this is a funny club. at first it takes a long time to get used to it because the hitting area is not big. it took me a month or two to get used to just hitting it consistently in the sweet spot. when have masterd that then this club is awsome. it goes high and far of the tee and very easy to shape shots with. in the fair way it is exactly like hitting it off a tee. the best thin about this club is when you get a fluffy lie in the ruff. you hit bullets with it a good 15 yards longer that any where else just make a contact swing with it and it will go much farther great club |

I've played the 987K driver for almost 2 years and love it. I purchased the 980F in the hope that it might perform as well. In general, I give this club really high marks. The only complaint would be that the sound is not as good as the K. Good sound, but not the amazing sound of the K. I opted for the 15 degree rather than the 13 degree. The 13 is darn near a mini driver off the tee, but for my game it's a bit too strong from most fairway lies. The ball flight with the 15 is great off the fairway and good off the tee. My recommendation for most players would be to get the 15 degree. The 13 is great off the tee, but unless you are one heck of a fairway wood player, the 13 is just too hot to be hitting into greens. Draw the 13 a bit more than you want from the fairway and don't even bother talking to it. I have the speeder shaft with a stiff flex. My club has a horrible decal just below the grip that is some 4-5 inches in length. I find this unwanted ad to be very annoying. I got this club several months ago as a close out to make way for the new models. Great price. Bet the new ones won't be as good! |

Great club after you get the shaft replaced. Fujikura devalued their name a lil buy making this cheap $ $10 so called shaft. I replaced it with the new GD ys-6 shaft and what a diff. Great club for everyone, not the most forgiving club, but why would you want to mask you flaws with gimmicks. My 5'5" 105 pd girlfriend loves this club and shes a 25 handy and its not just the fact she loves the club she can really hit it. Go figure. Like everyone else I've tried everything and anything. I have no company loyalty, titleist putter and woods, TM rac mb irons and miz. wedges, I just try to play with what works for me. So if you want a club thats tops in feel and performance, go try the 980F Customer Service dont know Similar Products Used: everything |

i recently got a 980F to match my 983K driver. the 980F has a smaller club head compared to callaway fairway woods. this give me more confidence on hittin the fairway wood off the ground. it allows me to get the ball higher into the air and i also hit the ball much straighter with this club than i did with my old Callaway Steelhead Plus 3 wood. the steel shaft also gives me a lot more accuracy. for me this club is perfect! i bet it would be for you aswell. My fairway woods were gettin kind of old and all my friends got new clubs so i figured Id get a few new ones too. I went to my Clubs pro and asked him what is a good 3 wood, he told me to try the new 980. And they had just got one in as a demo club. So he let me take it out and hit it. I fell in love after my first shot. This is a great club. Its a forgiving club yet when you hit the sweet spot this thing makes you ball look smaller than a marble when its in the air. Goods- It has a perfect trajectory, the ball flight is great. When the ball comes of the sweet spot it feels like you hit butter. And when the you have a mis-hit your still in the shortgrass. This club is also perfectly weighted, not to heave not to light. And this is also the best looking 3 wood Ive ever seen. I wasnt able to find anything bad about this club its just great. I've tried a few other three woods like taylor made v-steel, pt titleist, Callaway steelhead III, Cobra SZ, titleist 975f, but nothing compared to the 980 Customer Service didnt use Similar Products Used: taylor made v-steel, pt titleist, Callaway steelhead III, Cobra SZ, titleist 975f |

I bought a 975 J a few months back and have been very happy with it. The 5 wood I've had in my bag the past 7 years has seen its's better days, but has always been my favorite club. I decided to look for a 980 F 17 degree on ebay. Picked up 1 for $140.00. It had the factory stock steel shaft on it which made it a little heavy, so I had an Aldila NV 75 stiff shaft put on it. What a difference it made. Keep in mind, I'm not a great golfer, but I can carry this 200-210 yards on an easy swing. You most definately have to put a good swing on it, but it has great ball flight off the tee and off the fairway. It's not a very forgiving club, but I believe this will help to make your swing more consistent. I would also recommed the Aldila NV 75 shaft as it is on the heavier side for a graphite. This is a great club for any level of golfer. |

To be honest, I didn't try a lot of 3 woods. In fact, I purchased this one because I liked my new 983K, and my old (6 years) Taylor Made was looking a bit tired. I purchase a second hand on eBay, with the Grafalloy regular shaft. First of all, it's a beauty. I have the strange feeling that it really helps to hit good shots. Second, I like his small head (compared to today's standards). This also makes me more confident, especially on the fairway. I have never mesured my swing speed, but I think it's pretty slow. I hit around 200-220 yards with the 980F (which is very good for me), but, more importantly, very consistantly. What I like the most, is the ability to work the ball, and it's forgiveness on the fairway. Before, I had never been able to hit a 3 wood on a second shot. The sound and the feel are also fantastic. So far, it's the best club I have in my bag. Similar Products Used: Taylor made burner |

Great clubs. I have the 3 and 5 woods. (steel shaft). Concerned after reading that most reviews said this was a club for better golfers. I am new to golf and have little trouble getting the distance I want from these clubs. I don't have a very high swing speed but the 19' will do about 175+ and the 15' will do 190+ for me. I would recommend to anyone. Customer Service Not needed. Similar Products Used: Tommy Armour FS, Adams GT |

Awesome fairway wood! Before buying, I compared this the fairway launcher, callaway steelhead plus, and TM V-steel. This club with the fugi speeder shaft was the best for me. I've never been consistant with a wood until I started hitting this club. Now I use this more often than my driver. It's long and straight off the tee and easy to hit off the fairway and light rough. I think I finally found the club with the perfect shaft and loft for me. I recommend trying different combinations before buying.
