Fantastic on the fairway, high and long.. But in the rough I prefer to use the irons... My late TM were 100% better in the rough.

i like the club alot. good tee shots are rewarded.....lots of roll if hit low. i do have a problem with slicing but that is purely my fault. i don't have any problems with this club from the rough. i would recommend this club.

Model Reviewed: Orlimar Trimetal- 15*; 19*

I bought the 15 and 19 degree fairway woods, stiff shafts. Thus far, I've been very pleased with both. I had some concern initially about the shallow clubface, but solved that my second time out.

My doubts were gone when hit the 15* about 240 on a long par 5, leaving a half wedge in. Great deal for the money--planning to look at the Trimetal Plus clubs when they are discounted.

Very long off the tee (tee it low!) and much straighter than my Mizuno driver. I've also been able to hit it off the fairway (on a good day), a first for me with fairway woods. I've now got a used 19* and 27* being sent to me, telling you what I think of these. I agree they're not good from the rough.

After using this club for a year, especially used it when I played at Pine Needles, I firmly believe that this club and other original Trimetal are the not dependable when you need them. The lower the loft is, the worse it can be, and the more embarrassing you will have. I had a wonderful tee shot from the tee box, outdrove every body in my group about 30 yards. Yet when I was also happy about my shot, so planed to pull this club in a hope to land the ball on the green, to my surprise, I only hit 10 yards with it.
The problem of those originals are theie too shallow faces. It is ok is you hit them off a flat ground, but never will it get you anywhere if your ball is on an uneven ground.

After trying their new plus, I think that the improvement is obvious. With deeper face now, the pluses is much playable than the originals. Even the new for senior are very forgiving as well, except the shaft is way to soft for regular.

So my experience tells me that shallow faced club will get the ball up quickly, but very hard to hit them on the uneven ground. The club makers have realized that for fact, just to see that Trial Metal's face is getting deeper every year. Now the original is selling below $100.00, so is Adams original. But take my advice, don't but them just because they are cheap, for that is also what you get when you play, they will fail you big time!!!

Have had this club about a year with very good results. I agree the very shallow face leaves little margin for error but the results on solid hits are a joy to behold. I've always had trouble getting long irons and fairway woods in the air, but these fly high and long. The Rapport graphite shafts run soft on these clubs. If you generally use a reguar flex, try the firm or strong flex. If you use a stiff flex, you probably need to get the club reshafted or try the trimetal plus.

I bought this club on sale for $99 and I love it. If you have a smooth consistent swing, it is very easy to hit. I would recommend hitting this club before buying it. If you find yourself hooking or slicing everything, try slowing your swing down to make it slower and smoother.

Re Al from Alberta: I in fact did put a UST Proforce 65 shaft in my 13* Orlimar and it is amazing. I have never had the type of confidence to work the ball that i have with this shaft/head combo. The stock shaft is just terrible, and may be the cause of some of the complaints on this website, along with some basic Unclear On The Concept problems. (Hey gang, head is low = ball is high, just like its on a tee, even though its on the fairway) I did not know that the UST 65 was the only after market shaft that fits this head, guess I got lucky because that was what I wanted anyway. If you do switch give it some time to get used to it, it will feel very stiff at first due to the fact that the stock shaft is so sloppy. I really like this club because it is a parsaver if you happen to foozle a tee shot and need to go yard to reach the green(the 13 degree will give you 245 plus yards off the fairway), and it is also a par five buster, but the old shaft would hook or slice wildly due to no torque at the tip. The UST is very tip stiff and therefore is controllable with minimal loss of yardage. Orlimar apparantly agrees with this choice of shafts, as the new versions of the Trimetal come with UST 65's as a shaft option. Run, dont walk, to your nearest clubfitter and install one now.

I think that this club is very difficult to hit on the fairway and on the tee. This product is supposed to be a fairway wood, but i consistently hit grounders. Then i started to use it as a driver and tee it up less than half an inch off the ground, and then i sky the ball. This club is very inconsistent and is difficult to hit from the tee and the fairway. i like the tight lies a lot better.

I am a 10 handicapper who just felt compelled to log a review to shore up the review rating of the Orlimar Trimetal. I read the other reviews of these clubs and was surprised. As you will note, I am a club junkie and have hit just about everything. Everyone has their own likes and dislikes, but for me the Orlimar Trimetals are the best FAIRWAY woods I have ever hit. From the short stuff or the crap these sticks are amazing. Keep your head still, swing smooth, and BOOM!!! these clubs rock. I am truly amazed that some others had such a hard time with them. Off the tee the Orlimar fairway woods are not the easiest clubs to hit due simply to the fact you're better off throwing a ball down and hitting it off the rug. Teed just a bit too high and you end up with a nice lob wedge for a tee shot. However, once you get the knack of hitting them, even from the tee box they are fabulous. I carry my 17* and 21* most often and with a nice smooth swing I smack the 17* about 225 yards. That's perfect for those tight par 4's or for those few occasions when I am close enough to go for the green in 2 on the 5's. Don't judge the Trimetals too quickly, they do take a little practice to get comfortable with them. But after you've hit them a couple of sessions you'll never want to switch. I don't even like the new Orlimar Plus series as well as the Trimetals. The Plus series is only one score line deeper which doesn't make them much better off the tee and I don't think they feel as crisp from the fairway. Given you can pick up the Trimetals for around $100 on eBay.... WOW! What a Deal!!!
