine if your a low handicapper but if your mid or above stay away from the other blades, but be sure to try the I3 blades. Aim at the flag and let it rip. Forget about those slices to the right. These clubs help get the draw to your irons. I have always struggled some with the long irons, but I found these much easier to get hit. I commend Ping again for a great club.. The best since the Eye 2's which is nearly as good. Be sure to get fitted by Ping or a Pro, and enjoy.

None..thank goodness...Superior quality when built..should not need much service, but if so Ping is the best.

These irons are very forgiving and yet not oversized like many models are today. I love the soft feel of the irons with the small head that is very consistant also they told me it puts a little extra spin but I did not think that it they would spin so much. It truly amazes me that ping doesn't stick with a winning ticket
