The Nike Slingshot Irons are the best i have ever hit. They are very forgiving yet have good workability. I also love how long the irons hit. The form fitting grip is also very nice. |

Just a follow up to my previous initial impression. After several driving range trips and approximately 5 rounds with these irons, I am really starting to appreciate them more and more. -Extremely forgiving. I have left ball marks way out near the toe, and the penalty was minor. -Easy to get the ball up. Almost too easy. 7i - AW could be lowered a little bit. -Distance is about 1/2-1 club less than my Macg565 with rifled 5.5 shafts. The tradeoff in playable shots is more than worth it. I don't know if the minor distance difference is because of the added height on most shots, but I have learned not to care what club I hit in comparison to my buddies. -Feel/Playability: I have messed around a bit and attempted to hit some draws on the range, and I don't know how easy it is with 'player's irons', but it's entirely possible with these as well. There is definitely a notable 'click', and almost feather light pop on the face on well struck shots. Slightly off center hits feel different, but still manage to be within an acceptable distance/alignment. That's the beauty of these clubs. I suppose my only gripe is the high flight on the short irons. Maybe when my game progresses, and I become more consistant, I will reshaft them with some Rifle Flighted irons in a 4.5 or 5.0. The flighted shafts vary the kickpoints progressively to lower the short iron trajectory. I have seen the light of playing with regular flex shafts, and ignoring bad advice. I have considered even trying the OSS SW as the AW (gap wedge) is so easy to play. I'm just not sure if the oversized 'dual glide' sole will make it tough to hit shots in deep sand. I can't stress enough how much I am enjoying playing since switching to these clubs. $599 @ most of the big name golf shops. IMHO, getting the 5-AW, or SW and using a hybrid or 2 is an even better idea. I have the utmost confidence that I will be shotting in the 90's by summer if my Tee shots stay under control, and I keep up with the flat stick. These irons are forgiving and seem to have at little more pop than my first set of Ping ISIKs which we're good too. This is my 3rd year of playing regularly so I'm hoping to finally break 100 with them this spring. I got a good deal on these and would recomend them to anyone who shoots 100-110 and hoping to get into the 90s. Similar Products Used: Ping ISIK |

Slingshot OSS 4-AW
Well, I decided to swallow my pride and put my ego in the bag and check out irons designed for serious game improvement. I put away my MacG m565's with rifle flighted lite 5.5 shafts. Great clubs, but they require more consistancy in terms of mechanics and speed. I am 32, 6' tall, 230 lbs My iron swing speed is most productive and comfortable at the 75-85 mph level, and that coincides with a regular flex shaft, despite what some have told me. The Slingshot OSS irons impressed me tremendously so far, as the offset helps me square up the club, the hot face gives me the distance I am used to, and the overall design of the slingback is everything Nike says it is. I am not one of those who is turned off by the size of the club head at all. If anything it is comforting. Ball flight is definitely high, but the trajectory does not seem to be costing me distance, so I don't have a problem with it. The lack of 3 iron and inclusion of an AW (gap wedge) is a great decision. I had originally chose more player oriented clubs with stiffer shafts with the intention of developing into them. After much inconsistancy, I realized that I need to start with something that fits my level of play, and develop my mechanics, and play within myself. I did not have the consistancy to swing @ 85-90+ mph throughout 18 holes to tap into the rifled stiff shafts. My first time at the driving range and a 9 hole par 3 course with the Slingshots totally reinforced my decision for me. They did not work miracles, but the whole day felt so much easier for me, and I had a lot less awful shots and blow ups than ever. High and straight is the order of the day for these irons. I demo'd the reg & stiff OSS irons side by side. (the staff member taped over the shaft flex label though) I totally noticed the difference, and it became clear as to why I was struggling with my previous irons. In addition to club head design. The stiff shafts required my swing to be faster, or else it felt harsh. The regular flex felt much more comfortable with my high 70 mph, smooth iron swing, and the results backed that up. The looks may not be for everyone, but I value the results more than the aesthetics. Besides, they're a nice change from the standard cavity backs. I really think Nike is moving up quickly in terms of technology and quality in their golf equipment. The rating system really needs to be based out of 10. These clubs are not perfect, which is a '5', but they are far better than 80%, which is a '4'. I'd say a 9.0 on a scale of 1-10. Customer Service Very helpful on the handful of phone calls I made to discuss their shafts. What can i say about these irons. I have played for about a year, and have hit alot of irons, and i can say these were the best. Not only does it get the ball up faster, but i was able to add 10 yards to my shot. Some people have said other wise, but trust me, When you dial in your swing with these, you can get it out there. |

