These are great irons. I'm back in the game after a 12 year absence and had never hit a cavity backed club. I tried many irons but settled on the Cleveland TA7 and the MX-20. After a couple hundred balls with a demo six iron of each I decided on the MX-20. The TA7 is a great club, and I can't really say that I hit one dramatically better than the other. So, choosing between the two was based, in part, on aesthetics. There is no doubt that the MX-20 is a beautiful iron. The MX-20 comes standard with a DynaLite shaft which has a low kick point. This creates an unbelievably high trajectory. Since I have decent club head speed and have no problem getting the ball in the air, I custom ordered the clubs with the Dynamic R300 shafts which gets the ball plenty high with a more boring trajectory. Since my old clubs(Lynx Master Imperials) are cast iron muscle back blades of a bygone era, I have to get used to the length of the MX-20. The miss hits take a bit of distance off the shot, but not much. Miss hits also don't hurt like they do with my blades. There is no doubt that I hit better more consistently than with my old blades. But, what really sold me on these irons is that they are one of the few cavity back irons where you can really feel the shot. That alone eliminated nearly every other iron I tried except for the TA7 and the MX-20. Because of the feel, I'll never go back to cast iron. By the way, I recommend getting iron club head covers because the only consistent complaint I heard of is that these clubs ding easily.

Customer Service

Drew Baumhauer of drewcogolf.com is great. He responds to emails and personally answers the phone. BTW, that $550 purchase price included shipping. Mizuno's 800 number customer service is really good,

They are fine club and very easy to swing. They have big sweet spot. I've never had such an easy long iron(3,4)as this club. I used to hit about 210 yard with taylor-made, but with mx-20, I can hit about 220-230 yards. Now, I use 3 iron more frequently than driver. The only problem that I'm facing with this club is short irons. Since their loft is 0.5-1.0 lower than others, their tragectory is little bit low and fly too far. I used to hit 115 with my old pitching iron but now I'm hitting about 135-140 yard with mx-20. I have about 40 yards gap between sand and pitching wedge. Now I have to buy one more club to fill the gap. Anyways, this club is little bit heavier than other clubs which is very good to feel the weight throughout the swing.

Model Reviewed: MX 20's

I have a long story about my choice of MX 20's. I've been playing Callaway irons for years. I wanted a better players club and to take advantage of newer technology. So I went to a great local place(Stony Hill Golf) and began to get fitted for irons, something you all should do. Once it was determined (after hundreds of balls on several days) that I was 1/2 inch long and 2degree upright I demoed 6 irons from over 15 sets(Hogan , Callaway,Cleveland, Ping, Titlest,Taylormade) and came down to 3 . . . Ping I3 OS, Cleveland TA 7 and the MX20's. The Pings are consistent but heavy and a little ugly, the TA7' s were sweet but the MX20's are the real deal . . forgiving yet forged, tight and wonderful to hit. They are perfect for the golfer going from 88 -95 to 79-85.

Customer Service

My only exposure is waiting 4-5 weeks for the set , remeber I ordered custom and the wedges . . .but I was told of that ahead of time.

I shoot in the low 90's with the occassional dip into the high 80's. I really like the MX-20's because they're forged, but are forgiving irons. They feel so nice when hit in the sweetspot, but mis-hits don't hurt like with most forged clubs. They have a higher profile than the Cleveland's I was using, but I got used to that.

Customer Service

Mizuno has always seemed to be difficult... mainly due to long wait times for repairs, special orders, etc. I was going to order the MX-20's new and was told it would be months. Bought demos from Edwi

This is a question. Currently i'm playing the top flite xl2000s. Nice set of clubs but i want to upgrade. But i still want a game improvement club rather than a player's. So lookin to get either the mizuno comp ez's, mizuno mx-20s, or the taylor made 200 series irons. Which one is best in terms of being game improvement irons. Hope everyone can help. Thanks

The sweetspot feels like it is the size of a half-dollar. I've played several different models of Mizuno irons and these are by far the most forgiving. And they have the feel that you would expect from a Mizuno forging. What more could you want?

Customer Service

No problems.

To some degree I agree with joonkwqn, because this should show an 'overall' review and should not limited to the club performance alone. In this regard, Mizuno has one of the worst customer service in this business.

I've given a prior review on these irons and they just keep getting better. This however, is directed to the previous reviewer, joonwun, who is still waiting for his irons. I don't think it's fair for him to dis the irons just because he has yet to receive them. I think his review skews the overall ratings. Go ahead and bad mouth the service from Mizuno but don't knock the irons themselves. I look forward to an honest assessment from you after you have had an opportunity to play a few rounds with them.

Customer Service

I've had excellent service.
