I've hit with ALOT of fairway woods. The Ti Bubble 2 neither felt good on center hits or inspired alot of confidence at address. The Adams Tight Lies 2 did inspire confidence at address, but felt somewhat dead on center hits. The Titleist 980f's felt AWESOME on center hits, but were not very forgiving. They also didn't inspire confidence at address. So after reading the reviews on here, I decided to try the R580 fairway woods. The distance I'm getting with the 3wood is pretty good: 220+ off the tee/deck. It's about the same as with the 980f's. The feel is maybe just slightly deader than the 980f's. The sound is kind of a tinny clink instead of the 980f's trampoline-like clank (sounds weird I know). Forgiveness seems slight better with these, maybe because they're low profile & I feel more confident at address. I've since made some changes to my swing, mainly to slow it down, & I can now hit every ball dead center in the club face. Trajectory seems higher with these than the Titleists. Roll is about the same. So, if you can hit a low-profile wood as good as a pear-shaped, it's a toss-up. Feel seems better with the 980f's; forgiveness seems better with the R580s. But I'm hitting better with the TMs so these get the 5 (I gave the Titleists a 4 because the topline made them harder to square). In my opinion, though, these woods are WAY overpriced retail.

Great fairway metalwoods from TaylorMade that have shallow faces which makes them forgiving off the tee or from the fairway. They nicely compliment its R500 drivers. The finish could be a little better, but the stock shafts have good torque that fit my swing.

I have recently bought the 3-wood on eBay. The first two hits were both on par 5's and both times I got onto the green in 2. This is a great club for it's value-relatively light, very easy to hit off the fairway and you get great distance. More forgiving than the Titleist 980F. You will not regret buying this club!

I bought the 3 wood about 2 weeks ago. What an excellent club! It took me about a bucket before i could fix this fade i had, but after that I was killin the ball over 230 straight every time. I reccomend it off the fairways. I sometimes use it off the tees, but mostly stick with my driver (also a taylormade). I love the club and reccomend it to anyone in need of a club that will hit a shot out of the fairway about as long as your tee shot. Anyone who wants to shave strokes off their game should definitely buy this club.

Weaker loft (15 degrees) than Ping 3-woods (14 degrees) that I have been using but distance is about 20 yds longer. The shaft on the TM are about 1 inch shorter--adding to improved accuracy and control. The Ping G2 is a great club, but the TM R-580 is better. This is an expensive club compared to its competitors, but worth the price.

Awesome clubs. This is the only 3 wood I have ever been able to hit out of the fairway with any consistency plus have the distance (230-250). I loved it so much I sold my Cleveland Launcher 5 wood and Titleist 980F 4 wood and purchased an R580 5 wood.....I just hit it yesterday and it is awesome as well. I also have an R540 driver and in tight fairways I hit the 3 wood.....wow, it is almost as long as the driver. TaylorMade has made an excellent club, they are a little high in price retail ($300) but, you can find them new on ebay for $200. Get you one of these, you won't be sorry.

I purchased both of these clubs brand new off of Ebay, both at really low prices. I payed 177 for the 5 wood, and 210 for the 3 wood. I love the feel and weight of these clubs. Not as light as the driver, but you wouldnt want a really light fairway wood anyway, because you would never be able to get down and strike the ball good. They are both light, but weighted in the right spot to help you get down on the ball. All in all, I would purchase them again in an instant. Also, they are both great looking clubs.

My 3-wood is not only my favorite wood in the bag, but also the most important one to me since I use it off the tee for almost all par 4s. Before I got to the R580 woods, I tried the Adams Tight Lies, Callaway Steelhead III (both graphite and steel shafts), the Taylormade V-Steel AND the Adams Redline, but I wasn't comfortable with any of them. The Steelhead hooked left and had a closed face, the V-steel was great off the turf but I couldn't hit it off the tee, and the Redline didn't have enough pop to it. But once I found the R580, I instantly fell in love with it. It hits straight off the tee, is great off fairways/rough, and just overall is a club that can make you feel very confident. This is by far the best fairway wood I have played with to date.

I've already got the 580 driver and 3 wood, I was so impressed that I had to try the 5 wood. These clubs have made me a better player and I'm having fun again. I'm hitting long, straight, and playing with more confidence. What a difference these clubs have made on my game. TM has hit a grand slam with these!

I bought the R580 3-wood on ebay, for an excellent price, based on research here and other places on the internet. I wish I could give a wonderful review on its fairway performance, but I cannot...because I hit it so LONG off the tee, I never had to bother with a wood off the "deck!!" This is one seriously long and straight 3 wood...on one 380 yard par four, granted I was downwind and the fairway was firm, I ended up only 75 yards from the green on my drive, still in the fairway! It was a wonderful moment! It's a beautiful club, perfectly weighted, and I love the fact it is not offset at all. It has an odd sound at contact, almost muted, but that is only a minor gripe. This is a first rate club.

Customer Service

na ebay is the way to go though...I bought this club brand new for <$200, and you can't touch them for less than $300 retail.