Nike Slingshot Irons
So having finally started to take golf seriously, I decided it was time for me to go and get myself some decent clubs. I had heard so much about the Nike Slingshots and was very set on them when I walked into the store. I had heard that they were the most forgiving club out there and offer immediate improvement in your game. Having walked in, the salesman agreed the Slingshots were good game improvement clubs but also recommended the Wilson Di5 irons as good clubs. I hopped into the simulator with both. I have to say the Slingshots disappointed me. They are so built to eliminate a slice that if you naturally hit a bit of a hook, the shot almost does a freaking u-turn. Also, there was no feel to hitting the ball. I hit probably 40 balls with it and a nice hit felt the same as a missed one. The good points, it does get the ball ups very well. The loft on the nike shots was on average 3 to 4 degrees higher than the Wilsons. However, this did seem to cost me a bit of distance. If you have a nasty slice and have problems getting it up, these might work for you but I wasn't overly impressed. Similar Products Used: Wilson Di5 |

Nike NDS
I had been looking for a new set of clubs for a few months and heard good things about the NDS. I took a demo at a local golf shop and liked the feel of the club. I tried the Slingshot as well but did not like the fact that the feel was not there as much. The clubs are relatively easy to hit and even mis-hits go straight. My distance was initially 5-10 yards shorter but now that I have played a few rounds with them I can hit the ball 5-10 yards longer than with my previous irons. I do agree that the clubs are more mid-to hi-handicappers, but with that said it is easy to draw or hook as you need to. Nike Slingshot Irons
I just got these irons a few days ago and have only hit them on the driving range. It's almost ridiculous how easy these irons are to hit, even the 3 and 4 irons. Getting the ball up in the air is effortless and they seem to want to go straight regardless of how you hit them. I am able to hit a slight draw and fade but not nearly as much as with my previous set. I mainly got these because my Taylor Made 320's have a draw bias and given that I fight a hook sometimes, it was a constant battle to not hook the ball. The Slingshots just feel so solid when you hit the ball square that there's almost no feeling of the ball at all, which could be a negative for better golfers who like feedback from their clubs. If I have any knock on these clubs it's that they launch the ball so high that hitting a knockdown with these is like a normal shot with other clubs. If you play someplace that's constantly windy you may want to consider different clubs. These clubs aren't perfect, but considering the condition my games in right now, they're a good fit for me. I played another round today just to make sure yesterdays wasn't a fluke. It wasn't. I love these irons more and more each time I hit them. I think I hit every green today with these irons which would be a first for me. I was totally peppering the pin. Most of my approaches landed inside 15 feet. These irons are so accurate I cannot put it into words how it feels to play with these clubs. It feels like I'm cheating. In the howling winds, I birdied 3 of the final 4 holes today, sticking all of my iron shots right next to the flag to shoot an overall 1 under 71. I would have broken the course record if I had had a good putting day today. I bogeyed 2 holes because of errant tee shots and only made 3(all birdies) of my putts that landed inside the 2-15 foot range, missing the other 15 putts for 2 putt pars mostly. If it doesn't rain, I'll be back out there tomorrow to try and do some more damage. |

My play is inconsistant so take this review as you will. As with many clubs, it took me a few rounds to get used to the slingshots. But once I did they were incredible. I was dropping my 6-iron at about 200 yards every time. The 5 and 6 really became my go to clubs. Long and accurate. I picked up the sandwedge instead of the 3 when I bought the set. But I have had so much success with the 4-iron that I am headed in soon to buy the 3. I would definitely reccomend this set to people that hit 88+, I can't speak for the better golfers...yet. Customer Service Great! |
