Ping Eye 2 Irons

Wildly Popular since their mid 80's inception, the Ping Eye2 Irons are the original, and still one of the best cast, perimeter weighted cavity back irons on the market.

I took up golf later in life and thought that more expensive, "fashionable" clubs would improve my game; what a mistake. My first clubs were Taylor's (not for beginners in my opinion)in both steel and graphite shafts. I traded these for a set of Ping Eye 2's with zz-lite shafts. The Pings hit really great but played havoc with my arms and elbows. Gave this set to my son and bought what I thought would be the ultimate irons, Titleist 981's with graphite shafts. Wrong! I struggled with the 981's for over a year trying to make them work. Finally, I came to my senses and ordered a set of Ping Eye 2+'s with JZ stiff shafts. The difference was like night and day! Only with these clubs have I been able to hit the long irons for distance.
Listen, save your money; buy a set of Ping Eye 2's, Eye 2+'s, or I-3's. Ping has their act together; all the rest is "hype" and advertising to get into your wallet. Pretty clubs do not a better golfer make. I'll say again like many others, "newer is not always better".

I have been playing with these for about a year. I changed the shafts to the new True Temper Tri-Gold. Awesome golf shaft! I recommend these shafts if you want to re-shaft your irons. When I bought these, I was a 17 handicap. One year later, I'm a 6 handicap. I don't attribute all my improvement to the clubs alone, but they did play a major role. You can work the ball well with these. It's a little easier for me to work a draw than a fade with them. The distance is similar to other clubs I've had in the past. The short irons may be a little longer. A solid performer that several touring pro's still use. You can't go wrong with these even 11 years later. A shaft upgrade doesn't hurt these either.

I am a believer now too. I bought a set of BeCu Eye2s after reading these reviews. I have shaved 10 strokes off my scores since using the Pings this season. I noticed these irons hit farther than my old set and yet get more height too. I am impressed with the ability of the clubs to park the ball on the green because of the backspin imparted to the ball. My golfing buddies have definitely noticed the difference.... is it the clubs? I enjoy the consistency that I get with this set (even the long irons) and recommend that others might benefit too..

A wonderful set of clubs providing accuracy, feel and distance. Though 'outdated', I'm impressed.

I purchased these used about 5 years and I'll never change to anything else. These clubs are great for the average golfer that wants to move up to the next lever. One of the best things about these clubs is that they'll never be worth less than you pay for them. It's amazing how well they hit when you hit the "spot". It's effortless.
Pick up a set at your nearest Play it again Sports or buy a set online. You've got nothing to lose except strokes.

the best period,,,i am down to playing once every 6 weeks or so and these club allow me to have a good time and still shoot a somewhat respectable score. they may not have the feel of a forged iron but for a cast they give a nice amount of feedback. i can certainly tell when i have hit a quality shot. distance is enough for me,,,though i haven't hit a newer model club,,,,all in all a great club and a first class company.

These irons are extremely forgiving, but have no feel at all. I am not able to feel the club during the swing or at impact.

I am a middle aged golfer who has been playing the game for less than 6 months. I had read about the classic nature of the Ping Eye 2's construction and recently decided to get a used set. I also had them reshafted and fitted. I invested the balance of what I would have paid for a good set of new clubs into golf lessons. This has turned out to be a good strategy. These clubs are great! The clubs may not be "pretty", but they get the balls up easily and are fairly forgiving. They have made a major difference in my game since I started using them two months ago. My distances have increased over ten yards with each club and the shot trajectory is vastly improved. Everyone who has seen me play with these clubs has said the same thing....."Don't ever get rid of them."
I may not be a flexible as the twenty year olds with the expensive clubs, but I believe I may be wiser than a lot of them. My scores are improving dramatically.
Now, if I only had a short game....

I have a set of BeCu Ping Eye 2 and they are some of the best feeling irons I have ever hit. These irons are very accurate and the square grooves do but more spin on the ball. The long irons are not as forgiving as some of the newer irons though.
