These clubs where made in the 80s but I would have to say that they are just as good if not better than most of the newer forged blades out there today. Very consistant!!! Every iron seems to be custom made to perfection and if you have ever owned them you will know that every iron is uniquely different in its special way. Beautiful clubs. If you own and love them like I do please e-mail me...

One word: nice. Nothing wrong with these wonderful clubs. But, buyer beware if you don't hit the sweetspot consistently then get ready for a little bite back from these babys. But the reward with hitting these pure is unsurpased.

Outstanding set of irons. Just switched from an early model of Titleist DCIs. I have also played PING, Taylor Made and Kenneth Smith irons. These Hogans are truly unbelievable. The irons set up nice and the sweet spot isn't as small as you might think for forged irons. You can easily find this set on many of the auction sites for around $300.00. I will never buy another brand of irons.

I have played Hogans all of my life and have 13 sets of different Hogan Irons. The 99 Apex is the finest set of irons made in golf. From the frequency matched shafts, weight matching and springing of shafts, these are without a doubt the precision tuned irons available. Exceptional feel and shot shaping performance. This is what the best club in golf feels like. This is the best iron out there

Having made the move from forged to cast and back to forged irons I can tell you I'm here to stay. There is nothing like the feeling of hitting a good shot with a forged iron. It becomes one of golf's rewards that you give up with a cast club. The 1999 Apex is the best set of irons I've ever owned. They are a considerable improvement over the forged irons of the past. As with most forged irons today, the Hogans have a thicker top line which helps to bolster confidence at address. This plus plenty of muscle in the blade gives you the impression you are swinging an iron of substance instead of a knife at the end of the shaft. Center hits feel as you would expect from a forged iron...wonderful... high ball flight trajectory with excellent distance. Heel hits are still accurate with very little loss of distance. As you'd expect from any club, toe hits cost distance and accuracy but are not as painful as the older forged clubs. You'll know where on the clubface you struck the ball immediately by feel. Long irons are easy to hit even out of moderate rough. All are dead accurate. Cosmetically these clubs are beautiful with flawless workmanship throughout the entire set.

The Apex Plus is a forged cavity back. They feel as good as forged blades w/ additional forgiveness of a cavity back. They also look great. They are more forgiving than they look and they are very accurate. I think my search is over for perfect irons (for me). A little bit pricy but they are worth every penny.

Perfect Cosmetics with increased sweet spot for a blade. Feels great but not even as close as Golfsmith Forge. Probably best trajectory in the game though.
