I rarely review products but this set of irons definitely warrants one, simply put this is the best iron I have ever played with. I have tried quite a few, mizunos (mx 23, mp33), callaways(x16), ping (G2s), cleveland(Cg4), and the cobras are the by far the longest and most forgiving. Couple these with a Hibore Xl or TM Burner and your long game is set. Honestly if you cant hit these, you should pick up another sport..

I figured I should post a review since I have used this site many times to see how the newer equipment is woriking for different handicapped players.
Now that I have played the S9's for about 3 months I have to say they were a great purchase for me. I was looking for a set of irons that were not too demanding seeing I don't get to practice as much as I use to. I like the feel of these irons and they produce a nice high ball flight that just want to go straight. You can take a nice easy swing with these and with the higher lofts you will get the distance. You might want to keep the long irons in these too as they are easy to hit. If your looking for a nice feeling, forgiving club with good distance, do yourself a favor and demo this club.

Freddie these are the real deal. Feel like forged. Playing graphite regular. Am a good iron player (learned to play on 7.0 Ram featherlight blades) and have played everything. Just came back from Ireland where I played TM r7 draws. NO COMPARISON. Thin topline for a big iron, can swing them easy and get great distance. First set of irons in a long time with consistent quarter size impact in the middle of the club face, since I am swinging easier with the same distance as when I used to jump on it. The graphite plays true as steel. 14 handicap, 55 years old, swing speed with driver 88-92.

in the beginning i was worried.. i thought it was a big waste of money. i put more time on the range and started to hit it straighter and longer. these clubs are good for any shot you want to play draw or fade.

I was amazed after I walked off the course after playing these sticks on 9 holes. Can't wait to use them again. I've tried different golf related products that are overhyped and have always walked off the course let down. I honestly didn't expect these clbus to help my game as much as they did. They definitely exceeded my expectations. Clubs play well even on off center hits and drop the ball nicely on greens. Sticking the greens is what has helped me the most with these clubs. Love the ball trajectory. I thought the standard flex steel shaft seemed a little soft. After playing them the shaft stiffness didn't seem to be an issue.

(Clubs play about 1.5 club lengths stronger than my old clubs.)

I've been playing Mizuno MX23's for about five years. Since my practice time has decreased steadily I came to the conclusion that, to keep my index at around 10.0 I either had to practice more with the Mizunos or get a set of super game improvement irons. I chose the later and just got the Cobra S9's with graphite shafts. I've played two rounds so far and love em! Very easy to hit, good ball flight and not to thick a top line at address. I almost got the Ping G5's, but liked the Cobras a little better. I'll take a little ribbing from my friends about the graphite shafts, but I just turned 60 so I figure I have an excuse.

I turned 60 last month and decided that I could now purchase super game improvement irons with graphite shafts and not take too much grief from my playing partners! I had played Mizuno MX23's for about 5 years and enjoyed them, but I don't practice much and faced a choice: either practice more and keep the Mizuno irons or get something easier to hit. I've had these for a week and love em! They are so easy to hit I feel like I'm cheating. Sice thy are 2 degrees stronger than the Mizunos and much lighter, all you have to do is take a nice easy swing and the ball get's up in the air easily and with no loss of distance.
I played a round with the Ping G5 and was ready to get those until I tried the Cobra S5's. I liked the Cobras a little better and they are less expensive.
Bottom line...my partners may insist I play from the red tees now, but I still have they're money in my pocket!

Cobra S9 graphite reg flex g-5iron + 4 hybrid

firstly they let me customize my purchase. Got rid of the 4-iron and adding the 4 hybrid. The hybrid is very long, easy to hit

These irons are a pleasure to hit. Execellence in a game-improvement iron. LONG and accurate. Lofts are strong. I'm hitting the gap wedge about 115-110 yds (carry). Offline/poor shots are maybe 10 yds shorter--the irons behavior on poor shots is what makes them great: not a lot of dispersion (unless of course you put a terrible swing). 6 and 5 irons are easy to hit. I have played a graphite shaft for 5 yrs now hence I wanted to stay with grahite. These shafts are quite light, only 55 grams. Felt no fatigue at all late in my rounds. If you have a nice tempo smooth swing and are looking for a game improvement iron--you will not be disappointed.

I have been a longtime lurker, felt the need to share my experience with these clubs.

nt--becouse the lofts are strong, you'll have to hit the range and work on your new distances (at least this was my experience). I'm a full club longer.

My club had a demo day a few weeks ago and I took the day off and hit almost everything on the market today. I loved the Ping i5's, the Callaway X-20's and the Cobra S9's. The Cobra's gave me a lot more confidence at address than the others. More importantly, as some of the other reviewers have pointed out, these clubs feel GREAT! As good as forged.

I am currently playing Mizuno MP 60's and the S9's are superior in feel (in my opinion). Also - I just don't have the time any more to work at making the MP 60's sing. It's my opinion that hitting a club like the MP 60's or blades requires a lot more time to perfect than say hitting the S9's. Of course the S9's don't swing for you - but it's pretty damn close!

Trust me when I say I didn't want to like these clubs. These are the clubs my Dad hits - but there was no denying it - these clubs are rediculously easy to hit. The go long, straight and feel great.

It brings me back a few years when all the single digit handicap players (like me) - couldn't bring themselves to hit a 460cc Driver. Now look at things! It's rare to see someone hit anything else BUT a 460cc Driver! And now square headed drivers to boot!

I think we're heading that same way with irons too. Bigger - easier to hit.

Customer Service

Bought from Edwin Watts. No complaints. They take trades....what more could you want?

I have demo'd these side by side with a number of clubs including Callaway Fusions (widesole ane regular fusion), Ping Raptures, Cleveland CG4 etc. First let me say these are a very good club, you get plenty of technology a nicely matched steel or graphite shaft and comfortable enough grips. Contrary to other reviewers here (maybe becuase I did not buy them, we always seem to like what we buy more that what we don't) I think they are a very good club, but not a great club. Shot dispersion is only average and the same is true for distance. They are as forgiving as many ultra game improvement club but overall I would place them only in the middle of the pack in this category. They're new, they're sexy but side by side with other top notch clubs in this category they rate a par not a birdie. For the money they are still a good choice but don't overlook others game improvement clubs at this price range like the Cleveland CG4's, the slightly less expensive Cobra F9's, and the Adams Idea A2's.

Customer Service

Cobra customer service is solid but still lags behind others such as Ping and Callaway.
