Upon taking up these new clubs, I was astounded at the way they felt, in more respect to the after shot non shock like some irons I have used. Was a staunch Calloway user - Big Bertha, however now will look to moving on to these. Borrowed a friends set and have seen a vast improvement of my game. In more particular my distance and control. I always thought the "Blade " were for pros or the like - thiner type of club, I was wrong. These will now help me get to a single handicap-- 3 to go. Customer Service Hogan should be commended on this style of club and technology Similar Products Used: Calloway - no more! |

BEAUTIFUL,EYE CATCHING IRONS. WHEN MY SWING IS CORRECT THESE IRONS ROCK ! WHEN I BOUGHT THESE IRONS I WAS A 22 HNDCP. [AT ONE TIME I WAS A 10] AFTER THE FIRST 3 ROUNDS I REALLY GOT BUSY WITH THE PRACTICE RANGE. WITH EVERY BUCKET I WAS FINDING SOMETHING NEW. I WAS SO TAKEN BY MY NEW LEARNING CURVE THAT ONCE AGAIN I BECAME A STUDENT OF THE GAME. GRIP PRESSURE,COURSE MANAGEMENT,GREENS READING, SWING SET UP,BALL FLIGHT,YOU NAME IT. ONCE AGAIN I BECAME A SPONGE FOR KNOWLEDGE ABOUT A GAME THAT CAN'T BE WON. ALL BECAUSE OF 8 NEW IRONS BOUGHT AT A DISCOUNT.ON A WHIM. I HAVE NEVER BEEN ABLE TO PUT UP WITH THE LATEST GREATEST GAME IMPROVING IRONS. HECK I CAN'T EVEN HIT OFFSET CLUBS. I FEEL LIKE I'M SWINGING A BASEBALL BAT INTO A BAG OF SAND. I'VE ONLY OWNED 2 CAST SETS[TOMMY ARMOUR AND MAX-FLY]. I ALWAYS WENT BACK TO FORGED IRONS [FX-2,YONEX,MACGREGOR,WILSON] AND MORE. ALL USED CLUBS. BUT I ALWAYS LIKED THE LOOK OF HOGAN BLADES. SO AT 229.00 BRAND NEW I JUMPED ON THEM [SHOULD'A GOT 2 SETS].

Apex 3-E Stiff
I originally bought these on eBay because I wanted an inexpensive quality blade for practice. Then I got buyers remorse because these had the Apex 4 (stiff) shafts and I was accustomed to regular flex. To my amazement and utter satisfaction I found these to be deadly accurate and much easier to hit on the sweet spot than anticipated. I may actually play these rather than just practicing. Sweet for the money! Similar Products Used: Titleist 704.CB, Ping S-58, Mizuno MP-29, Mizuno MP-57 |

I like most things about these Hogan blades with the exception being the shafts. First off the irons are forgiving with a bit of offset and slightly larger heads than other blades I've played. I've played both the steel and graphite Apex 3 shafts. I do not like the iron shafts at all and suggest a different type than the Apex steel. The graphites are nice but not light feeling as things go. The feel is just right and maybe a notch below Mizunos. I know where I've hit each shot before even seeing the distance. Looks wise they are beautiful and among the finest. Overall with other shafts you can't go wrong with these. I have played others with less and more offset in blades. Nice topline and cambered soles keep from digging. With different shafts these are a 5 star set of irons no doubt about it. The steel Apex shafts are boardy and tough to get height with. Have played previous Hogans than these 2006 ones and these can be totally user friendly. If you check into shaft options these will be keepers. Customer Service Not needed. Ben Hogan Apex with Apex 4 shafts
THis past year i really dedicated myself to finding the right irons for me , i started out with spalding stainless steel vintage set i bought on ebay,at the time, equal to my game , irons good game bad , went to macgregor jtp custom set, off golf galaxy , not bad nothing major better, then traded those in for mp32, from a 100 yrds out , hit with the pitching wedge money on the green, liked the balance and feel of the mp32, kept hitting little to the left, got bold sold those on ebay, got me mp 37, very good club just wasnt making the contact like the mp 32 , was missing the mp 32, then went to golf galaxy, got me the apex muscle back blades brand for 299, really liked the look and hit them on the practice tee there , had to have them, felt really good, started wondering to myself why was i hitting them better then mp37 , mp 37 supppose to be the bomb, lined my apex and mp37 side by side , notice the mp37 had a more upright lie to them , thinking to myself maybe thats why i was pushing left, went to the golf course and boom, apex felt smooth, controlled, when you hit them on , they pop drop and stop on the green , amazing, when im pitching , or my short irons, on a one bounce im equal to the pin , guys were shouting that boy can chip, felt confident with these clubs like no other, the shafts seems a little less solid then the dynamic golds s300 on my mp37 like if you tap on them but they always delivered better then the dg s300 , the apex 4 shaft on the ben hogans are frequency matched which is a must have, there smooth look awesome , and really confident inspriing, buy them, they well help u get better since you have to work on precision, and the effort to be precise only makes you get better, to me cavity backs makes you have lazy habits, i need to get club fitted, i really need to get my lie adjusted also, not only for my hogan apex blades but for the mp 37 also then i feel both irons would deliver very well , hope this helped and good golfing . So if your having trouble with the direction of your shots i would really recommend getting fitted and also really check your lies on the club they may not fit your natural swing . |

i got set of ben hogan apex in second hand, guess what?when u touch those clubs, immedeatly feel one word "guality",if some club could be called calssic, those clubs r.like titleist 670MB ,FANANLY i star feel my ball club and ping haf some connection .if u hit 10 shoots, the target zone could not of over 7 yards(my swing speed change not over 3mph in average),if my standard 7 iron swing is 170yards,use those clubs r 160 yards but i can and just my swing speed to hit 155 or 165 yards, and total control the back sping of the ball.those r amazing clubs.and every time u hit the ball solid,u feel that little soft feeling .of couse those club r not hit far than other club or fancy shafts, but u can DOMINATE ur ball in the course, thats what i want.and my computer analyse proof i am right.i use TrackMan™ and fullswing golf simulator in my a golf learning center, the date show those clubs work fantasitcally. I just traded my MP-37's for these clubs. These clubs are the heaviest blades i have ever seen (nike is the lightest). Right away you get a sence of quality. The hogan blades are very predictable. It seems like every club has a standard trajectory and distance to it. but there is still a lot of room for working the ball withing those parameters of each club. Compared to the Mizunos, there is no feel at all. When u hit the sweet spot, you literaly don't feel the ball coming off the clubface. At first i thought that was not good but now i think its much better because the sensation is that the club is doing the work. Now i am much more consistent. With my mizunos, a fade could move 5-20 feet in the air, but with the hogan blades my fade moves 5-10 feet at most. Overall i have to say that if you are looking for complete control of the ball then mizunos or nike blades would be better, but if you are looking for consistency then these are the clubs for the job. Also i have seen reviews with negative comments about the shafts...well the shafts do feel a bit softer but i think thats becuase of trajectory specs. In my opinion the shafts are much better than standard. I still have not gotten over my mizunos, but i am very happy with these clubs and i can already see my scores improving. Hope this helps.
