2005 Nike Pro Combo OS Forged
Had my 37th B-Day last February and was due for some new irons. I first saw the 2005 Nike Pro Combo OS's at Don Sherwoods the 1st week in February and immediately new they were going to be my next set. Just the feel in my hands and the view at address had me sold. DS only had one set in a regular flex but they said they were expecting a shipment in soon and can take my order. I felt it was an unhonest statement because I new they werent available till mid March so I had a local pro shop (who undercut DS by 15%) fit me for a set and place the order. Well it was over 1 month past my Bday but I finally got my present and they were well worth the wait. The past 5 years I've been playing with a set of Callaway X-14s, well not the whole set because I couldnt hit the 3iron and the 4iron rarely came out of the bag (relied mostly on a TM 7wood for 180-210 yardages). Well I've played 2 full rounds with the new Nikes and my scores have gone down when I was expecting them to go up. Im having more birdie and par putts since I've switched and I've even brought both 3&4 irons into play with very good results. It must be true about one key point, that is to be comfortable at address because these irons look great. Also, switching from cast to forged was a nice change. Been playing about 10 years now so I havent had any problem hitting the sweet spot on these clubs, I honestly believe these have a larger sweet spot than the Callaways. Flys off the club heads with a buttery feel (and about 6-8yds longer). Couldnt be more happier with my club selection. |

After learning golf in the past three years with an e-bay baught set of Bridestone Irons (3-9), I made my EGA HCP of 36 last year. This year I baught the NIKE Pro Combo for 550€ for 3-9,PW,SW and are more then impressed. Suddenly Iron 3 shots go an extra 20 meters and are straight! No Banana to the right. The Grips are very good and prevent any truning even with a loose grip. Also the behaviour with the midsize Iron 8 is very nice, as the specially formed Blade now allows me to place my shots much mire controlled then before. The Bridgestone already was a good experience, but this set is like a wonder weapon. In other reviews it is recommended for better golfers, but I would reccomend it to anybody not yet using and Woods, as the Iron 3 shots (straight) with this set brings you as far as others... Nike Pro Combo Forged Irons
These are the best irons I have ever hit. They are much much longer than any irons I have ever hit. They are strait too. I purchased the 3, 5 and 7 irons from a shop for 20 bucks because they were demos. My good the sweet spot is large!! It is nice and soft anywhere you hit it on the clubhead. Nike has really made some works of art with there irons, and this one is no exeption. The butt of the grip has a nice metal emblem and the rest of the grip is the nike logo with lines. The ones I purchased had an extemely fat shaft which started that fat at the grip and then suddely thinned as you look down the shaft to the clubhead. The morph from tin cavity to muscle back to blades are awsome, they really are a "pro combo" of clubs. I just don't understand how the OS model is a combo. Anyways these irons are long and worth any price wheather it's 20 bucks a club or 600 for a set. If you like forged irons, buy these! Customer Service They explained to me why they were so cheap, so very good costomer service from nike. Similar Products Used: dont get me started |

05 Nike Pro Combo Forged OS
First off they look great, in general and on set-up .They feel awesome ,forged feels so good its the way to go, I was hitting the ball so clean with these clubs and they felt so smooth. I didn't have a 3 or 4iron with the CPR's but I didn't really have a problem hitting the 3i and 4i they are cavity back style with this set and I was actually hitting the 3i about 190yd and straight.. When you hit the ball clean and good you know it I mean good hits have really rewarding results . The mix of Cavity Back in the long irons, muscle backs in the mids, and blade style in the short irons 8-pw really helps you out. I would say these club are very forgiving the extra offset definitely helps, and the longer irons are very forgiving thanks to the design. If you hit it off-centre you really feel it in your hands! Ball flight is very stable and the balls seems to drop dead on landing. I got the reg flex shafts which are pretty light. I could never really get ball spin but with these I got ball spin on very well hit shots . Your swing has to be consistent and reliable for the best results I felt. The clubs are a little top-heavy, which I like because it promotes a fluid and non-forced swing. I have been to the range every day since I got these, I am still getting used to them since they are a bit different from the CPR's but I am so happy I went with these.. I feel I can definitely grow into these and they will be really rewarding. All I can say if you are looking for a new set and wanted to go forged give these irons a look you wont be disappointed.. I tried a few different sets before I got these and to me the Pro Combo's OS just looked the best and felt the best Customer Service Havent tried it Similar Products Used: Cleveland CG2 |

Great Irons. Had them for about a week, haven't made it out to play yet but I have hit several buckets at the range. Much better feel and feedback than my old clubs. Definetly a great upgrade form my X-14's. Got them for around 300 dollars brand new on ebay. Worth every penny, will be in the bag for a long time Customer Service N/A Similar Products Used: Demoed the Ping G2's and the new Hogan blades. Both are fine clubs, the Nike's are just better at address and feel more natural. |

