I spent weeks looking for new irons. I finally decided in the Mizuno MX20. With these irons you get the best of both worlds. Extreme feel from a forged club and easy hitting cavity back. Irons are perfect for the mid 80's golfer who is looking for more feel and is not ready to graduate to blades.

Great clubs for midhandicaps, really solid feel, good distance, great accuracy. These clubs scream of confidence at address, and even on missed hits, the ball travels pretty well.

I have only hit these a few times, and am actually waiting for my set to arrive, but they are a great club for someone looking for a muscleback/blade profile with cavityback forgiveness. More to come after a few rounds...

Sorry, but the MX-20s really aren't that good, at least not with the stock Dynalite shafts. I played the summer of 2001 with Callaway X-14 Pro Series irons, and half of this summer with the MX-20s. I switched back to the X-14s, and am damn glad I did. I think it's mainly the heavier Rifle shafts in the X-14s that has made the difference. Why anyone would want a light shaft is beyond me. The flex on my two sets of irons is the same, but I hit the X-14s a full club further, and more importantly, my distance control with the X-14s is MUCH better. I was getting extremely inconsistent distances with my MX-20s. Do yourself a favor and just say no to the MX-20s.

I am a 6'5" 54 year-old leftie. As fellow lefties know, it is tough to find clubs to test as many guys on these sites recommend. Even if we find a model, you are lucky to get a 5 iron to try for a day or two. I was struggling with my iron play until I went through a fitting lesson (which I would recommend highly). Through that lesson, I found out my clubs fit all wrong, thus starting my quest for new irons. I found I need 1 1/2 inches extended and 4 degrees upright. I tried Titleist 762, Hogan Edge Pro, Taylor Made 320, Ping blade even though they were standard length and lie. I could not find a demo Mizuno. After much procrastination and research, I narrowed my choice to Taylor Made 320 or the Mizuno MX-20. The forged aspect of the MX-20 swayed my thought process and I called the folks at egolfdirect. I worked there with Ralph, who was super. I ordered 3-PW +1 1/2, up 4 degrees with Rifle flighted 6.0 shafts. I ordered 52, 56 and 60 wedges with Rifle spinner 5.5 shafts. After a little over a week, I received the clubs. The wedge shafts were incorrect but Mizuno corrected immediately. This acquisition was the best move I have made in my golf game. I have been struggling in the mid to high 80's and first time out shot 79! I since have 2 low 80 scores and would have been better had I not hit the wrong club a few times. The MX-20 is roughly 1/2 club longer than the Zevo irons I was hitting. Also, the ball flight is awesome with the Rifle shafts. There is nothing like the feel of a good shot with a forged iron! I would highly recommend the MX-20 if you strike the ball fairly consistently. Even though they are somewhat forgiving, they are much better suited to decent ball strikers.

Customer Service

Very, very good. As I mentioned, the wedges came with incorrect shafts but the problem was immediately rectified to my satisfaction.

Model Reviewed: Mizuno MX-20's

I recently sold my Comp-Ez's and purchased a set of Ben Hogan Apex Edge Irons hoping they would be as good as everyone says they are. I hated heavy and bulky Hogans and wished I had kept my Comp EZ's. I contacted SwingMasters Golf and they took the Hogans in trade in towards a new set of Mizuno MX-20s that they ordered for me. I hoped that the MX-20s would be just as good as the Comp-Ez's since Mizuno had quite making the Comp-Ezs. I have know played them a hand full of times and they are actually better then the Com-Ez's. They are very forgiving yet still playable with a very attractive yet simple head. The yardages are different however with the MX-20's higher ball flight but once I get used to it they will be fine. Mizuno didn't have them built when they were ordered however I had them at my front door in less then a week. If you want a good company to deal with go to Scott at Swingmasters Golf (www.swingmasters.com and they will fix you up. I'm in Oklahoma and these guys just made it to easy to get a new set of Mizunos that I plan on playing for a long time.

I was reading up on some of the reviews writen here about the MX-20 irons and I decided to demo them on a 120 slope course. I loved the round.I played MP14's before and I felt I needed something forgiving but still retaining the feel of a forged club. These fit the bill. The long irons are quiet easy on mis hits but, one can still come out with some nasty slices. The short irons hit quiet far. The only drawback is that a person playing a regular shaft before (like me) might have to upgrade to stiff on these. Also, the yardage spread between the short irons seems to be tight. I love the look of these clubs and the feel. The price is $699 in a golf store, but one can get good deals on the net.

Customer Service

Spoke to Drew from Drewco golf at 4pm central time and he had them out at 4.30PM.I got them the day after. Good values.

Very good irons. A large clubhead that boosts your confidence, great forged feel, very accurate, just like a green machine. Clubs may not be the most beutiful, i.e. the cavity, but they perform so good that you forget the how the cavity looks like. The stock shaft is Dynamic Gold Lite, that may not fit everybody. These irons are more beutiful that Callaway irons, or similar irons, AND perform as good if not better. You don´t have to be that good to play these forged irons and they´re also good for low handicappers, like myself, a 5 handicapper. High handicappers don´t have to be afraid. Be sure to have them fitted, i.e. the correct lie, since the sole, or leading edge, is not as curved as you see on many other irons. I´ve tried Mizuno Comp EZ irons, and these are even more forgiving. So, carefully review all the options you have. Mizuno don´t come up with a new model every year, for some valid reason.
