X-12's steel shaft
I got these irons in the middle of the golf season my sophmore year in high school. At the time my swing was a little erratic and these clubs were of a great help, they helped straighten my shots out and also the higher trajectory helped me keep balls on the green. The clubs look great at address and are very well balanced. Since then my swing has gotten better and I have decided to switch to Titleist 990b's, which are blade irons that provide me with great feel and control of the ball. The Callaway irons are great for all handicaps, btu i think better for mid to high handicappers due to the fact that they are too forgiving (my mom was very confused when I told her i needed clubs that were harder to hit and are less forgiving.) For better players you may be better off going for a more blade like club for more control and feel. Nevertheless these clubs are very workable and are also fun to hit. I believe the newer X-14's are very similar with a little smaller topline so that the clubs look better at address. If you purchase these clubs I hope you enjoy them. Customer Service Due to previous experiences I would have to say that Callaway has probably the best customer service, even though I have not had a problem with the irons. The X-12 and the X-14 are one of the best and easiest irons to hit on the planet. They are actually about the same but the X-14 might look a little thinner on the top line and might edge out the X-12 in distance, but only by a few yards per iron. The feeling is so soft and smooth and you don't have to hack at the ball to make it fly or have a perfect swing to hit it on the spot. Golf will be fun if you keep it simple. Let the egoes who use blade irons suffer on the course! Similar Products Used: None |

Possibly the best irons I've ever played. You can work the ball, yet they are very forgiving. I gained 10-15 yards. Last set was Ray Cook Titan. Will play these until I die or win the Lotto!!! Customer Service Customer service very helpful with information on clubs. Similar Products Used: Played Wilsons, Pings, Titleist, and Ray Cook. These are the best! |

These Irons are simply the most consistent, forgiving, long, and workable I have ever used. The Constant Weight Rifle shafts are not marketing hype, they WORK. The feel of the 3 Iron and the 8 Iron are the same at address. Just position the ball, select the club, and swing. My handicap has dropped 10 strokes due to the consistent play of these irons, and birdie opportunities are expected on long par 4s and par 5s (my putting still needs a LOT of work). They are very good off the tee and from the rough, as well as from the fairway. These are as close to custom made clubs as I have ever had off the rack. Internet prices are around $700, an additional $50-$75 for buying from a pro shop. They are worth every penny!!! Customer Service Callaway Customer Service has been superb. After the purchase I had some questions about the shaft choices, since my swing speed is at the low end of the Stiff flex, and they bent over backwards to make sure that I was satisfied with my choice. Okay...I'm not a very good golfer but I've tried quite a few clubs out there during those demo days and these X-12's are the most forgiving. Better golfers may say that I don't know what I'm talking about but for those beginners out there...I sincerely recommend these to you guys. They go straight and far. It won't rattle your bones even on the off center hits. They are extremely shock absorbing. As a beginner, you play golf to have fun and that is exactly what these clubs give you...lots of FUN!!! As you get better maybe you'd like more challenging clubs (something like Mizuno MP14)but when you when you're a beginner like me you want as much help as you can get....especially from the equipment. I must complain though that they are a little too $$$$ !!! But if you don't like Callaways....I recommend the Mizuno T3 Ti! They came very close to what I was looking for...also very forgiving...I just didn't like the color. They're probably hard to find now....probably discontinued. I bought the X-12's half way through the golf season this year. These clubs are 2 clubs longer than anything I've used in the past. I was an 18 hncp. to start the season and am now at 12.3. I have even broke 80 twice for the first time since I started playing 4 years ago. These clubs are forgiving, long and straight. Perhaps a little pricy compared to other similar clubs. Highly recommended. Similar Products Used: None |

Excellent Irons! I could not be more pleased. I purchased them used over the net. They are the regular x-12 heads custom ordered with 7.0 frequency Constant Weight Rifles. The ball flight is excellent and control is unbeatable. Unless you have problems setting up with offset (i.e setting up closed) there is little performance difference between the two. I can fade or draw at will and control height. Also, I feel absolutely comfortable that the ball will fly well and land smack dead on the target everytime. Good distance control throughout the set too. Also, head is not too big for shots around the greens.
