I just started to play golf again after a long time away, so I have been trying many different clubs, to find a set I can hone my game with. I tryed all out game improvement clubs, blades and like these, intermediate.

I just love the way these Mac's fly high and straight. Just give them a half a chance and they give you great results, that are repeatable. These will be staying in the bag for a good long time.

Prior to playing with the Macs, I have played a wide range of iron types each with a unique set of characteristics. Some of these irons have been marketed to the high handicapper (original bertha irons), some for the better, feel players (mizuno mp-30s), and many others in between (ping g's, i's, clevelands, etc. Each offers their own set of advantages and disadvantages. While trying to find the one that met all the positive elements, I hit the macs. Many things struck me as positive and a blend of the forgiveness and feel.
1.) Great feel. The feedback was similar to the Mizunos (mp-30, 32s, 60s). The sound is very much like the Mizuno click.
2.) Forgiving on off center hits, unlike the Mizunos
3.) Great ball flight. High with piercing trajectory.
4.) Great quality shafts.
5.) Easy square set up.

Most recently, as many golfers find, I wanted to see if another iron could replace the macs. I hit the new mp-60s and 32s. Great feel on solidly struck iron shots but not nearly as forgiving. I have read countless reviews written by higher handicappers stating that the mizunos really aren't that hard to hit and really aren't bad for a 10-15. I don't buy it. Maybe the first few swings produce a reasonable result but they will find that other clubs are easier to hit and score with in the long term. There is a reason very few PGA, Senior PGA, and Nationwide play with anything less that cavity back/game improvement irons. Less that 5% of pros play with blades. The m565s may not receive the press and the efforts from sales clerks pushing Ping, Callaway, Cleveland, or Mizuno, but trust me, they are solid and very good. Try them on a range, not against a net placed 10 yards in front of a mat in a retail store. I would venture to say that one would be very disappointed to have found these so late in their quest for a nice golf club.

Bought the M565 graphite irons after trying out on the driving range. I have been to driving range four times and played on the course twice with the set. What an impressive set of irons!!! I had two of the best rounds of golf in a long while. It hits longer than my Callaway X-14 and provided better feel. The club is at least one club longer than X-14. In my last round, I used the PW for a 125-yard Par 3 and I over-shoot the green to end up in the bunker way back, this is a hole that I usually tee-off with an 9 irons. I love thsee irons especially the 6-7-8 irons, so long and so accurate. I guess this set is going to stay with me for a while just like the Callaway X-14.

I started playing golf one year ago.In that year I brought my handicap down from 36 to 24.My clubs needed to be changed(advice from a golf pro). After reading over 50 reviews ,my mind was made up.I would go for the MacGregor V-Foil 565.I received my new clubs 4 days ago,And on Sunday of to the course. At first I thought I would need many rounds of golf to adapt to my new clubs.Wrong, out on the driving range I was hitting straighter and longer shots. What would it be on the course?Well, where I needed a 7 iron I now use a 9,for almost all my shots I am dowm 2 numbers.I have a feeling of easyness when I hit with these clubs. Not to talk about precision.I have never been so precise with my 8,9,and P.Fanstatic clubs,I am sure they will stay in my bag for a long time.By the way,I played my first ever under 90 game 86.Thanks MacGregor ,I am on my way to my goal,0 handicap.

My best friend has the 455's and he gets alot more distance than he did with his Titleist 962's. I use Golfsmith Tour Cavity forged irons. We were playing on day and I was out 140 yards to an elevated green, that is a 7 iron with my golfsmith irons. I hit it onto the green, then he says hey try one of my irons and he hands me his PW (455 iron) Well it didn't think that it would make it to the green...but it did no problem. WOW!! So then I go to the "Islands driving range in Orange County California" I checked out Callaway Fusions and the 565's. I hit my golfsmith and the Callaways the exact same distance. You can easily tell this because you are hitting into a big pond/lake with islands out in the landing area. Each island is marked with their distance. However when I used the 565's my ball was splashing into the water 15 to 20 yards further than the other 2 iron sets. My ball flight was straight high and true. I was actually flying straight over the island I was aiming at. I would say that in the case of overall feel, my Golfsmith feel the best (like butter) when you hit it on the sweet spot.Next would be the 565's and then the Fusions. But as for distance? that is no contest the 565's for sure. My wife has given me the green light for some new clubs and these are the clubs for me. The reason I didn't check out the 455's at the islands driving range is because they didn't have any because it was last years model. You can't go wrong with these irons.

