Model Reviewed: R580 3 N 5 WOOD

Nearly 2 years ago, I am a Callaway avid fan. Bought the x-14, vft 1,3,5 woods firm even the putter. 3 wood almost the same distance as the driver. Almost the same carry driver has more roll. Happy with the vft woods not the driver. The woods are powerful and forgiving off the tee. Try the vft wood on the fairway your shot will be inconsistent. The sweet spot is too high and there are groves at the buttom which was oftenly hit on the fairway. The ball will still fly, but distance is sacrifice/lost around 20-30yards; sometimes the effect is low flight. I know there are lots of Callaway fans, but no harm if you try the vft versus the R580. Big diference. R580 sweetspot is lower and bigger. Boost your confidence on poor lie. Do not have close face with draw bias which the golfer should adjust on their swing. R580 ball flight is stronger than vft woods. I recommend the R580 wood to all golfers that are comfortable to 60 grams shaft give it a try. you will enjoy the game. P.S. Gave up the X-14 for a set of Honma. vft driver for a TM XR-03. Callaway Putter BJ-6 for a Tri-Hot. Vft woods for the R580 fairway.

Model Reviewed: TaylorMade R580 #3 wood

I can't believe what a difference this Fairway wood series makes. I don't have a super fast swing speed and got this model in regular flex (stock MAS2 60 regular). All my shots have been consistantly straight and seems to rocket off the clubface. Unfortunately I will have to wait for a nice warm day when I can try this on a real tee box. Fairway woods have never been my strongpoint and I've been battling some inconsistant slicing until I started using the TaylorMades R580 series. I currently own the Adams TightLies ST fairway wood series (and seriously considering replacing my #5 now!)and have used several of the Callaway metal woods. Although I like the Callaway's as well, I like the feel and address of the R580 series better (this is just a personal option). The club is very forgiving. It has a bit longer face but not as deep as the Callaway Steelhead IIIs. I've had no problems at all hitting off the deck or off a tee. The swing weight of the R580 series is rated at a D3 and it suits my preferences and swing best. Some may find it a bit head heavy so best give it a try first before you run out on a limb and get one. My only complaint is that they're a bit expensive (about $480.CDN). Did I mention, I love the sound it makes?

Model Reviewed: TM580 Fairway 3-Wood

I checked out the TM580 3 wood and I'm posting because those golfer looking for a square-faced 3 wood or 5 wood have to check these out. I was amazed to see a square face with draw weighting technology and I've been waiting for years for forgiving clubs with hese attributes. Taylormade gave up on closed-faced equipment after everyone complained of snap hooks with the 320 and especially nasty closed face 360. I know they worked for many golfers and that's OK. Most 3 woods like callaway tend to pull hook due to very closed faces. This (TM 580) will be straight and workable. I'm going to buy the TM580 10.5 + TM580 3-wood in stock Stiff and never buy another driver or fairway wood again, except perhaps the matching TM580 5 wood to replace my 3 iron. These seem as good as it gets for me and I'm after total forgiveness, accuracy, distance. I've seen some discussion on the Cobra driver. If it is 2 or 2.5 closed face as said, it will snap hook for many golfers. It should never slice. Golfers must know what works for them, the individual, and not knock what others like.
