Wonderful clubs - I have the 4.5 (Regular) Rifle shafts. I hit a consistent draw.

These clubs are the finest I have played to date. All of the clubs are playable 3-PW. However, all manufacturers have basically turned their pitching wedges into 9 irons.

That's right - these clubs are longer primarily because the PW has a loft of 46 degrees. I highly recommend purchasing the gap wedge (really a traditional pitching wedge at 50 degrees).

This will let you attack the flag with a full swing from 110 or so. These clubs will take you all the way from the 90s to the 70s Check out the scores of other reviewers. They are all over the place, but are lower than pure player improvement clubs. You can get these as low as $140 or so on ebay

Live in Scotland. Was looking for a new set of irons after going back to cavity backs a few years ago. Wanted something to excite me. These puppies fit the bill. Nice looking and very accomodating. Got 3-PW in U.K. but had to import sand wedge , gap wedge and 2 iron from States (Edwin Watts). Good clubs, generally getting me further. Only played about 15 rounds so far, and leaving the long irons hanhing out at moment, but I@m sure they will click into my "draw" swing soon. Great distance, at leasst 1 club less required, and great "click" when perfect contact made. I got the rifle steel shafts. When filling this review out it asks what level best suits you,............up till these it was "shoots in the 90's..........NOT ANYMORE !!!......and if I do............it's the fault of my driver...........lol

As everyone else has stated. These clubs are at least 1 club longer. The shafts are 1 inch longer than a normal set of irons (ergo ~~ extra length).

It's hard to find a flaw in these irons. I also have a set of 675 blades from Mac G. Both are great sets.

The shafts play a touch stiffer than what you'd expect. The graphite shafts listed as Regular are closer to a firm flex. The steel shafted models are Rifle so the 5.5 are again slightly stiffer.

Talk about height!!!

They hit very high without any loss of distance. It's like a missile flying through the air.

I play a pitch wedge in the 565 set at 140 yards, in the 675 I play it from 130. Again, they are about 1 club longer.

In short, very well made clubs, attractive, and super easy to hit.

I have to agree with everyone else. I just purchased a set of V-FOIL M565's after finding them on ebay new with good graphite for less than $250... They are great!

I was primarily looking for graphite and stumbled across them. After reading page after page of great reviews here, I figured why not try them.

I was a little surprised at the thickness of the sole. Since they load the 6 iron through 3 iron with tungsten in the sole this is necessary. But after you hit them you quickly get over the look... They are a little bulky but hit the ball very solidly. The long iron get the ball elevated very easily. These irons are very easy to hit.

My first swing I hit an eight iron a little thin. Boy, could I tell it. The iron vibrated in my hands. Just the feedback you'd expect from a forged iron. But I was surprised to get that much feedback with graphite and this much of a game improvement design. After playing Taylor Made RAQ's for the last three years this was great. With the Taylor Mades, you get zero feedback. Hit 'em fat, thin, off the toe, whatever... They pretty much feel the same.

My iron game had been suffering. I really believe these great solid feeling irons will help me out.

These irons are easily the best deal going on... Especially with the "Graphite Design" graphite shafts. You can't go wrong with a set of these!

I was experimenting with a buddy's Mac wedges, and by the end of the round had to hit his 565's also. Butter.... Read some reviews that night and had a brand new set with the stiff Rifle lites in my hands three days later for $250 off ebay.

A pro I play with has been harping on me about getting new sticks for a while. He was right. I've played a set of older Hagen irons for years, and although they are virtually unheard of (don't even exist on the pga equipment value guide), they are a solid club. Except when I'm not. I play year round in Oregon, and when the weather is cold and wet, I had more miss hits, and lost a lot of distance and accuracy. I went out today (round 2 with these clubs) in a cold steady rain and was longer and straighter than I've been since last fall. Hit the 8 to 3 feet on a 157 yard par 3 into a steady breeze, where last week it would have taken a 6.

As some others have said, the top line is a little thick, but it still has a real nice look at set up with the reduced offset. I've found them easy to draw and hit straight, but will take some work to learn to fade them consistently. Only real problem I see is learning to punch them into the wind. These things jump off the face and fly high. It's hard to imagine a better club value for anyone above a scratch.

The MacGregor M565 Vfoil forged Mid sized game improvement irons in steel shafts are the best irons I've ever hit in my 40 plus years of golfing. I've been a solid 3 hdcp in my 20's and as responsibilities and age have caught up with me now play to an 11hdcp. I'm one club longer withe these than my previous TA7's and Ping Zings. Most solid feeling iron I've ever hit. Just purchased them in Graphite as my hands were beginning to hurt after a round, since I've used graphite for many years. The steels will go to a good friend of mine.

I play the Mac's 565 by default, having bought a set of Mizuno MX 900, that I really wanted to love, I found the wide soles on the 5,6 & 7 iron just too much for my taste...and turned my attention to the Mac 565's, to say I was shocked is an understatement, this set of clubs are superbly made by MacGregor, YS Design graphite low kick shafts, a ball flight to die for, being forged they have excellent feel, and to boot they are very forgiving and at least 1 club longer.
Also, on ebay they can be had a great price brand new, so my advice is before you go and pay the big bucks for something like the Mizuno's MX 900 or anything else for that matter, do youself a favour if you are in the market for a set of forgiving quality irons, with low offset, then give the Mac's a try, you wont regret it, I promise you that.

Customer Service

Excellent, even although this is a slightly older model, MacGregor email back to give me the lofts, that was followed up by Graphite Design emailing the torque, weight and kick point of the graphite shaft

I purchased these irons in November 2006 to replace a set of Tommy Armour clones that were approximately 15 years old. Oh My – what a difference! These irons are amazing! I was on a tight budget and I thought I was just buying these because they were a great deal. Now I have compared them to many other irons and I wouldn't give these up for any club on the market.

The thick sole exudes confidence at address. These irons are long, straight and consistent. I got my set with the Rifle steel shafts in regular flex. I'm using 1 ½ to 2 clubs less than I used to. And the biggest difference – I rarely hit the 4 iron and didn't even carry the 3 iron from my previous set. I had planned to purchase some hybrids to replace my long irons, but I figured I'd give these a try first. Well I must say that the MacGregor M565 3 iron is now one of the favorite clubs in my bag. I can consistently hit this club 195-200 yards and straight and I no longer need a 5 wood. My next purchase is the 16 and 19 degree MacGregor Go-Long hybrids, after which I may retire my 3 wood as well. Pretty amazing for a guy who was considering replacing all irons over a 5 with woods or wood-like hybrids not too long ago.

I have played about 10 rounds with these irons and have shaved 6-8 strokes off my average round. Now if they could only help me with my putting...

Golfetail on ebay is still offering these clubs at smoking low prices. Check them out and you won't be sorry.
