I had decided last year, that I wanted to buy a blade set of some sort, as I was tired of hitting offset irons...ESPECIALLY the shorter irons. I was playing with a set of Ping Zings that I had bought a couple years previous and I had grown tired of not being able to play the ball. I had narrowed my search down to TaylorMade CB MB combos, Hogans, Mizuno MP-30's, Ping S59's, and Nike Pro Combos. Early this year, I purchased a set of 2004 Pro Combo irons. They're an extra stiff flex, with Nikes Speed Step shafts. I'll admit, that the first couple rounds with these things made me question my own sanity, but as of the past couple of weeks, I've really started to get a handle of these things...and I LOVE EM! I'm nailing and holding greens like I haven't done for years. It's nice to stare down the green and be confident in leaving a nice mark within 10 ft. of the hole - Awesome! You can get these irons fairly cheap, and they play fairly similar to the Mizuno MP-30's...maybe a more solid club even. Only thing I'd like is a different shaft. If you have a fairly repeatable swing, and you want to improve your game, get blades or at least a combo set of some sort. Why not the Nikes?

The guys at Nike have a great chatting system, which beats the hell out of being on the phone waiting forever.

I purchased these to replace Mizuno Pros. The Nikes' had stiff Speed Step factory shafts. I kept comming up short with the 5,6 and 9 irons. I had our local pro shop check the whole set...I was shocked that those shafts were marked stiff and yet they turned out to be slightly firmer than a senior flex. Quality control still seems to elude nike. I had the Fenwick graphite shafts removed from my Mizunos and put on the Nikes. I had them spined 1* draw and now they are perfect for my game. Distance is comprable to the Mizuno pro.

Ok, I am a huge golf club junky who has tried nearly all of them. I buy and sell left handed golf equipment just to fund my golf habit. I have played Mizuno MP30's for the past few years and recently decided to do a few golf club tests. I compared the MP30's, Hogan FTX's, and the Nike Pro Combos. I compared these clubs for nearly a month head to head and I settled on the Pro Combos suprisingly. The Hogans and Mizuno are still great irons but the Pro Combos have to be the best $250.00 NEW irons available. Distance is a little less then the others but Irons are not about distance. The 8 iron for me is a solid 165 yard club. The factory shaft is a little light but plays well to me. You can't go wrong with any of these 3 irons but the Nike is far and away the best value club available to me. I really wanted to like the Hogans better but they were just about equal. I did like the fact that they were a little heavier and slightly stronger lofts then the Nike but I can't see a $350 price difference. I prefered the lower trajectory that I had with the Pro Combos. They are a bargain (The 2004 Models) now that the 2005 Pro Combos are available. I prefer the 2004 models by far when i can get them for $250.00.

wow, these clubs are the best for the money!! I bought these on ebay for 360.00 brand new still wrapped in factory plastic. I bought the irons with the rifle 6.0 shafts which make a big difference. Ive noticed that any stock manufacture shafts are garbage now. On the course, these are the best feeling clubs ive ever hit. Some people say that the "blades" on the 8-9-W are not easy to hit, well, they are! the feel is so pure! My friend just bought the titleist 704s, and we performed a test on the range with somebody that has not hit either of them...well, the pro-combos was the choice! so, he spent almost 800.00 for his clubs, compared to 360.00 for mine..do the math! you cant go wrong with these bad boys!!!

Earlier this year I resigned to one inevitable fact...I was changing my irons at some point this season...probably late in the season to cash in on birthday credits. With this in mind, I have driven the people at 4 seperate Golftown locations in the Montreal area nuts, trying practically every iron imaginable, in search of a combination of forgiveness, workability, and value $$$. After trying many models that I really liked, I would have to say that the Nike Pro Combo fits the bill perfectly. I spent about an hour yesterday putting holes in a 145 yard green with the 8 iron. It was honestly the most accurate iron shots I have ever made. The saleseman, whith whom I have golfed before (scratch golfer) was hitting it as well, drawing it in every time, but I was firing straight darts at the pin, stopping a few within three feet. I have tried the whole set now, and can honestly say that they are exactly what I am looking for. They have the great forged feel, and they have no offset, so the ball goes exactly where you hit it. This also means that they aren't the most forgiving club in the world, but they are very nice irons for a great price, and they are something I will keep in the bag for a long time...meaning I will more than likely go with these.

