This FW wood is great. I am a pretty good ballstirker who sometimes suffers from a hook. As such I try to avoid draw biased or hook face clubs. I play an LFE titleist driver for that reason. Problem has been to find a square face neutral fw wood. The sonartecs and 980f have been mentioned but am not confident enough to use such players clubs off the deck. Happened onto a near new 580 3 wood with prolite shaft in it. First off while larger than a steel head it is not deeper faced. It sets up dead square( I like). Demoed it and bought it on the spot. I can hit it straight fade or draw. The ball is stupid easy to hit from the fairway and tee. It hits it high but with an arching flight. It is better and more forgiving than any 3 wood I have used to date. The only one that compares is my original sh4+ which is also neutral and easy to hit but not as forgiving on off center hits. While thi smay be more expensive than steel the prices have been coming down adn have been retsailing for only 30-40$ more than a v-steel which is not as forgiving

Without a doubt this is the best 3 wood I have ever hit. Consistently straight and the ball takes off quick. I now have the driver, 5 wood and 7 wood and they are all dynamite. Nice job Taylor Made - now I know why these clubs are such a big hit on tour. 5 stars all the way.

I love this thing! I have never got so much distance from a 3 wood before. I could easily use this thing as a driver. My old Cleveland Quad was about the same size. The 580 3 wood is easy to hit, very forgiving and launches like a cannon! What a difference these 580's have made on my game. (Yes I got the driver too.)

Just recieved this club for my birthday from my roommate and what a club it is!!! I felt it would be too much club for me (as I had problems with a 975 3-wood) however it turned out to be the right club. When the club is swung at a proper tempo and you sweep the ball off the grass, it pierces the air with a knee-buckling trajectory and so straight it makes arrows look bent. I usually wouldn't spend my time writing a review, but I felt this deserved it ten times over. Also, I felt my fellow golfers needed to hear about it...I just hope I don't meet up with you at a tourny ;) . Go, at least, to your nearest golf shop where you can take a couple swings with this club and see for yourself.

Let me first say, I have never felt the need to post a review before AND I never believed the claims of adding 30 yards by switching clubs....BUT....I purchased this 3 wood last week and used it for an entire round off the tee just to get used to it. On 3 holes where I normally hit driver, I was in my best position ever. And I have played this course more than 100 times. My driver is about 250 on aaverage. And my ERC 3 wood was about 230(when I didnt hook it). I blasted a drive with some people far down the fairway, and I was shocked when they turned around with the WTF look. When I got to the ball I was 230 yards out on a 497 yard par 5. Thats close to 270! On two other holes, I hit it 250. Thats with a slight draw, no wind help. I am amazed at the distance, and now will leave my driver at home. And I love getting away from the closed faced Callaways. Not 1 hook, and a couple nice fades!

this is an amazing club. i hit it 10-20 yards farther off the ground than my old 3-wood. the only draw back is the price. im no math genious but $300 is an aweful lot to save from washing cars!

Very good club. Produces amazing confidence in my game. Nice trajectory, very long averaging around the 240 mark.No problems working the ball. Good size (big, but not too deep) useful for getting out of the rough. Only problem is that the face looks very open at adress, causes feeling that you are going to slice but it doesn't. Go for the ultralite 60gram shaft stiff. Gets you a very good swing speed therefore producing more distance.

Longer and straighter, need I say more? These clubs are a perfect match for my new TM R540 driver. The 3 wood looks as big as my old driver and the 7 wood like my old 3 wood. Balls come off sweet and hot, even in light rough. They both look great at setup and don't have the left bias of my old Callaway Steelhead III woods (which I just sold).

Customer Service

Actually the shaft on the 3 wood cracked the first time I took it to the range, maybe from shipping damage. A local golf shop replaced the club, no Q asked.

Great looks, very confident at setup. Weight distribution is very comfortable, not too light like a titanium driver, slightly heavy in the mid face and bottom, closer to a steel feel. Extraordinary carry, but IMO trajectory is aittle bit too high (often the case with Titanium woods). Easy to hit off the tee, but requires a little bit more turf than my previous (mizuno) from the fairway. Perfect out of light rough.Very easy to control direction, pleasant feel

Customer Service

Not needed, but have always heard that their sales rep are very helpful

I can easily hit 210 to 220 yards the R580 5-woods. I gain almost 10 to 20 yards more than my old Callaway wardbird because of the high MOI and a bigger sweetspot. Highly recommend fairway wood for fairway and from the rough.
