Eye 2 BeCu
I think these Ping beryllium copper irons are the best irons ever made! I got this set including the sand and lob wedges for 300 dollars about 15 years ago. I have tried so many other clubs for whatever reasons but always come back to the best. I am back to the Eye 2 BeCu for good now! Maybe it is the shaft (Ping microtaper) or just the way the dark colored head frames the ball at address. I just flat out score better with these clubs. These irons are for golfers of every level. They are easy to hit and VERY forgiving. Also, I think you can shape shots better with these irons than other brands. The lofts are weaker and as a result you will find you need to use more club than the newer irons. Now, the best part.... the BeCu square grooves model Pings are number one when it comes to spinning the ball. The ball even stops nicely out of the rough and around the greens the wedges are beautiful!! Nothing is better than a nice old set of copper Ping irons that are a dark chocolate color with some polishing of the metal on the sole and in the sweet spot!! Believe me, I have tried Zings, i3, ISI, Callaway, Taylor Made and they all are nice and high quality but just can not compare to the original Eye 2's. Also, keep in mind, if you get a set of Eye 2 BeCu Pings, you will be getting a set of clubs that will only increase in value (due to the collectability of Ping copper clubs). Look what Callaway has to do to drum up sales- reintroduce the Big Bertha irons. Just go on eBAY and look at the prices for used Ping Eye 2 irons and you will see how these clubs stand the test of time. Customer Service The BEST! I set the set back to have shaftbands put back on.... I got them back in one week and replaced the bands and even repainted the numbers and "eye dots" all gratis!!! They looked so nice I alm Similar Products Used: Ping i3 o-size, ISI, Zing |

Well what can i say about these clubs other than they are just plain great. People bash them and say they have no play and feel and I find that to be far from true. Ican play the fade or hit a draw with them! Maybe it's your swing. Anyways, I bought a set of eye 2 square grooves and all, 1-sw, 12 irons for $300 on ebay. They were in wonderful shape as agreed the ping rep at the PING demo day where I took them to get fitted.I sent them back to Ping and had them bent 2 degrees up and added a 1" extension, thus making them a silver dot. Ping also regripped them, cleaned and reface the heads as well as painted all the #'s for roughly a mere $12. a club. All in all, I had them back in 12 days and the worst thing was that I had to part with them for so long. I'm still working on the distance, but I'm hitting them straight as can be. I even ripped the butter knife ( 1 iron ) about 300 yds the first time I ever hit it. I absolutely love these clubs and don't ever see myself getting rid of them. I've hit a lot of irons before, and for me, these are the gravy!!! If you buy the eye 2's pre 1990, you can only have them bent 2 degrees, so get fitted and get yourself a set and start playing better golf and enjoying it!! Thanks Ping Customer Service Fast, friendly and on the ball. The best service you can get. Call them and see. Similar Products Used: Taylor Made, Titleist, Callaway and Pro Select |

After using these clubs for ten years, I began to notice a lack in performance; less distance and accuracy. I sent them back to Ping and got some new Cushin shafts on them as well as new grips. They were also re-bent. However, I still felt that these clubs were lacking in quality. Playing with a friend, I borrowed one of his crappy old 855's and it seemed like i was hitting a bran new club compared to the pings. Perhaps these clubs have an appeal to those who look for forgiveness when buying a club. However, as someone who is entering a higher level of play, i feel that these clubs absolutely suck and that all Ping representatives and employees should be beaten and shot. Took a couple weeks to get used to them. They feel heavier than the ISI's they "replaced". They don't feel as good as the ISI's either. Maybe the difference in feedback is due to the DGX shafts over the JZ-S. But the Eye2's have a more consistent shot shape and seem to be more accurate. I like'm a lot. They look good and instill confidence. Customer Service Club Finders replaced a grip I didn't like on the SW with a different one for free. That was pretty nice. Had this set 12 years, but always on the look out for something better- especially with all the new technology available. I still have them, so what more can I say. I would agree with those that say that they are not for everybody, but if you can get on with them your scores will improve because they are very forgiving. Scoring clubs rather than feel clubs. I played Ping Zing''s for about 7 years .I loved them, but thought a couple of years ago to try something new.I bought 3 sets of irons in the last 2 years.Nothing was close.I was going to buy Zing''s again when I found the Eye 2''s.These irons are fantastic.Whatever some people say about irons are absolutely false.I still know about 6 people that still use Eye 2''s.Pros still use them.Show me a Callaway iron that has lasted over a decade. As a beginer ten yrs ago I eagerly bought a set of eye2...and in the confusing learning process that followed, blamed them instead of my technique. And so my ten year journey began: yamaha, spalding, wilson, isi-k, cleveland, wilson and now finally an 8 hcap, back home with eye2 coppers. Why did I ever stray? Mine are Rifle 6.5 shafted honeys. Pretty straight, able to create shots, nimble on side hill lies, terrific around the greens and OK distance (I have orignal lofted clubs - something to consider when buying used- lofts are two degrees or so than modern clubs). Beginers, go buy a used set, owners, don''t let go of them. It''s a great working man''s club that has appeal for every level of golfer. The copper heads are soft and make a different clunk noise. They age beautifully. Best irons ever made. Customer Service ping rules. Similar Products Used: eye2 steel, wilson fatshafts, cleveland blades, isi-k. |

These clubs are ideal for me. Easy to swing, offset, and they go straight. Not the best feel, but just enough for me. The lofts are different because they were made in the 1980''s, so one might be a 1/2 club short or so. Customer Service The best. I had bought them 1 degree upright(Blue Dot), so I sent them to Ping along with $18 and they adjusted the lie to 1 degree flat (Red Dot). I had them back in less than 2 weeks. I purchased some ping eye 2''s after reading all of these great reviews. I was terribly dissapointed, they felt like hockey sticks. There was no feeling, I could never tell wether my swing was on plane or wether it was just the size and offset of the club working. Due to the size of the club the ball could not be worked as easy. I moved on and bought some 962b''s which are awesome. These clubs are great if you are looking for forgiveness. Customer Service N/A Similar Products Used: all of them |

Strength:
None I bought these clubs from a friend 16 years ago and I have not changed since. The playability of the clubs is great. The only drawback is the hardness over forged clubs, but I''m happy with them. The wider flange is good for my tendency to hit descending blows. I used to play Palmer Standards (forged) and the thinner flange dug into the turf. What else can I say? Ping Eye 2 is a classic. I''ve saved a bunch of money by swinging the same sticks for 16 yrs!!!
