Cleveland TA7 Irons

Cleveland TA7 Irons

DESCRIPTION

The New TA7 all ability clubs from Cleveland Golf feature Micro-Cavities. This patented technology lightens the top line and lowers the center of gravity, moving more weight to the perimeter of the clubhead, providing exceptional feel. The shape of the TA7 incorporates a conventional game-improvement face depth with modern heel-to-toe blade length, creating an extremely large hitting area. The TA7 also features a progressive offset, the patented Vibration Absorbing System, and a high energy finish.

These clubs are the real deal. I've been using the Callaway X-14's for about 4 years now. I really love them, but like any other equipment junkie, the "what if there's a better iron out there" curiosity made me to search for new irons. Believe me, I researched a LOT. But to make a long story short, I went out and bought the Taylormade OS irons. I took it to the range but didn't fall in love with them. They're great irons but the head just looked too big and the sound it makes at contact was not so sweet. Also the grips on the OS irons are crap. I came onto this site and found that the TA7's got a higher overall rating than the OS so I exchanged them for the TA7's. First shot at the range, fell in love. The club feels so solid at impact. The head design is perfect at setup and the sound of a sweet shot is perfect. Every shot I hit was just pure nectar. The trajectory is also very nice and the distance is up too. I can work the ball both ways also. I would highly recommend these irons. I'm a huge fan of the X-14's also but these just look and perform better. I've been a Callaway guy all my life, but now I'm transitioning to Cleveland. I recently switched to the Launcher 400 from the Callaway GBB II in the bag and it ROCKS!!! Kudos to Cleveland!!!

I bought the TA7 for there consistancy and forgivingness. Ball flight into the wind balloons. After speaking with cleveland I learned that this is the tendency of the standard equiped true temper "Release" shaft. I suggest ordering the optional dynamic gold shafts

I have been playing for only 3 months but have really gotten into the game in all aspects (driving range and putting every other day). I figured that if I wanted to be consistent I would need a set of my own clubs (mine were borrowed). I went to the local golf shop and tried out several clubs. I did like the new Ping G2 and I3+ (about the only clubs I did like were the Pings and Cleveland) very solid hit, the guy was pushing me towards the Mizuno MX11 which I did not care for at all. I said I wanted something for a beginner but a fast learner. He basically told me that the Cleveland's which I was knocking the crap out of and feeling very solid every swing were going to be too much club for me. Needless to say, I wanted the TA5's that I was hitting but they were priced a little too high $550 so I went and did my research checked out this site and others and finally started doing some severe eBay scouring. I had a set rated 9/10 of TA7's Stiff sensicore shafts show up for $350 and I quickly paid for them and got them shipped to me. On the driving range when I make a nice solid swing at the ball I am not more than 0-5 degrees off no matter how hard or messy I swing. Very solid feel at impact and I get no more than 10 feet away from the pin consistently from 80 yards away with the PW. Be careful with the PW you do not have to swing hard to knock it, best hit was 120-130 yards. I think these clubs will make my time and effort more rewarding and I am sure I will have this set for a few years. Thank you guys for making the decision easier!

This is my first season playing golf. I purchased a set of Dunlop oversized for my first set of clubs and quickly outgrew them. I went to my local golf store to purchase a better set of clubs. I tested the 6 iron consisting of the Callaway x16, Adams A1, Mizuno MX – 23, and the Cleveland TA – 7. The Callaway felt great but was quickly eliminated due to the fact that the average distance was nearly 50 yards shorter than any of the others. The Adams did not have a good feel and I did not hit them any better than my current clubs. The plus of the Adams was the utility club that is included in the set rocks and I did purchase it separate. It came down to the Mizuno and the Cleveland. The Mizuno felt great and hit very solid but was not a very forgiving club. So, I went with the Cleveland. The overall all feel of the club is awesome. The grip is very comfortable and the shaft feels solid. The way the head has been weighted makes the club effortless to swing. I repeatedly hit the 6 iron in the 180 to 185 range and the accuracy was consistent. The club had very good feedback and dampened the “Jarring” When I miss hit. My overall take on the clubs is to get them if you are a mid to high handicap such as me, but if you are a low handicap then I would recommend the Mizuno.

Customer Service

I needed a 1 inch extension with a 3 degree curve. This was special ordered from Cleveland. I ordered on Monday and had my clubs by Friday. That should tell you a lot.

Model Reviewed: cleveland TA-7 tour TT DG sensicore stiff

i just got back into the game recently (about a year and a half ago) and i discovered that i had absolutely no chance of hitting my dci 990's the way i used to. so i went out and got myself a set of cleveland TA-5 gunmetals, which were great for hitting the ball long and high. but as i started to groove my swing again, i found myself having trouble working the ball the way i wanted to, and since the demo day was coming up i decided to go for a custom set. i originally thought the TA-7's would be the club of choice, but was pleasantly surprised to find that they also had the TA-7 tour. what a dream to hit. if it's possible, it makes another subcategory of irons all its own. it's definitely a low-handicapper iron, with great feel and workability, but it doesn't have the dime-sized sweetspot that most player's clubs (blade/mb) have. they're actually reeeeeasonably forgiving on off-center hits. the other impressive thing about these clubs is that they don't require you to come up with all of your own distance. the clubs DO help, albeit a tiny bit. i would absolutely recommend these clubs to any low/mid (<14 or so) handicapper who's got a pretty grooved swing (i.e. you hit the sweetspot at least 75% of the time.) i would say if you can consistently work the ball in at least one flight pattern (extreme slice is not a flight pattern) then you should definitely check these clubs out before you buy anything else. results will range from pleasantly surprised to floored. cleveland just makes great stuff. i LOVE these clubs and now i'm already eyeing a set of the TA-2's.

