I really feel that this is a fairway wood for the better than average player. With the small head it isn't very forgiving. However, if you have the ability to put a good swing on it, then the ball sores off of the face. It has great workability. I tried this with the Cleveland Launcher and the Taylormade V-steel. The Launcher is a nice fairway wood also, and since i have the Launcher 400 driver I was a little bias towards it. However, I liked the feel a little better with the titleist, and for $50 cheaper I couldn't pass it up. I really don't think that the V-steel has a very good stock shaft in, and the feel was real dull, even though results weren't too bad. All are top of the line fairway woods, however I think the titleist is a little better than the launcher, and quite a bit better than the V-Steel

Beautiful looking club that encourages you to hit the ball well. I have always been fairly inconsistent with my woods and but this club has helped me enourmously. If you concentrate on making a good swing at the ball you can do anything with this club, high fades, low draws. The feeling of the face is very hot and distance wise this club is as long as any 3 wood (I swing a 3 wood at 102mph and carry this 230yrds). This club isn't the most forgiving but does want to make me improve. If you are a decent player (I would say hc10 or lower) then I don't see the point of buying clubs that mask your bad ball striking, everybody who plays at this level wants to get better and thats precisely why I chose this club over more 'artificial' clubs. Mine has a DG-S400 shaft in it and is quite a heavy club but I think better players prefer to have weighty heads in teir 3 woods to help them get the feel of swinging the club. Quality wise, titlest says it all really. In fact I was so impressed that I went and bought a 983k. Top club, no question.

This club is by far the best fairway wood I've owned. Hits the ball far and very workable. I also must note that this club is very forgiving. I also must say the fujikura pro vista shaft that it came with is a good compliment to this club. To say the least I am very pleased.

Smaller pear-profile than what I'm used to. VERY hot feel coming of the clubface when struck properly; I'd compare it to the rebound effect coming off an TM R500 series driver. The V-shaped sole does make it easy to hit off the fairway. BUT, and this is a Big BUT: its initially difficult to square the clubface to your intended target. The reason for this is is the dark gray topline; right where the top of the club meets the clubface. Your tendency is to square this topline perpendicular to your target line; do this though & your clubface is actually closed..Very closed. Ive hit plenty of duckhooks because of this. So really, a correctly squared face actually has this dark gray topline looking slightly open, not visually comforting, but correctly squared nonetheless. There is a small arrowhead on the top of the club that helps somewhat; titleist couldve make it bigger though. Shotshaping is at will; high/low/draw/fade, this club delivers when you swing it accordingly. But practice makes perfect when squaring this club. Even more practice to make proper contact(duh!). DGSteel shaft is perfect (for me). But I prefer golf pride grips vs. the titleist cord grips. The cord grips smoothen out pretty fast.

The most forgiving club I've ever hit! Despite the smallish head size I consistantly hit shots down the target line even on shots that are hit off center. The club plays very well from both the fairway and the tee. I often bag the driver on the tee in favor of my 3 wood now because I'm more confident I can get it in the fairway. Besides being forgiving it's also very easy to work the ball with a draw or fade. The Titleist shaft is a bit stiff for my taste but I'm starting to grow into it. This wood is well worth the investment.

This club is the bomb! I have gone through four 3 woods and this is the best I have ever hit. I have the DG 300 stiff steel shaft and it is great. I got this club because it was accurate and was surprised that is was longer than my callaway steelhead III. Hitting it off the deck is a joy. Titleist got it right with this club.

I recently added this fairway wood to my bag and have had nothing but good experiences so far. I like the 'smallish' club head and the way it sits address. The stock shaft seems to work well with swingspeed (~100-102 with the fairway wood). Despite the size of the head, I've been able to get the ball up with little trouble and extricate myself from moderate rough. Distance is improved over the Cleveland I had in my bag and I have actually improved my consistency (though there was plenty of room for improvement). Perhaps it's just the confidence coming from playing such a good looking club...

Customer Service

2nd Swing was able to find me a 'hardly used' club in about a week for about a thrid less than retail. That's excellent service to me.

I live in Brazil and just received these clubs. Got the 3 and 5 wood and after playing 3 rounds I can tell you that this is 'the wood'! The 3 wood - 15 degrees - I played carrying 230 yards, the 5 wood goes 210 yards. The club is amazing, it has a small clubface but hits very easy and straight ! I love them !

wow!!! what a club...waited 4 weeks after placing the order, and worth the wait..long, 'forgiving', workable...about everything you would want in a three wood...the proforce shaft gives a medium trajectory with a nice bit if roll at the end...my swingspeed is round or about 112 to 115 and i get 240 to 250 of carry...the proforce stiff is STIFF...i normally play a draw and hit a fade or slice by 'accident'...had a little 260 yard par four with a left to right fairway, blind to the green...usually a 8 iron, wedge in...hit the 980F, opened it up a bit, and as if by magic, the ball cut right around the dogleg, pin high on the apron when we got there...i've played the GBB 2 three wood, the 975F 14.5, hawkeye vft pro series, this the best yet by far....sneeky long and really straight...give a try, you won't be disappointed!!!!

Customer Service

have'nt had to use it yet, but did call the 1-800 number to check the custom dept.about alternate shafts...realyy nice and not condescending like a lot of manufacturers reps are.....
