These clubs looked like new except the grips were hardened with age. Had them regripped with Golfpride and boy are they sweet. First time with a forged club but I can hit them. Not very forgiving but really teaches you to hit properly. Formerly played with EVO and Cobra. Will never go back to a cast club!

Although I'm not a scratch player, blades help learn striking without hiding the feedback. The Hogans are excellent in workmanship, matching, and the apex shaft is great, just make sure you select them stiff enough.

These are great clubs, I got the shot workability I needed, a solid feel, and they are just beautiful clubs. If you are an advanced golfer you need these clubs.

Up until recently, I had been using the 1988 Hogan Apexs for a number of years, and they were very good clubs. The 1998 model is much nicer looking, however, blending visual cues (lines on the back) from both the '88 Apexs and the '94 model. The result is one of the most beautiful clubs in golf. Feel/feedback is superb and the trajectory is nice and high. Slight offset. My only complaint is that the topline is too thick, but I'm sure this wouldn't enter into the mind of most people. The closest competitor to these would have to be the Mizuno MP-14s, which also have a slight offset and (I believe) the exact same lofts. The MP-14s, however, are Grain Flow Forged, which is supposed to result in a better steel consistency.

The Apex line of irons has long held the reputation for quality. My experience with my Apex PC's has been nothing short of outstanding. These irons are very solid at impact and deliver terrific feel and feedback. Mis-hits are not penalized as much as I had feared; hit it pure, and it's like nothing else I've hit before. Not as forgiving as the typical cavity back, but the feedback will help you fix your swing flaws rather than simply disguising them. Recommended for anyone who is at least a decent ball striker and wishes to take their ball striking to the next level. These irons can be found (used) on internet auctions anywhere from $150.00 to $250.00, depending of course on their condition, they're worth every penny!

Been using the previous Apex model for the past 6 years. Absolute top-notch quality. Even the grips are going strong. The feel of these irons are PURE! Like a hot knife cutting thru butter. I've tried Wilson, Mizuno, Titleist blades. The Apex's blow them all away.

Have the '94 apex irons; they are NICE. Just got them earlier this year, switching from a set of Maxfli Tour Forged. Sweet spot is smaller, but I've never been able to ""work"" the ball like I can with these.

Used to play with a set of Mizuno MP11. I really enjoy playing with blades much more than cavity backs.
