Mizuno MP-14 Irons

Mizuno MP-14 Irons

DESCRIPTION

A favorite of dozens of PGA Tour Pros, the MP-14TM is one of the most popular forged blades on the PGA Tour and features a clubhead made of Grain Flow ForgedTM mild carbon steel. These nickel chrome plated forged blades are as solid as they look, delivering the feel and performance demanded by accomplished players. The MP-14 irons feature a cut-away muscle-back contour design with a slight offset to generate feedback and excellent workability. They also feature rolled leading edges to reduce turf drag.

Great forged irons! I lowered my score about 5-6 strokes with'em. Deadly accurate distance control with a little forgiveness. Feel is heavenly if hit with sweet spot.

The Mizuno mp14 irons are a sweet hitting set of blades. If you are a good golfer these are great. I wouldn't reccomend a 90-100's player using this but if you shoot in the 80's or lower I think that these clubs should improve your game.

These are excellent, well-built clubs. I turmoiled for months over whether or not I was good enough to hit a blade. I ordered some, then cancelled my order, then found some for sale on consignment for only $350.00. What a steal! I almost felt guilty. I've played one complete round of 18 now, and I only remember one shot that felt really bad. Furthermore, I was deadly accurate all day. I now firmly beleive that forged quality is far more important then the size of the cavity. The best thing is that 10 years from now, I can sell them for more then what a payed!

If you want to experience the sheer bliss of hitting a classic forged iron right on the button, you don't need to spend big bucks. Get some second-hand Mizuno TP9's, as played by MANY tour pro's over the last 14 years. I generally shoot about 80-82 but I can't putt for toffee and my driving is nothing special, (except with my Mizuno TPZ 1# iron)...so I recon my iron play is good, and a lot of that is down to the way these clubs "talk back" to you.

If my TP9's ever get stolen, I will search until I find another set.

Don't worry about loft, lie, shaft, or swingweight it's really easy to have this adjusted with a forged club. ( Mine are 1 deg. up, S400, tour loft, D4)

I often try other players clubs and have only found one other manufacturer that feel as good...a really ancient (and probably rare) set of McGregor irons, the back of which was one huge muscle with a slightly raised 5mm margin. Mind you I have never had the opportunity to hit the Hogan Apex, which look like they should be the business...but you never can tell until you try it for yourself.

After much deliberation and reading the posts here of the single digit and scratch golfers, i had decided to make the switch to forged irons from cavity backs. The only thing I can say is I wished I had done it years ago. The feel is a world apart from what I had been used to. And for all you cavity back players afraid of the "blades", give them a try you may feel that they are not as hard to hit as you might think.Instead of the club face being giant to the ball as it is with cavity backs, i feel that the ball is now that much bigger due to the smaller club head. The mp-14's are a dream to swing being nice and balanced not requiring a throw your back out swing to get a nice distance as the club head really does quite a nice job getting the ball out there. The first round I played them , I shot a 47(no practice at all with them) on the front and a 41 on the back after a little getting used to them. It was confidence inspiring, isn't that a huge part of the game? Should hopefully help me get into the high seventies next year all things being equal. Are they pricey, a little, but if you use them for two years you wouldn't miss the extra 4 hundred bucks anyway at the end of the second year.

These are beautifully crafted irons, that are just fun to own. I love the look and feel of these forged blades. When I switched to these from the 845 Silver Scotts I was very impressed. When hit flush they have a very soft feel but not such a great one on anything else than flush. If you have a nice grooved golfswing these are a great choice. Or if you dont think you have the consistency the Ben hogan Apex Plus has a nice feel as well as similar blade asthetics.

I've had this set of MP14's for a couple of years. No matter how many different sets that I play with I keep going back to them. Cavity backs just don't have the look or feel that I like. I'm convinced, there is no better set of clubs. I've hit shots with the MP14's that I will never forget. No other comes close.

Switched to blades 3 years ago and can't believe what I was missing! These are some of the best blades out there at a competitive price. Yardage control is superb, as is workability. If you are a low HC this is a great club. After hitting these you will not put anything else in your bag. Most other blades just don't offer this solid feel. Recommend using DGs300 Sensicore or Rifle 6.5 for 90-95 swing speed for ultimate feel.

I was looking for a blade to replace my old Hogan Medallions when I had a chance to hit the mizuno Mp-14's. I didn't like them at first, but after repeated practice sessions on the range they began to feel better and better. The ball flight is high and soft and they are very workable. I have not lost any distance with any of the irons throughtout the set. The short irons are especially easy to hit. These clubs are not for everyone, but if you are a serious single digit handicapped player..there is no finer club made. I also hit the new forged driver. This club has a boring ball flight with extended roll. It is also very easy to hit from ther fairway.
