I recently reshafted with rifle 6.5 tour flighted. The best feeling, most accurate club I have ever played! They are also one of the most beautiful clubs next to my 2nd set of golfsmith forged blades. Excellent club!!!

Model Reviewed: Hogan Apex and Apex Plus

I ordered a mixed set of Hogan Apex irons. The 3, 4 and 5 in the Apex Plus and the remainder in the Apex blade. The shaft is the Apex #4. These are the most beautiful irons I have ever seen. The performance is equally as good. If you have the ability to manufacture various shots, these clubs will get the job done. The feel is so soft and solid. No cast club I've ever tried can come close to their feel. The ball flight is a little higher on normal shots than what I had before (possibly because of the low kick point of the shaft), but certainly not too high. The distance is the same as with the irons I had before. I don't think the blades are as unforgiving as some people might think. Most of the time the grass stain is right in the center of the face. Do yourself a favor and try either of these clubs regardless of your handicap.

Everybody was talking about them so I had to give them a try, and the verdict is B+. Good performance but lacking in the feedback catagory. If you want the real thing MIZUNO MP 14 is still king

After years of trying all the new high-tech irons I'm finally back home to pure blades. When I played college golf I had a set of Hogan blades that won me several tournaments. The newest edition from the Ben Hogan company continues the tradition with the 1999 model. Like the commercial says, if you want to know what a good golf shot feels like, these are the clubs to play. I've tried almost every type of club on the market over the past twenty years and I think my search is over. I just wish I had been smarter twenty years ago! I've only got two years until I can try the Senior Tour and I'm going to be ready with these clubs!

I had played the same set of Lynx parallex irons for my ten years of golf and was told that blades are for scratch golfers and players of my ability (11 wacks a round) should stick to offset,cast-cavity backs. This is one of the biggest fallacies in golf!! In retrospect i now see that the hacks telling you this are perimeter weighted playing wood-choppers who tried out blades and their swing is so weak they can't hit real players club. I enjoy working the ball and with the apex irons subtle adjustments are all that is needed to hit neck fades, knockdowns, low trappers and high cutters. Obviously feedback and feel are premium. I highly recommend these weapons to anyone who wants to hit golf "shots". I will never, ever play a perimeter-weighted iron again. My new mantra is benhogan, benhogan, benhogan. Now if I could only find a driver that felt like these irons......

Absolutely the finest workmanship of any club on the market today.
I have a set of Titleist 681 Forged irons and the quality is not as good as my Apex's !!
These clubs are long and straight if you have the game. Not recommended for anyone that shoots in the 80's or higher. I have played 3 rounds since buying these clubs and my highest score has been 69. I highly recommend these clubs to all low handicap golfers

These are sweet. Great for knockdowns and an excellent feel. They are perhaps 1/2 club short on distance. Great forgings; not quite the feel of the old Ram Fx/Golden Ram blades, but close.

Simply the best irons I've ever seen, heard and felt. I just re-shafted them with Rifle 6.2s from the original Apex 4s and I cannot tell you how different, and much better they feel. I'm almost kissed my club tech for re-fitting me after 8mos of solid weight training and gains.

Keep em' in the short grass and keep your 2-Iron sharp!

I was playing Apex PCs, which I bought used for $200. Maybe it was the shafts, but I tried to play the 99's for 3 weeks, and I couldn't get the feel for them. Everything felt as hard as a rock. I went back to the PCs and was shooting lights out like I never set them down. Recently bought the MP-33, which has an S300 shaft, and they are the bomb. Picked em up and never missed a beat. Plays like the PC but much more solid in the long irons. If you are expecting the new Apex to be like your old ones, think again. I recommend that anyone thinking about buying the new Apex should try the mizuno before spending the money, or buy them from a shop that will take them back on exchange.
