Adams Golf GT Irons

Adams Golf GT Irons

DESCRIPTION

From Adams Golf: "The Tight Lies GT Irons offer a revolutionary design bringing together the best of both worlds - the first ever irons that offer the combination of steel and graphite in one shaft. Adams' patented multi-material GT Shaft uses a high-strength, graphite tip that is 50% stronger than steel. This means optimal stability at impact for consistently straighter shots." ...More graphite in the long irons promotes a higher ball flight and greater forgiveness, less in the short irons promotes a lower more controlled trajectory.

Excellent, the feel to these irons is very nice. When the ball makes contact it has a soft feel.

I just bought these and have played several rounds. The clubs are 1 to 1-1/2 club longer than my old Ping Eye 2's. Deadly accurate with enough feel to let me know when I've made solid contact. I'm even starting to hit a draw, which is a first for me. Wonderful product!

I had a set of Ping ISI irons that I thought were the greatest. Just for kicks I demoed these clubs and brought them to the driving range with my ISIs. WOW. They hit further and straighter than the ISIs in a club by club compairison. I hit the ISI 3 iron then the Adams 3 iron. THe ISI4 then Adams 4. ECT. No compairson. These clubs are lighter which may be where the extra distance comes in. They are cleaner but this may be because of the thwack sound from the ISIs. Regardless, I traded them in the next day and LOVE the new clubs. I have demoed many clubs since then including Ping I3, Hogan Apex, Taylor Made, Snake Eyes, you name it and nothing hits it as clean, straight, or as far as these Adams. Sweeeet. You can get these clubs for $500 or less on Ebay now.

Customer Service

They do not have a custom fitting site in Memphis so I called Adams and they said when they get one here they will fit me for free and if any alterations need to be done to the clubs then that will be free as well. Ping charges to change the lie of a club.

The shafts are a winner . . . control of steel, yet smooth feel of graphite. Very forgiving on thin and fat shots, and very accurate. Also, quite long. The only downside is a product of its own making: forgiving, which means hard to shape shots. You won't slice or hook much, but you can't fade or draw them too easily either. A plus, however, is that it is easy to hit 3/4 shots, knockdowns, and chips, which is usually not available in a "game improvement" club.

Overall, I would highly recommend them for the mid-handicapper looking for an all-around long, consistent and somewhat forgiving club.

I've played about 8 rounds with the Adams GT irons now, & they get better every time. The long irons are incredible. I have as much confidence in my 3-iron as I do my PW. Very stable & solid thoughout the swing & impact. The graphite tip shaft is the real deal. No vibration at impact. The Adams are long, high, straight, & forgiving. The only negative is that they are difficult to work. If you want to work the ball, go with the GT Tour version. Or, order a mixed set. That's the way to go. I think Tom Watson has the 3-5 in the Performance, & 6-PW in the Tour. If you're looking at irons, you owe it to yourself to hit these. They are excellent.

I have done quite a bit of iron hopping in the last year. Gone through 5 or 6 sets and let me tell you --- I AM HOME!! These Adams GT irons are soooooooooooo sweet! I got rid of Hawkeye irons because they were so clunky feeling. The Adams are so solid, straight, high, easy to hit, sets up super, very plain looking cavity, amazing shafts, and the icing on the cake is they offer custom fitting. Here's a tip if you buy these irons, don't get the extra wedges in the set, instead, get the new Watson wedges which also sport a GT shaft. Also, if you don't like long irons, just buy Pitch through 5 and get a GT iWood (rescue clone) in 24' and 21' which is replacement for 3 and 4 iron. If I could give these clubs a higher rating I would. They are that good! Ham and Egg which has a huge review site. www.hamegg.com rated these as the best set of irons THIS DECADE ---- OOOOOOOHHHHHHHH YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

I just hit these clubs after having them recommended by a club fitter. Wow, I must admit I was very impressed. I hadn't originally considered these clubs as I am more interested in forged heads - either Hogan Apex Plus or TaylorMade 300. But these clubs have me thinking twice.

These clubs are very consistent, very long, and launch the ball higher and farther than any cast clubs I have hit. They are far superior to every other cast club I have hit (including Ping I3 and Callaway X-14), and trust me, I've hit 'em all in the past month.

I would highly recommend you consider these irons. The only cast club that hit the ball dead straight and long time after time after time. These are the only cast irons in the running for me, competing with the Hogan Apex Plus (forged) and TaylorMade 300 (forged). Forget the non-traditional look, just try 'em, you'll like 'em.

Didn't believe the hype until I tried them. I sold my X-14s w/ firm graphite shaft. I think what make these clubs special are the hybrid steel/ graphite shafts. Straighter than the X-14s. The regular GT shaft is comparable in terms of flex to the Callaway firm graphite shafts. Soft but solid feel even when hitting range balls. If you hit 50 balls with the GTs and 50 balls with the X-14s you will see that on the average, the X-14s are more foregiving. But if you take the best 25 from each set, the GTs are definitely more accurate, ie if you play em straight. I notice, though, that I've lost about half a club of distance with the GTs when compared to the Callaways. Maybe it's because I haven't hit them as hard yet. But I would easily give that up if I'm going to be on the greens a lot more often.