UK Reviewer Having came back to the game after a 12 year break (Having a family meant either Green Fees or a second car for the wife, the wife won!) I decided to buy a new set, I bought the Ping G2's but as my game improved I found the G2's were hitting too high and very little feedback, but excellent forgiveness. I toyed with the idea of changing the shafts but this was quite expensive. So I was in the market for new clubs, you know you read all the info and then get confused. I thought I would try MacGregor as they were around when I started playing some years ago. I tried the Blade M675 with DG S300, very high ball flight and I think my game was not consistent enough to get the best out of these clubs. I then tried the M565 with the Rifle Shaft in 5.5, what a superb set of clubs, these are more like wands, just point and shoot. Great ball flight, superb spin control, stops the ball on a sixpence, and above all the feel from the forging is so good, much better than the cast Ping G2's! I found a custom set for £315.00 as I am 0.5" longer and 2 degrees upright. I play of 11 and my first game I went round in gross 3 over par! Best clubs I have played with. I got the Gap Wedge in the same M565 as this is a 50 degree and bought the Tour Wedge in 56 degree as my Sand/Lob Wedge al in Rifle 5.5. Go and try and see the difference. MacGregor will still use this club for 2006 as it is so good. Also you will find the Rifles play slightly stiffer than some other shafts, so it is worth trying the demo clubs in Regular and Stiff options. I only turned a few shots over in the Regular, but enough to make me buy the Stiff. I have to say the Rifle shafts are phenomenal.

Customer Service

Very helpful but of no real use, their database was out of date so they was not aware of who had an account and who did not. The only real good data was the name of the Rep for my area who was spot on. If it was not for him I would not have bought MacGregor.

Traded in my Macgregor 1025 CM + a Cobra 400 SZ driver (won for long drive in Tournament) for these irons. Best irons ever played, even better than my Hogan Edges. Long, high and great looking too. A definite club longer if not more, but also because of the stronger lofts associated with these clubs. I have the rifle 4.5 steel shafts. Originally thought that the shafts would be too weak for me, but these, for some reason play very stiff. Try the clubs - youwill definitely love them. TK3

Just played my first round with the M565's. My best round of iron ball striking in quite some time. Every shot was solid and with great feel. These clubs are the best kept secret in golf! I was playing the Mizuno Sure's and was looking for a forged club to move up to. Thought I would try the MX-23's thinking I would stay with Mizuno's. Although a very good club, they weren't good enough for me to spend couple a hundred dollars for. Then I hit the M565's with a rifle 5.5 (firm) shaft. Fantastic! Great feel and very good distance on mis-hits. Clubs set up very well for me and also are well designed. Irons are excellent around green for chips and pitches. I ordered the GW 50* I'm so pleased with short irons. May even buy the SW. Try the firm flex 5.5 before buying, I always hit regular flex and found the 4.5 to be to soft. Sum it up, Forged heads, Flighted rifle stock shaft, great looking club. Golf is fun again! TRY EM,THEN BUY EM!

It's an incredible club to hit. Not only the club feel so soft, but it also perform very well. I demoed this club at Golftown, it was a 6 iron. I was able to shoot 180 yards; something I'm rarely able to acheive. I was also suprised by the trajectory:it's high and produce a very long carry. But let me warn you about something, this club are very notchy about the way your club is align - A fade or a draw can be inprint to the ball without any warning - but stay under control anyway. Let me tell you that you have so much for what you pay for. The Rifle Flighted shafts, the forged head and the balance- everything fells nice.
