I have been playing these irons for nearly three years and occasionally play a set of Taylor Made Super Steels. Without a doubt these are very forgiving irons and I realize now that they really do prevent fat shots from occuring. They also prevent twisting too. These irons can be worked both ways however, provided you put the correct swing together. Colin Montgomerie used these prior to signing on with Yonnex and I think I saw Camilo Villegas with a 3 iron in this model in his bag this weekend. There are tour pros that still use these if nothing more for long iron use. These irons also feel great and give that distinctive "ting" sound that's pretty cool. These irons just give loads of confidence. The trajectory is a little high on full shots, but that's okay because you can hit the low shot with these too. Now the distance is a little less than my TMs. I full club. Accuracy and forgiveness are more important in irons anyway, so based on this these clubs deserve a five. I'm a 12 handicap and would recommend these for 0-30. If Montgomerie and others played these irons they are good enough for me. To pick up a set go to callaypreowned.com or ebay. I have not hit the 04 models, but I did notice that on this website they are rated just slightly lower than the 02s. Good luck! |

These are by far the best irons that I have ever hit with. The are long and very forgiving. A new beginner would do well with these clubs along with someone that shoots in the 70's. A must if you are looking a great club to hit Customer Service Callaway stands behind their product Similar Products Used: taylormade RAC Precept |

Alright, here's my breakdown: Pro's: LOOOOOOOOOOOONNNG! Most forgiving clubs I've ever played. Nice looking. Enough spin and good out of rough. Con's: Lost the tiny circular ferrule on the 7 iron. No feel, like hitting the ball with foam. Offset drives me crazy. If you are a beginner or are just looking for more distance, try these. I love them, but I think I'm going to switch to a set with more feedback. Customer Service Callaway Golf Preowned has good prices and the service is excellent. 2002 Callaway Big Bertha Irons
With Thanksgiving just around the corner, the golf season is about over here in the in Midwest. And for most of this season, I've been playing the 2002 BBs with reg flex graphite. I got a great deal on them them in the spring, trading in a set of Wilson Deep Red IIs. My overall conclusion: They're forgiving, they're long, they feel great and they inspire confidence. In short, they can put a lot fun in your game. The makeup of the set, 4 through gap wedge, suits my game and is probably good for most hackers who have no business trying to hit a 3-iron. The large head, wide sole and deep cavity produce a high ball flight, which helps me land the ball more softly on the green. The loss of distance and accuracy on miss-hits is minimal, And when you nail a shot with these sticks, the feeling is sweet. The head and graphite shaft combination eliminate stingers and unwanted vibrations. The cosmetics of the club are striking. Large heads, thick top line, wide soles on every iron and a cavity so deep it's bigger than the glove box on some small cars. But they wear extremely well, clean up great and after only a couple of rounds I found them not only to be attractive but confidence-inspiring. In fact, the more I play these irons the more attractive they get. That's probably a direct function of their performance. In terms of comparisons, I've got a back-up set of used Mizuno X-15s and I've played Wilson Deep Reds and Cleveland TA-5s in recent years. All of these are solid clubs, well suited to the mid and high handicapper. However, the 2002 BBs are a cut above in feel, forgiveness and -- most importantly -- fun. Customer Service They're a service-oriented company. Similar Products Used: Wilson Deep Red, Mizuno MX-15, Cleveland TA-5. |

I demoed a set of these Bertha 2004's while on vacation in Pennsylvania. Oh man these things hit great. I said to myself, "Of course they hit great, they're oversized dummy clubs." Then I returned home and played the local course with my Titleists. I was totally missing the Berthas. Like a dumb-ass, I go down to the store and buy the Callaway X-16's instead of the Berthas because I can't allow myself to be seen with those wide soles and monster cavities. I play the X-16's for a bit and I'm pretty happy with them. I was much more consistent with the X-16's than I was with my Titleists. Then, while at the driving range one day with my X-16's, I see a lefty Bertha 2004 6 iron in the demo bag. Curious, I grab it and go to hit a few balls with it. I ended up hitting the rest of the bucket with just that one club. I knew that the 2004's was the clubs I really wanted. I'm a pretty decent golfer. I played yesterday for the first time in over 3 months and still shot an 86. I can shape a few different shots and have a fairly fast swing tempo. I have hit smaller clubs in the past with good success. However, the Berthas are just a phonominal set of irons. They hit pretty easy and work the ball well enough for us average golfers. The 2004's look killer and may be Callaway's best looking irons to date. Long irons hit just as easy as short irons. I can pitch greenside balls all day with the 10 iron and wedge. Man, I should have bought these earlier. My thoughs are, use whatever works for you. If you get a chance, try these irons out. They are so user friendly it'll make your head spin. Also, there are quite a few pros on the LPGA that are using these 2004's. They must know something about golf clubs. Although a little expensive, there are more expensive clubs out there. These fall in the mid-range price. Plus, these are built like tanks, I expect them to hold up very well. Customer Service never needed Similar Products Used: Titleist, Taylor made |

Hang your ego at the door and get a set of these. I've been torturing myself for the last 7 years playing blades. I stumbled onto these clubs while visiting my mother in Florida. The range provided me with a demo set. I was enjoying golf again. These clubs hit with ease. My set has the Uniflex steel shafts. Initially thought I would replace the shafts but they match up well with my 97-103mph swing speed. I'm not the best shot-shaper but I do hit a decent draw and knockdown. These shots are easy to do with the BB's. Distance control is excellent. The face has a large sweetspot and gets the ball up quick. I can't fault these clubs and I'm glad I made the sensible switch. If you're like me and only get at once or twice a week, these clubs will make a hard game a little easier. I use to think these clubs were for solely for high handicappers. If you have a decent swing, these clubs can really give you an edge. Customer Service Haven't needed Similar Products Used: Taylor Burner, Mizuno blades, Titleist blades |

I just bought the whole set after using a #6 for about a month. I was sampling irons to get an idea of what I wanted to buy. I bought the BB 2002 6 iron in a mixed bag a month ago. i've been at the range 4 times a week since and have been hitting that ball straight and true... I'm no expert but I love the way it has made it so much easier for me to swing with confidence. Its very very very straight. Loving it. The only downside was that it was rather Ugly at Address. Bit chunky. But its really really pretty (in my eyes) in a Bag. I bought my set from the manufacturer pre-owned site. Its so super cheap! Get one. These irons are very forgiving. The wide soles cause no problems. They have a nice crisp feel when struck on the sweet spot. The distance is good and maybe a little longer on the short irons when compared to the Ping G2s I used to hit. Similar Products Used: Ping G2, Mizuno 20, 23, 30, 33, Nike NDS |

2002 Callaway Big Bertha Irons
After reading all 59 reviews posted here I decided to trade in my Callaway Hawkeyes for a set of 2002 Big Berthas. I received them yesterday and was only able to play 9 holes before dark. I shot a 38 on the front 9....that's 6 strokes better than I have ever shot for 9 holes! Will it ever happen again.....maybe not but these clubs gave a me real confidence boost when addressing the ball. I actually hit a 4 iron 2nd shot onto a par 4 green, which may not mean a lot to someone with an 8 HCP. But for a 50 year old man with a 19 HCP it means a lot. I had to move back 2 clubs because I hit these farther. Absolutely the best irons that I have ever hit. Customer Service Fantastic Similar Products Used: Ping Zing, Callaway Hawkeye, Accusteel |
