I love the TA5's! I got them for a great price, $360.00, brand new. My distance and accuracy improved from the first swing. I gained from 5-20 yards of extra distance, depending on the club. The clubs are extremely solid and forgiving with a huge sweet spot. The shafts, I bought stiff are great. One problem, the PW hits so much more solid than my old one i'm having to re-calibrate my short pitches.

I have been golfing for about three years now and have been improving at a fairly steady rate. I bought my irons last year and at the time they were right for me, i did not expect the type of shots then as I do now. Not to say that they are inaccuate because you can hit them close and off the tee they excellent. The only problem that I personally see with these clubs is that they have the amount of offset that they do and tend to draw the ball much more than I need it to. I also experience a extremely high trajectory which could be due to my swing or the club, most likely some of both, the club is also very light to help the beginners to not hit shots fat, but as a result of that the shots will be hit thin. The Irons are the best on the market for distance and if you love to hit knock down shots every iron in the set can do exactly what you want of it. This set was designed for the beginner but could be played by a good player who's weakness it their irons or someone who wants to get rid of their cut overall they are worth there money but if your game can develop more than it already has invest in something with less offset and more club weigh

Model Reviewed: TA5 stiff flex w/free bag

I am 13 years old and I love these irons!! I had the Taylor Made junior set.I am about 5 feet tall and dont know my swing speed. It's probably around 80-90. The junior Taylors had toomuch flex so I searched for new irons. I read previous reviews and decided the TA5s were cheep and a good value. I shot them at a Cleveland demo and loved them. I looked around for the cheepest price and found that at EBay. I got them in stiff and havent lost any yardage from the junior Taylors and have very good accuracy. I just cant hit the 3 iron. Yesterday I shot my 4 iron on the green from 150 and knocked it on!!! I also backed up my first shot with the pitching wedge!!! I reccomend anyone to buy them. Does any one have any good suggestions for a driver? I can not hit my junior driver sraight any more. I NEED A NEW MENS DRIVER THAT IS STRIGHT AND LONG TO REPLACE MY JUNIOR ONE! Need in stiff flex. Not over $200. Cant hit the Deep Red. I am planning to go on my local junior tour.

Model Reviewed: Cleveland TA-5 Gunmetal Irons, 3-PW w/SensiCore stiff shaft

Unlike many of the posters here, hitting in the 100s and 90s, I was less concerned about working the ball or getting more distance with my new TA-5 GunMetals than I was hitting them straighter than my previous set of Top Flite Tours. After receiving my clubs Thursday evening I went to the driving range last night (Friday) and started out pitching, chipping and bump and running for about 35 or so balls. And all went very, very well. Now it was time to see what these bad boys had...and it wasn't good. Not at first that is. After about 40 full swings of hooks, shanks, skulls, tops and nearly anything else you can come up with, except slices, with a better feel of the clubs it finally started to come together. I started hitting these clubs straight. Long and straight, but no longer than the cheese set they replaced (5 iron about 185). Straighter, though, without a doubt. That's what I was looking for. These clubs are fairly forgiving and when hit correctly feel like a knife through warm butter, even in 40 degree weather (thanks to the TT SensiCore shaft I guess). The Top Flites and Pings I've played with steel shafts in the past have never had the same sweet feel at contact as the TA-5s have. The bottom line on these clubs is, if you are a 15-25 handicapper you will, most likely, find yourself shooting in the high 70s or low 80s with some practice. I can say this with some confidence since I used to hit in the high 70s twelve or thirteen years ago and only recently picked up the game again.

So far so good. Got the answers I needed on how to care for the GunMetal finish by email the next day.

i absolutly love these irons, i upgraded from the tommy armour 845 silverscott's to the Cleveland TA-5 2002 model and there is not one similarty from looks to distance and feel. They are very forgiving and have great distance, leaving my old irons in the dust. I would recommended these irons from the advanced player to the beginner. They are very workable and the ball stops on a dime. You only need to try them once before you'll want them in your bag. Paided $450.00 and came with free cleveland bag.

I've used these clubs off and on for the past two years and still love them. I switch back and forth between these and the TA-3 gun metal. The TA-5's have a more solid feel, especially on mis-hits. Their trajectory is a little higher than the TA-3's, and the carry distance is 3-5 yards more. The TA-5's short irons are a little harder to finesse around the greens. Overall, a very good club for all levels of play. My son also is using the TA-5 gun metal and I've got my X-12's back (maybe I'll give them a try again).

Customer Service

No personal experience, but the asst. pro at my club has not had much luck with Cleveland service.

I'm selling my TA-5's, decided to buy new TA-7's. Only selling them because I want something new. 5's are a very easy to hit, forgiving iron. I think they are also a very good value. I bought my 5's about two years ago, when I started playing golf again. I've been playing for about twenty-two years, got pretty good in high school and just after (not good enough for a ride, though). Kind of lost interest, though. Before two years ago, the last round I played was in 1991. Anyway, I needed an iron that was easy to hit. Went to the golf shop, salesman tried to sell me a set of Callaways. Liked them, but way too much for my budget. Checked out the TA-5's. Price was reasonable ($399 with a nice bag thrown in. Needed one of those too). Very forgiving with decent feel. On the course, they're very straight with a high trajectory. Lofts are a little strong, so irons are longer than usual (at least from what I was used to). I would recommend them to any hdcp over 15 or anyone just looking for a really easy to hit iron. Clubs that are easy to hit straight and long make the game so much more fun.

Model Reviewed: TA5 GunMetal Sensicore Stiff

Hey, I've read lots of reviews on the TA5's, and I must say these are the best clubs I have ever played. (and i've played many) I first tried them at an outlet store in Alabama, hit about 30 shots, and I absolutely loved how the ball came off the club. They had the set priced at 499.00 but I knew I could get a good deal on eBay. Found many many sets under 400.00. I was playing on Taylor Made burners, S90 bubble shaft. I was hitting my 3 iron about 210 consitently, now my 4 iron is the 210-220 club. Now off the tee I can get my 3 iron out to 245 yds on a good day. 5 iron 190-210, vice 175-190. nuff said? Very forgiving, confidence booster. I would say these are the best cast irons on the market.

My Tommy Armour 845's were a trusty club to improve my game but I was ready for a true "Game Improvement Iron." After talking to people in the know about golf clubs, I looked into the TA-5's with the understanding they were "a good value." I found an excellent set online at Ebay and purchased them at near new condition at 40% below retail. I took them out to the range last night and had the most rewarding practice session ever. I am not sure if the gunmetal finish truly gives better feel, but the sensicore shaft makes true shots feel like heaven, mcuh better than the Mizunos and Pings I demoed. The dark finish did aide in my squaring my club face to the target and I can't argue that the sleek black finish looks hip and cutting edge. Right out of the box I was able to confidently hit my 3 Iron 10-15 yards longer than with my 845's. No gremlins in that club. In fact, I was hitting all my irons 1 club farther. The weighting of the club coaxed the club under the ball and up in the air. I got more results with less effort in my swing. I'm looking forward to playing my first round with them soon. I am not expecting to go out and shoot par with them, but after hitting them just once, I do expect to hit more penetrating long irons and higher, softer short irons. I tried many of the competitors and some classics, but found these to be the best all around for my middle handicap.