Customer Service

the cleveland guys was great. really treated everyone there like a pro. (even the guy who never once hit a demo club down the target line.)

Wow! I have demoed virtually every club out there. I played TM320s for the past 2.5 years with good success. Since the idea of custom fitting has always appealed to me, I thought I would take a look when the Cleveland Tour Van came into town. I am in my early 40's and have started to take a realistic assessment of my game. While I would love to play Mizuno blades, I have a family/kids and cannot devote 5 days a week to practice. I liked the idea of a more forgiving (but still visually appealing) iron to make the game more enjoyable. I narrowed my search down to to TA7 Tour / TA7. Since I do not like allot of offset, I thought that the TA7 Tour would be my club. To my surprise, my ball flight and consistency were better with the TA7s. I was fitted for 2 degrees upright with the stiff sensicore shafts. The fact that this club sets up so nice (even with the offset) is a real confidence boost. I like to feel the clubhead at the end of the shaft and the D2 swing weight is perfect. I tried out the Ping i3+ Blade and while it was a wonderful club, it was too light for my tastes. Distance has been the same as my 320s, if not slightly better. This is to be expected since the TA7s are about 2 degrees stronger per club than the TM. In my opinion, the TA7 represents the most accurate, best feeling, and most forgiving iron out there right now. In fact, I have replaced my 7 wood with the TA7 3 iron. (It is that easy to hit.) I did not even carry the 3 iron with my 320s. The only obstacle I have had to overcome is my Pittsburgh roots.....I still take allot of abuse for wearing a Cleveland visor in Steeler Country! Good luck with your search and GET CUSTOM FITTED!! By the way, I love this web site. It has been a valuable resource for me. Thanks to everyone who has taken the time to leave a review!

Customer Service

Very helpful on the toll free line. I would not buy these clubs off the shelf unless you know your specs. The Cleveland Tour Van is the best thing since Microwave popcorn. Do not get custom fitted by swinging into a net in a golf shop. Watching the actual ball flight with each shaft/head option is the ONLY WAY to get properly fitted.

Cleveland is a diamond in the rough. Long known for excellent wedges, Cleveland is now making a name for itself in irons and woods. But their prices are still reasonable compared to the competition from the bigger name manufacturers (Titlesist, Callaway, etc.) I have been shopping for new irons for some time now and have seen and/or hit lots and lots of clubs. I have played custom Armour 855s for the last 10 years and have been happy,m but decided to see what new technology there is out there. From Cleveland's website, I noticed that their tech van was going to be at a local golf shop so I decided to go. They had every Cleveland club there to try. They also had custom fitting, and clubs made on the spot, which was perfect for me because I am 2 degrees upright and 1 inch over standard, stiff shafts. After hitting the proper demo and confirming my fit, I was sold. These irons are awesome. That is really all I can say. But everyone is different, so you should try as many clubs as you can before making the decision. Cleveland puts no pressure on you to buy, even after fitting you and letting you hit everything in their inventory. I decided to stick with the Sensicore stiff shafts and I didn't think they were too high trajectory-wise as other have said. I did, however, scrap the stock Cleveland tour velvet grips for mid-size tour wraps. No problem and no extra charge, but that was my personal preference. I also ended up buying the Launcher 400 10.5 degree driver with the Fujikara Vista 70 shaft. Since this an iron review, I won't get into how awesome this driver is. But Cleveland then threw in a 54 degree RGB 588 sand wedge, also custom made for me after my purchase. The Cleveland guys were great and my clubs were custom made in about an hour. While I waited, I re-visited all the other clubs just to make sure I got the right clubs. I did. If you are in the market for new clubs, please demo give Cleveland. They're not just wedges anymore.

Customer Service

The tech van crew was awesome. Have not dealt with anyone else there, but I am sure if you have a problem, they will take care of you.

Two weeks ago, i started testing different irons just to see what was out there...I was not planning on buying a new set (currently play with Callaway x-14s) use Cleveland driver and 3 wood ...but after hitting these at range quickly found out how straight these clubs are..only hit a few so-so shots, you could definitly feel when the shot was not crisp, but suprisingly they did not stray too far off line .(With the x14's all shot felt the same, recently had problems telling if face was square with x14's..)..Ta7's pretty easy to draw the ball, not as easy to fade...but straight is not too bad either. Good looking club, exuberates confidence at setup,...good luck to those who are looking...
