I had been looking for new clubs since Christmas and after looking at numerous reviews I had selected Apex Plus as my choice. Since they are next to impossible to find in Canada now that the price has been reduced I found the lowest price(with a SW thrown in) on the internet and ordered from the US. I just picked them up this weekend and if I''m not careful I''m going to swing through my ceiling. I can''t walk by without picking one up and swinging it. They look fantastic, with a classic chrome finish, and the weight of the heads is awesome. They feel like they want to swing themselves. I think I have gotten a real deal and can''t wait to get out on the course and feel what hitting a real golf club is like. I''ll post again in July and give you an update. Customer Service Registered online. Waiting for my hat, but the package they send with the clubs is very nice. Lefty Hogan Apex Plus, Dynamic Gold S300 Sensicore Steel Shafts
Preface: As with any set of clubs, get them fitted to your personal specs by someone who knows what they''re doing! This can make more difference to your game than you may realize. Back to the review: Wow, what a feel! Wow, what a beauty! Wow, what a ... This set of irons is by far the MOST of any I''ve hit! Most feel, most forgiveness (remember our context here--forged clubs!), most impressive ball flight, etc. Beautiful club sets up nicely--point and shoot! Swingweight promotes a nice, smooth swing. My only complaint would be the strong lofts in the short irons; a gap wedge is mandatory. 150 yard pitching wedges are impressive, but it also leaves me with a less-than-impressive 40 yard gap to my sand wedge (56 degree). If you don''t have a nice 3/4 wedge-- or room in your bag for a gap wedge--you have to weaken the lofts a little. After some minor tinkering with lofts/lies these are by far the best irons I''ve ever hit, IMHO. If you want to lower your scores, GET THESE IRONS!! These clubs are the best clubs I have ever hit. When I bought these, I hit 14 other sets of clubs. This one had the best feel, trajectory, and response. They are easy to shape your shots with. I lost about 5-10 yards with each club, but my accuracy has gone way up. |

Apex Plus LH #3 Apex shafts
Well, I saw a lot of reviews saying that high handicappers should stay away from these clubs, so naturally I just had to get some :). I''ve only played 13 rounds/6 months and hit hundreds of range balls (total), but so far I''m very happy with these irons. My swing speed is around 80mph, and the #3 shafts are fine. I don''t hit these any worse than my oversized Wilsons, and in fact my mis-hits lose distance but are a whole lot better (straighter). These are much longer than my Wilsons (which had a much higher trajectory), so I overshot most of the pins in my first round with them by about 20 yards, but I''m losing less balls, and I can vaguely see how that fade/draw thing happens. I don''t feel like I''m swinging a shovel at the ball any more. The main thing is, I feel like I can control the distance/direction of these more than my last clubs, as long as I swing easy and evenly. When I don''t hit the sweet spot perfectly (which is right now usually the case), they let me know right away, but not as harshly as the TM Bubbles or old blades I tried. I like that they let me know when I''ve made a mistake, but don''t make me feel like I''ve just hit a fence post, unlike the TM Bubble shafts and old blades I''ve tried. Only negatives I found were that yes, half the paint did come out of the numbers, the price (if I had to buy new ones), and that I had to buy more wedges because the E(PW) wasn''t short enough - not so bad. If this is what forged irons are about, I''m liking it! Customer Service You decide. I sent them an email asking that, IF I bought a set of used clubs, did I have to send them back to BH or have a local pro set them up? Their reply was "Dear Mr. Hillard(sic): Thank you f Similar Products Used: Wilson Ultra MBT, Taylor Made Bubble shafts, BH Apex Plus 4 iron #4 shaft (about 15 yards shorter), old junk. |

Just bought the Apex plus this weekend for $599 CDN, great deal. Got the apex 4 stiff shaft, standard lie, loft with oversize Winn all weather grips. Chose the Hogans over Ping blades, Mizuno MX20, Mizuno comp ez,Maxfli revolution & new Cobras. The hogans were more accurate and felt so much smoother than the others. The shaft seems a good shaft but I may upgrade next season to a rifle if i find it is inferior The price was just too good to refuse. a steal of a deal. Just a few comments in response to preceding review.. You can swing hard with thes clubs, no shanks or toe hits after hitting over 100 hundred balls. Off centre hits lose distance and accuracy but the clubs are very forgiving and the feedback is unbelievable. Ball flight is lower than some clubs but still a nice trajectory. Fades & draws can be shaped effortlessly. i would reccomend thes clubs to anyone who shoots in the 80s to a scratch player. Good luck this season to all. As you can see I have played many brands of irons and I feel these are the best. When you first pick up the apex plus the first you will notice is the clean classic look of a forged blade, but they dont stop there. The apex plus is a solid club with excellent distance and distance control , and has a great feel.Hogan has a winner designed for all handicaps, would suggest to buy when the shops are clearing before the new apex pro plus comes out. A REAL WINNER The price I paid for brand new is also $599.00 CANADIAN............... Customer Service HAVE NOT USED Similar Products Used: Ping blades, Titleist 990, Mizuno pro,Titleist 862 |

dropped my Wilson "6 years old" model and bought the Apex graphite set in last x''mas, and during the first time I used this on green, my score dropped back to over 100 becuase I could not appreciate and control the extra distance the irons gave. However, I found that this set could really force me to swing "correctly", in order to enjoy the performance of them. With more and more practice on driving range, I have got used to it and the feel when the ball is hit right is so good. Also, the iron play in last few rounds were much improved. |

None Owned Cleveland''''s, TA-3 FF, switched to these for more distance and more responsive and yet softer feel. While the TA''''s were very good for my game, the Hogans just were too hard to pass up given their performance advantages, especially at this price. These are without a doubt the best clubs when taking into account accuracy, distance, feel and of course looks. None Got these on Christmas. Have played 3 rounds and hit a few buckets on teh range. Did get the shanks, but as I play and my swing adjusts, I''m beginning to see why everyone''s raving about these clubs. I''m hitting at least 5-8 yards longer. Misthits, though harsh on the hands, still carry long and straight. The The feel is amazing. Excellent clubs. Similar Products Used: None |
