Adams Golf GT Irons

Adams Golf GT Irons

DESCRIPTION

From Adams Golf: "The Tight Lies GT Irons offer a revolutionary design bringing together the best of both worlds - the first ever irons that offer the combination of steel and graphite in one shaft. Adams' patented multi-material GT Shaft uses a high-strength, graphite tip that is 50% stronger than steel. This means optimal stability at impact for consistently straighter shots." ...More graphite in the long irons promotes a higher ball flight and greater forgiveness, less in the short irons promotes a lower more controlled trajectory.

Well, I'd like to agree with many of the statements already made by others. However, I had trouble adjusting to these clubs. They are generally forgiving but lost to much distance on toe hits. As far as distance, they were a half club shorter that the Ping eye 2 that I used and a full club shorter than the Callaway X-14. Adams has a great idea going with the GT shafts and there is no doubt the irons fly straight. They were just a little to inconsistant with my particular swing.

Great clubs to hit with. The feel is amazing and very easy to control. The idea of having a steel shaft with graphite is great for the golfer who wants the best of both worlds. I've never hit the ball so far and so straight before. The Adams company has a real winner with these clubs and hopefully there will be other companies who follow with the same technology.

After trying each brand's best, the GT irons won out. The unique steel and graphit shafts provide the control of steel and the dampening of carbon fiber. Adams has a reputation for innovation, and these irons have lots of it. Great feel and good (but not great) aesthetics. Buy 'em now while they are unique - in a few years they will be as common as Callaway's. I have already met several people who are buying custom clubs and specifying the True Temper shafts used on these clubs.

I have aready posted a review below. Look back to the 2nd review. I have now had these irons for about 6 months. My handicap has come down 3 shots. hit my lowest score of 15 over recently. The long irons are soooooooo easy to hit. Long soft landing shots. I have switched ball to a softer ball Strata Tour Professional and the 2 are made for each other. I occasionally hit a lazy draw.........something I have never done before. They generate huge amounts of spin 6 iron and up. I can stop a ball on a six pence......I guess most of you would say on a dime!! A friend of mine tried them recently and he is now saving hard to get some. He like me will go for the custom fit option which makes such a difference......similar to recent reviewer I am a product junkie and like to read research and then buy. I have found my valhalla. I only wish the European Team were all playing with them for the forthcoming Ryder Cup.......Now that might start something. Thanks Barney excellent product.... I also use 15 deg Tour Fairway wood, 9 deg Titanium Driver all by Adams. Total convert.

When I started researching new irons the two sites who’s opinion I respected the most was this one and Ham & Egg’s (check out http://www.hamegg.org/main/article.php?sid=221 ). After countless trips to the golf store and hours reading reviews my search was narrowed down to 3 candidates: Ping ISI, Taylor Made Super Steel, and the Adams GT irons. I went with the GT’s, and I could not be happier. These clubs are absolutely fantastic! Ken’s review (the guy’s review directly below this one) hits the proverbial nail square on the head, these clubs just get better and better. Please let me save you some time in your search for new irons… go with the Adams GT’s. You will not be disappointed. In addition, I concur with the other reviews that suggest you invest the extra time to have them custom fitted too.

Customer Service

It took longer than I liked to get the clubs custom made, but it was worth the wait.

This is an updated review after the "honeymoon" period for new clubs. If these clubs were a woman...I'd be saying "I do", "anything you say, dear", etc. They get better & better & better. I've been playing these since early April & could not be more pleased. Distance is excellent, consistent, consistent distances between clubs, super feel, great accuracy, forgiving, I could go on & on. The long irons are still amazing. The 3-5 are monsters & very easy to hit. My GIR's are steadily rising & my swing has a lot to do w/it....but I have to also credit the clubs for the increased confidence & performance. I'm an equipment junkie & these have cured my need for new irons. I guess that's about the best compliment I can give them.

These irons felt great and were very long with excellent distance accuracy, but kept hitting them to the left. There is way too much slice correction in these irone for anyone who doesn't have a slicing problem.

Model Reviewed: Adams GT irons, stiff

Was a diehard Ping fan... not anymore. Adjusted to these in first 18 played. The feel was the toughest adjustment, but the main advantages were the accuracy, forgiveness and distance! I've never been this consistent. I had to take a little off my swing to adjust, but now hit it longer and straighter... go figure. I demo'd everything on the market... I definitely bought the right set.

These clubs hit about the same distance as my all graphite irons with an easier swing and the consistancy is much improved. The GT shafts are the best I have played.
