I jsut got these club a few days ago and i absolutely love them. Its just point and shoot. I hit them better than my old Cleveland Ta588p. Even though they are blades they are forgiving.

AMAZING - I bought these clubs off EBAY from an American seller. I got the for just under $400, which at the time equated to around £190. With shipping they cost me under £400. In the UK they will normally retail for around £800 - So I got a BARGAIN. The clubs are superb. This may sound ridiculous but they are so accurate it is beyond amazing. My scores have dropped by huge ammounts since using them. With my shots into the green, even if I don't hit the green I am very close, which may leave a chip and putt. Although they are blades, if you do happen to hit a duff one they are very forgiving. My duff shot will normally be a thin. The ball will still got miles just low to the ground. When you do catch them sweet get ready for the best feeling ever. It feels like you hardly hit the ball, yet it goes forever. I cannot reccomend these clubs enough. The only thing against them is the price. I do not know many 18-20 handicapp players who would part with £800 for a set of irons. If they did it would surely improve there game

This is a follow up review after playing these irons for about 8 months.
My goal was to gain more control/accuracy with my irons and improve my swing for the long haul. Mission accomplished!

In my first review (based on 2 rounds) I was in love with these clubs. I now have 22 rounds with them and I can honestly say I love them even more. Prior to getting these irons I had only broken 90 one time.
Since then I have broken 90 SEVEN times and NONE of my 90+ rounds were because of my irons! Either my driving, chipping or putting were the issue in those rounds.
I have dropped my handicap from 27.3 to 17.1 in a very short period. I was concerned that after the winter layoffg I would have to relearn these irons . The opposite happened! I'm hitting these clubs a full club longer and more accurately than when I was last fall. That proves to me that I have improved my swing for the long haul.
Now to the nitty gritty.
FEEL - Balance, weight and feel-still incredible.
LOOKS - fantastic in the bag as well as over the ball.
CONTROL - Work the ball left, right, high or low on demand.
FORGIVENESS - there is some there, but they are a blade so I don't expect much. What I DO EXPECT is to hit the sweet spot more. These irons defintely provide rewards of what a forged blade can teach you.

The only comment to those that play forged clubs. It is well worth investing in covers for them, they will ding easily by banging around in the bag. I have used covers on them since I got them and they still look like the day I got them. Take care of them and they will take care of you.

First off, i have a 4 handicap. I got these irons used for a good price. I got decade multi-compound grips from golf pride on them. The lie, and lofts are standard, but the set (3-pw) is a half-inch short. I have apex 4 steel shafts in them at the moment. I could use something slightly stiffer since these seem weaker than many other stiff shafts. These irons are somewhat consistent, if your not a good ball striker, do not play them. Also if you have a slower swing speed these might not be the irons for you. Many people say that these irons have a high trajectory, yes because the lofts are weaker than most irons, but if your playing blades you should be able to conrol trajectory. Easy to work the ball, minimal offset to ensure consistent trajectory. These irons and the mizuno mp 37 irons are the only irons at the moment i will play. Distance, stayed about the same as my old irons, can control with shorter irons. 5 iron = 200 yds. consistently.

Titlist 690MB, very low ball flight, not very soft for being forged. Mizuno mp37, very nice irons, soft, long. Mizuno mp32, too soft, tended to hit a slight hook with all of them. Ping s59, too much offset. Taylormade TP, liked, but way too expensive. Nike forged, feel like mizuno mp37, but wont play because they are nike. Cleveland, CG1, to wide of a sole for a blade. Callaway x-tour, too wide of sole, not even blades.

Bought these with 6.5 rifle shafts in and 1 inch longer, these irons are the softest, nicest feeling irons i have ever used they feel solid at impact and you get good feedback from them too, have changed the three iron for a cft 3 hybrid also by ben hogan which has made some tee shots easier, they are also very accurate irons like the if you pick the 7 iron down you can take dead aim at the pin and it wont be far away, all in all they are a superb set and are recommeneded if anyone can find them now.

well first off, I shoot high seventies, low eighties, first set of blades, wonderful feel when you hit them right, horrible feel when you don't, which is good if you're searching for that illusive "next level", very easy to work the ball with, fades, draws, low, high, good to chip with small clubs instead of huge, disgusting cavity backed irons great irons(tad expensive)

It's been a long road to find irons that I really love. Last year I moved to forged in order to get more control of my iron play(Mizuno Grad MP & MacGregor VIP 1025M). Long story but ended up with a set of 1999 Hogan Apex irons and I absolutely love them. I've played 2 rounds with these and agree with other reviewers that these are point and shoot! The balance, weight and feel are incredible. Looks are fantastic in the bag as well as when you're over the ball. These irons defintely provide rewards of what a forged balde can teach you. All sorts of shots possble now and the consistency is the BEST I've found. I've gained 1/2 a club in distance & 500% in accuracy. Looks - beautiful Feel - incredible Control - workability Distance - consistent Quality - A+++++++

Very pretty clubs. They give you a lot of control (that is, they go where you actually hit them, warts and all). Well balanced, though heavier than say Mizuno MX20. I can see that, in the right hands, they would be brilliant. I practice with these but play with some OS TaylorMades. When my swing is more 'grooved', I'll stay with the Apexs.

After replacing the Hogan shafts for Apollo shafts, the clubs play heavenly. The accuracy of the clubs are outstanding, the distance is on par,and the feel is soft, yet not as soft as the Mizuno MP-14. The first time after having the shafts replaced I shot a 74.

Not a set of golf clubs for everyone. Without a good and consistant swing, these clubs will not only make your game more frustrated, but also adds more strokes to your score. I have the complete iron set, from 1-E, SW. All in Stiff Steel Shaft. 1 iron has now become an excellent training tool for my swing. If you can handle that one, you can handle pretty much all the golf clubs on the market.