Got a good deal on the irons, so i bought them..i was nervous at first because i read they are not forgiving..But my worries were not needed...the short irons 8-pw are fantastic you really have a great feel and can work the ball nicely...the rest of the set works well u wont be rewarded as much on mis hits..but on solid contact the ball will fly..these irons are not for a golfer who shoots in the 100's but anyone looking for irons that add that little something extra these are for you..who knew Nike would produce such a great golf product..the new kids on the block keep getting it rite!! Excellent feeling clubs - compares well vs my MX-20's. I heard bad things about Nike's in general. Only reason I tried them was because I went to Buick Classics and tried the video swing check and these were only clubs available. My Daly in training (long back) swing with 7 iron gave me a such a great feed back. I have to admit that I struck it well, but hitting the crisp sweet spot with 1st swing is not an usual event. It felt accurate and long, which launch monitor confirmed. PW was even better. I seriously considered switching to these because of more blade like feel and look on the higher irons. But I don't play well enough and I do love my MX-20's. And clubs have strange way of turning against owners as soon as you purchase them. And long irons still favors MX-20's. So, I just decided to replace my pw with cleveland instead. If anything happens to my MX-20's, then this will be the first clubs I will look. solid but different -- that's the short summary here. i went from playing ping i/3+ blades to these irons because i wanted to give myself more birdie opportunities on par 3's and 4's. i felt a forged iron would help me be more accurate but i wanted blade short irons and cavity long irons because blade long irons lose too much distance if they're even slightly mis-hit. i had considered making a mixed set with titleist irons but when i saw these clubs advertised for a very low price ($300 2 thru pw on ebay!!!), i decided to give the nike's a try. i must say i am very happy and i am very likley to stick with these clubs. they look great at address -- i think only mizuno makes a better looking forging. the short irons (blade) provide great feel and feedback, the middle irons (muscle back) are very solid and the long irons (cavity back) are decent as well, although perhaps not as solid feeling as the short and middle irons nor as forgiving as a cast cavity back. i love the feedback i get throughout the round from forged clubs that tell me if my swing is getting a bit off and in which way it's getting off. i am hitting more greens and i do expect my handicap will start to come down as a result. it's no surprise to me that most of the nike pros (cink, ames, sabbatini versus tiger and immelman) use these clubs rather than all blades with the traditional weaker lofts and shorter shafts. note that because the clubs have different head construction they will feel slightly different and the ball flights seem different to me too. for some reason, i tend to draw the short and mid irons, and fade the long irons. this didn't happen with my ping irons, but i'm sure it's something i'll get used to and make the proper adjustments so i can hit them all straight. they have the modern lofts and lengths (stronger and longer) so you should be as long if not longer with these irons as with any others. there's a chance i will replace the nike 2 iron with my old ping i/3+ 2 iron because i use the 2 iron a lot off the tee and i could see it being the case that the ping launches it a little better in the air. one other thing is to make sure you get the right shaft as it seems to effect performance that much more with forged irons: rifle 6.0's are perfect for me, but if you like dynamic golds i'm sure you can find them for sale with that shaft too. the stock nike shaft is a bit too light and soft for me, but the good thing is you can order them with a variety of factory installed non-stock shafts from nike. Customer Service Very helpful and accessible. They have a great online chat at their website nikegolf.com. They were the ones who informed me which Nike Pros used the combos versus their traditional blades. Similar Products Used: Used Mizuno forged cavity backs years ago and didn't like them. |

Being left-handed, I have a built in handicap from the start especially when it comes to buying clubs. I've played my Taylor Made oversize Burners irons for 6 years with not much improvement. I've always been a Nike guy (shoes, clothes etc) so I started checking out prices, availability and so on but couldn't find what I wanted without paying $700 - $1000 again in left-hand. After hours of research I finally found a set of brand new Nike Combo irons on e-bay. Left-hand with stiff shafts (Speed Step Steel)not to mention the price...Let's just say most good drivers cost more tha what I paid. Too good to be true? While waiting for the to get here, I started reading all 75 reviews from this site and without sounding rude, the negative comments sound like they come from people who either can hit the or they're not as good as they think. Without hitting the irons I played my first round yesterday and took 5 shots off my score (81) which I've played probabley 25 rounds this year and have avaraged 86. I've never hit a 7 irons that long and straight not to mention my 5, 9 and wedge. The shafts are awesome with a mid-kick and solid feel even on mis-hits. I'm a big dude and swing it like a mother and I felt and saw nothing less than positive results with these irons. Maybe I'm the minority but with these irons and a few more rounds, I expect to reach my desired handicap very soon. Thanks Nike and a specially thanks to the e-bay dude for having what I wanted. If you want to improve your game, this combo set is the ticket. Customer Service Awesome. Similar Products Used: Taylor Made Racs (OS and LT). Calloway (Big something...) |

Nike ProCombo Forged Iron Stiff Steel
I have had these irons in the bag since the beginning of the 2004 season, and I am quite impressed. The Nike ProCombo's are a good blend of accurate, controlled short-irons and forgiving mid- and long-irons. They look spectacular and are of good quality. It is worth noting that these are my first departure from cast cavity-backed clubs. When making the switch, I demo'd both the Titleist 690MB and Mizuno MP37, but found the Nike's much easier to hit in the long irons. The short irons feel like most other blades. Distance control and feedback are excellent. The mid irons are my favorite, with muscle-cavity designs that are easy to hit but give me the shaping ability that I could never get from my old clubs. The long irons are base-weighted cavity back clubs that are easy to hit and feel quite solid. The accuracy provided by the short irons has helped my scores tremendously. The Nike lofts are one degree weaker than my previous clubs, but my distances have remained nearly identical. I haven't had any problems with the Nike SpeedStep steel shafts (stiff flex) or with the stock Nike/Lamkin grips, which are excellent. I will use these clubs for many years to come, and highly recommend them to someone looking for more control in the short game without going to a set of full blades.
