I`ve been playing golf for about 20 years now, and all these years I never put much stock into the equiptment I used. So I would play with cheepo DUNLOP and WILSON clubs from walmart. I always thought that if you had a good enough swing it really did`nt matter what club you used. BOY WAS I WRONG. I decided last season to splurge on a decent iorn set (not over 400.00) So after checking the reviews on this site, and talking to people (in the know) I went on ebay and found a nice set of PING EYE2+ clubs. HOLY CRAP what a difference in my game CONFIDENCE,CONFIDENE,CONFIDENCE. These things are soooo forgiving its almost like cheating out there.Loft and feel are amazing. My god, I can even hit my #3 iorn now. PING costomuer service is the BEST too, they told me what year my clubs were made and offer new grips for very cheap. Thank you Karsten.. THANK YOU...

I have played golf for 25 years and in that time have tested and played with many different irons. With out a doubt the best clubs ever made are ping eye2's. Very forgiving, with a great feel for cast clubs, which you can still work the ball.

After 15 years with the same set I purchased a set of eye 3's. Big mistake, the weighting is different as is the feel.

I recently purchased a nice set of eye 2's to replace my old set and am happy again.

I have been playing for a few years now with a set of $100 irons from Academy that was given to me by a friend. I have never been able to adapt an appropriate swing given that all the clubs are weighted differently. I have been shopping the market and just hate the price of a nice new set of clubs, so I moved to used and found I still don't like the price. My boss offered me his old set of Ping Eye 2's for $40, and I am absolutely amazed with these clubs. I have swung and demoed numerous Callaway, Taylor Made, Ping's and so on, and not liked them as much as these. Great weight distribution, forgiveness, and feel. I would highly recommend a used set to anyone, especially if you can get a steal like I did.

For their age there is just nothing better!

I can't think of one model of iron that was introduced over 20 years ago and is still being used today by so many. That includes the novice to the scratch golfer. I am fortunate to own the 35th set of Ping Eye2 irons ever produced (BeCu Copper 2 to LW). I also have had the opportunity to test or own nearly 20 other sets of irons and the Ping Eye2 with the original non-conforming square grooves are by far the most consistent CAVITY back irons I have ever played!

Note: I have made some changes to the set that you might want to consider as well. I went with Rifle shafts in place of my ZZ-Lites. What a great addition to feel. I also had all my lofts adjusted slightly to conform with todays Ping models. One reason some say they don't carry as well is because they are not educated to the Eye2 loft sequence. Go to Ping.com under irons and then check out the classic lists. Compare the specs on the original Eye2 (1983 to 1989) and compare it to any other manufacturers specs or Pings specs for their newer irons. You will note that the Eye2 models consistently have a higher loft on nearly every iron. When your buddy pulls out his 8 iron and you are pulling out your 7 iron you are both actually hitting the same lofted club. Another example is the original Eye2 SW was at 58 degrees. In many sets today that's the LW.

If you have not tried these I encourage you to spend the $200 bucks on Ebay. Compared to a new set at $800 to $1000 it's a great bargain. One other note; Buy a matched set and get the serial number from the seller. You can contact Ping at 800 474-6434 with the serial number and they can validate all the information for you on every iron set ever produced.

These are worth every dime! I have tried to find a better set and I just can't get rid of mine! You will see below the irons I have tried to date. My next stop will be a set of Mizunos but I have a feeling in another 20 years I will still have my Eye2 irons.

I love my PING G2 irons, but bought these as a backup set for a mere $150.00. Now I'm afraid that I'll be leaving the G2's at home a lot. These clubs may be old, but when comparing them to the G2's I'm not seeing much of am difference. The forgiveness is astounding. The overall feel is just as good if not better than the G2's! If you're thinking of buying some PING clubs, see if you can get some used EYE2 clubs first. Seriously, they are awesome. Newer isn't always better, just different. In this case, they just look a bit different.

I have owned Ping Eye 2 (zz lite 1984) irons for over 20 years now. I have not found a better iron to date. I have access to all brands of clubs and try them out often. I always put the Pings back in the bag. Over the years I have learned to control these irons, I can make them land soft when needed, spin the ball hard, spin the ball soft. These irons really feel great when hit also. I purchased a second set of Ping Eye 2's for some reason, I guess knowing I have a second set puts me at ease should something happen to my original set. Really these irons look great and play even better.

WOW. Got these irons 2 days ago, just shot the best round of my life. Previous clubs were Titleist 981's - the Pings are much more forgiving and go just as long. Never hit so many straight shots in my life! Who cares if the Eye 2's are old school, this is a game improvement club. Immediate improvement in my long iron game too.

I'm fifteen years old. I bought these clubs on Sunday. I had recently been playing with old Northwesterns. I bought them used but in perfect condition and I got them for a steal at $149.99 (with rifle shafts) at golf galaxy. after that I went to mud run golfcourse and did nine holes I lowered my score by 7 strokes instantly. The thing that I most liked was the way the ball lifted and was more controlled in the air and how once it came down it spun very little and then stopped. It set me up in perfect condition for my put. I would reccomend these clubs to anyone who is wanting to lower their scores by a few strokes.