Best irons for the money right now. I found a set on ebay with s300 shafts and had to get them. A lot of the negative feedback on these clubs center around the speed step shaft, so I steered clear. Great decision. I have wanted to try forged irons for a long time and I wish I would have swtiched earlier. The feel with these clubs is amazing and the balls spins on the greens. I chose these irons because of their blade like look, but I was a little wary of not being able to hit the ball. Have no fear, the 3-4 are forgiving, 5-7 are smooth, and the 8-P are deadly accurate. The only oddity for me is that I lost a 5 yards of distance per club when I switched to these clubs. No matter, the distance is the same everytime and I will take accuracy over distance anytime.

well after going to GolfTown and trying out these clubs and hitting about 100 balls total in the simulated driving range. I must say i was completely sold...unbelieveable irons, and the price for them wasn't bad either. the price at Golf Town was $598 canadian. after a couple of weeks, Golf Town didn't have any left in stock, they only had the pro combo's in graphite shafts... so i ordered a set off TGW (the golf warehouse) for about $399 USD when i recieved them 2 days after i ordered them, i imediately went to the range to hit some balls...i must have hit like 300 balls...haha anyways, these irons have a very solid feel due to the forging. i love how the short irons (PW-8) are blade like, this makes them deadly accurate from 145 yards in. the 7-5 iron are half-cavity which makes them very easy to hit and also accurate. i must say the long irons (4&3) are VERY easy to hit because of the cavity back design, easy to get the ball up in the air, i must have hit my 3 iron about 210 yards down the center =) i'd say all the irons are extremely accurate, very forgiving and i must say these irons look awsome i'd recommend these irons only for ppl with a consistent swing.

Model Reviewed: Nike Pro Combo Irons 3-PW

I'm a golfer that plays once a week during the spring and summer up here in New England. My 6-iron swing speed is about 90mph. I'm 5'3", and been playing for about 5 years. I bought the Nike Pro Combo irons for $325 from RockBottomGolf. I was using Wilson ProStaff OS for nearly five years, and I was starting to see improvement in my overall game. I decided to treat myself to these for this price. At first they were tough to hit. Going from graphite shaft irons to steel shaft irons was tough, and the sweetspot is smaller. I was pulling every shot at the range to the left. I was ready to trade them in. I would hit a ball with my ProStaff, the ball would go straight. Then I'd use the Pro Combo, a 8-10 yard hook. I kept trying, and the result is a better swing for me. People on this site raved about feedback. I had no idea what that was, but now I do. If you don't know what feedback is, you will with these clubs. They are hot looking clubs. It's like a hot girl. Guys give the hot attractive girls more breaks than the uglier ones. This is kind of like that. They're good looking so I stuck with them, and now they're rewarding me. Distance has remained the same. Though they are steel shafts, they are lighter than many other steel-shafted clubs. I find the 3-iron off the tee as a great weapon now, I never used to do that. Highly recommend these clubs if you are a golfer that shoots in the high 80's to low 90's and wants to improve their swing through feedback. And wants good looks.

I just got the Nike Pro Combo OS, best club I've ever owned. A few years ago I was in the market for a new set of irons. I went with the Titleist 762. Not a bad set, but I was never really happy with them. I was looking for a club with a thin top line and blade look, but with some forgiveness. Then like an idiot, I went to the Titleist 690.CB, big mistake. Couldn't hit them for the life of me, lost at least a club length in distance. Like the say, its a players club. My eyes were bigger then the sweetspot. I went to Roger Dunns, saw the Nike Pro Combo 2004 model which they had marked down to $399, they have a 90 day playability program, how could I lose. I loved the look of them, but still not quite what I needed. I had them order the Nike Pro Combo OS. Best thing I ever did. What a great looking club, OS but not like a shovel (Callaway). I had instant confidence, my distance came back. I highly reccommend these clubs.

Customer Service

Roger Dunn's service was number one. They let me exchange with no questions, ordered my new set which came in 5 days. Couldn't be happier.

Model Reviewed: Nike Pro Combo w/ 6.0 Rifle shafts

After two years of screwing around with every iron under the sun, I've found what I was looking for. The Nike Pro Combmo with rifle shafts fit my game perfectly. I can shape shots close to the hole with the short irons, and knock it stiff and straight with the long irons. As far as playability goes they surpass all the other irons I've mentioned below because of the combination of clubs. In terms of feel I would say they are even with the Taylor Made LT's with the Mizuno Mx-23 and both the Ping G2/I3 Plus as the best that I tried. The difference is that those irons are all at least $250 more than the Pro Combo's. I got mine off ebay for $300 custom fit with the rifle 6.0 shafts which fit me perfectly(92 mph with a 6 iron). I attribute a lot of the negative reviews to two things. The first is the Speedstep shaft that Nike put on them doesn't match the club great. It's a little light, producing accentuated inconsistancies with faster swing speeds. Secondly if you read all 80 odd reviews at this point, a lot of them date back to 2003/2004 when this club retailed for over $1000 CDN. At that price their where and are better choices out there. Currently the Nike Pro Combo with its combination of price and playability, make it the perfect club for a mid to scartch golfer. Put them in your bag for a while, you'll have a hard time taking them out. Cheers.
